Upon arrival we had to wait a few minutes longer than start time, but it was because agent ensured we were able to tour without any other group issues! We had John T as our driver and this was one of the best tours we have had in a very long time! We laughed so hard, we literally cried. He was knowledgeable and funny and accommodating, and we would recommend this tour and John T to anyone even thinking about it. In terms of difficulty, there were moments that were a little harrowing, but we were definitely at ease with our driver. The views and experience more than make up for it though! Please do yourself a favor and utilize this company and ask for John T. Because we booked more than one tour with them, they even accommodated a deal for us on our next tour! The tour guide Joseph was so kind and full of energy. The video you watch when you get there is a very heart felt explanation of the passion to continue this community. They own 800 acres and the property is built on 20 acres, it was built between 1971-1975 for the main spaces that are shared. 45 people live there but could range to 80. They show how the products and structure are made. I had no clue about silk casts and loved the hands on understanding and history. They have concerts, events, gatherings. Etc at the amphitheater. Check out the website. The cafe is closed. You can stay as a hotel guest overnight. They offer apprenticeship also.

Is appears to be a small artist community but we didn't see anything going on at the moment so couldn't tell if it id still active or they make everything south in Scottsdale at Cosanti. There is a gift shop where you can watch a brief video on the history and learn about their wind chime creations. Personally I've received many of the wind chimes over the last 20 years for housewarmings or Christmas gifts. Each is unique. The greeter in the gift shop was friendly and stated there is a tour available as well. We didn't have time for the tour but purchased a couple of small gifts. He suggested visiting the Scottsdale location as well which is called Cosanti. I had no idea it was located in Scott's well. Will check it out.

Destinations were the Mingus Mountains and Cottonwood. It was an all-day tour. We had great weather - not too hot and not too cool. Two Angry Ape jeeps transported part of our group. Owner Tom was one of the drivers. Word to the wise: 5 people do NOT fit comfortably in the Jeeps. It works well for 4 people, 3 plus driver. The 5th person is crammed in the middle of the back seat with zero legroom. Fortunately, we had enough other vehicles to redistribute people, so no one had to be that 5th person for long. I went on a Pink Jeep tour in Sedona a couple of years ago. That was a lot bumpier and scarier than this one. There certainly were bumpy parts to this tour, but none of them scared the heck out of me! A private Jeep in our group had trouble negotiating some of the bumpier areas, but the Angry Ape jeep drivers had no issues. Tom is fun and personable, with lots of stories to tell. He kept us laughing the whole trip. His skill as a driver is very obvious. His worker (unfortunately, I forgot his name) was also very skilled. My husband and I had a great time!

He took great care of us and showed us a lot of places we probably would not have seen had we signed up for a regular Grand Canyon tour. It was $300 and well worth it. And he takes credit card too. It was informative and Jeremy worked well to go with what we were up for every part of the way. My husband and I are not big hikers, so he customized the tour to what we could handle and would give us options for further walking if we wanted. There's a stat that I think 10% of visitors to the Grand Canyon go beyond the initial view, so I'm grateful we are part of that 10% now. He also has a Suburban with leather seats, so that's a cherry on top for an already scenic drive! :D We had a great tour and recommend it!

This was my first visit to the Verde Valley archaeology center, and I was truly amazed! I was…read morehoping to see artifacts from the immediate vicinity at this location and was not disappointed! The center has been here for 15 years and exists primarily to display artifacts recovered from a single site in the area. This is extremely rare as most sites have been pillaged by pot hunters over the last 100+ years, and this site was privately owned and protected for many decades. I was honored to received what was basically a private tour of the facility by the executive director Monica Buckle. She took her time and provided much detail to give an excellent overview of this facility. Thank you so much Monica! The entire Verde Valley area is a much overlooked archaeology gem in the history of our country & this facility champions the learning and understanding of this unique place. If you're ever in the area, I strongly recommend a visit. Please note the visiting hours change for the summer season so be sure to research this first.
