This…read moreplace is a complete disaster, hiding behind a nice location and slick marketing while delivering some of the worst customer service and member experience you'll find in the city. The communication is abysmal, particularly from Sarah and Alicia, who are repeatedly unresponsive and unhelpful. Emails go ignored, questions are dodged, and if you do finally get a reply, it's vague and often inaccurate. They don't follow up, they don't follow through, and unless you ask five or six times, you will not get any clear answers or confirmations. You are constantly left chasing them down just to get the most basic information. To make matters worse, they will charge you whatever they want, whenever they want, without warning, explanation, or approval. You won't be notified of fees or changes unless you hunt them down to ask. If you're offered a credit, promo, or adjustment, take a screenshot and save every email, because they certainly won't help you figure anything out after the fact. Once you've signed up, you're on your own. Bijan is somewhat more communicative, but not enough to make up for the chaos. There's clearly no leadership or accountability here -- it feels like a group project where no one knows what their role is, and no one really cares. Facility-wise, it's barely above average. Courts are often overbooked, the gym space is mediocre, and amenities are inconsistently maintained. You're paying premium rates for a second-rate experience across the board. Bottom line: The Downtown Met is a textbook case of mismanagement and indifference. For a place that calls itself a "premier fitness and tennis club," it operates more like a poorly run pop-up gym with no structure or respect for its members. Look elsewhere, literally anywhere else would be a better use of your time and money.

Since I mapped it out beforehand, I knew where to park and how to get to the gym. This was a fairly large shopping area, but EQX was right there, and the desk is there in front once you enter. There was a really nice girl this day with long braids, and she directed me upstairs to the locker room and informed me that parking validation was not necessary at this time; the gate just went up as you pulled up to it. Perfect! After going upstairs, I did wander around and then a trainer directed me over to the locker room, which was spacious and very clean. The fitness floor is on the second, and as soon as I found the treadmills, I knew where I belonged. Light movement in the stretching area after, and then back to a shower with decent water pressure. What I was fascinated with was how friendly staff was. Trainers actually smiled and said goodbye which you won't normally see in California or New York. I certainly wasn't at home! Compared to other locations, this one was very low-key, although I admit I came during the afternoon where it was probably quieter. I had forgotten this is the location that I was in contact with back in 2020 when I had ordered some masks from their shop since they were actually open. I had such a good experience that the trip here to see them in person was worth it!

The gym equipment is a bit outdated though. I do like the fact that they offer cold towels post-workout to cool off. For the Spa treatment, I got the Hydrafacial 50 Min - Deluxe. For a first timer, you can also receive a 25% discount as well. Kristen was my esthetician and she was truly the best! You could tell that she was very experienced. She was very knowledgeable about all of the products and the facial itself was very relaxing. Really enjoyed the lymphatic drainage the most, she had my face looking snatched and jawline on point and skin truly glowing. 100% recommend booking her for a facial! This year we signed our kid up to play here for the convenience and we loved it! The fields were really nice. Sometimes the kids played on the softball fields which were real dirt and grass. Fields had bleachers and lights. The last game the kids played on the turf baseball field. These fields seemed really nice. (Though, I personally have never played on turf, let alone slid on a turf field). There are restroom facilities here, though, I never used them. It is kind of a hike to get to from the softball fields... closer for the baseball fields. There is also a playground and pavilion. On the far side of the complex off of Kingsley, there is an BRAND NEW all-inclusive playground. It's pretty amazing. There is a restroom and drinking fountain at this amenity too. My husband said he believes the enclosed baseball field next to the playground might be for deaf kids??? I can't confirm. There are also soccer fields here. My kids aren't into soccer yet so I can't say much about them. They do appear to be turf fields as well. Nonetheless, this complex is pretty awesome and I'm proud it's in our community.

I've been a Lifetime member on and off since 2013, and consistently at this location for the past…read moretwo years. There was a time I truly looked forward to coming here, but lately, that feeling has shifted. Earlier this year (around February or March), there was an incident where a man entered the women's locker room - far enough in that it was clearly not an accident. I reported it immediately to staff, but I never received any follow-up, which felt unsettling, especially given how tucked away the women's locker room is from the men's. Additionally, the equipment at this location feels outdated compared to other clubs. There are frequent maintenance issues, and the overall layout doesn't seem optimized for peak times. If you're hoping to train legs for example between 4-7 PM Monday through Wednesday, be prepared to wait - often long - for machines or platforms etc. Interuptions during your sets are the norm. Even gyms with a significantly lower price point, like EOS and planet fitness, have more versatile equipment (e.g., a dual abductor/adductor machine), which could be a worthwhile upgrade here. Crowding has also become a major issue. Over the past couple of months, the gym has felt consistently packed regardless of the time of day. If there's a new sign-up promotion running, it may be worth re-evaluating how it's impacting existing members. It's incredibly difficult to follow a structured workout when you have to constantly rearrange your routine just to get access to equipment (if you're lucky). Parking has also become a huge deterrent and adds another layer of stress to each visit. The class schedule is not great either, as a yogi, i rarely have the opportunity to attend a class, and wish they had AM sessions available. Pickleball courts are fresh and new, but are first come first serve, and since they have been installed, have not had a chance to use them, due to strenuous wait times. Not to mention the amount of people who walk around with tripods at peak times recording, hence why i pay the fees to not be around people recording.. While I appreciate the under-26 discount, which brings the monthly cost down to around $220, I'm beginning to question whether the value is still there. I would really encourage management to consider updating equipment and rethinking capacity management - especially at peak hours. It's difficult to understand how this location is being ran when other nearby locations offer a much better experience for a similar price point. The one thing they do right is customer experience. I always enjoy getting to speak with the front desk staff and trainers. I really hope this feedback is taken into consideration for improvements, and helps out anyone who is considering spending $3000 a year to work out here.

Areas broken for months never fixed. THREE! What are the cleaners doing? Apparently nothing. Even after I pointed it out. -roughly spoken to by a guy who takes care of the area (I assumed) by the indoor lap pool. I was pregnant and hurting and needed my nightly stretch in the pool which is the main reason I paid to go there and I can't use the hot tub while pregnant. Arrived at the same time as usual. There was another person swimming but the man present didn't like women or I don't know but he told me "it's closed" and didn't give me an explanation. I question and shared how I REALLY need to stretch I'm in pain and it's supposed to be open another 40 minutes on schedule and there is clearly another person swimming in front of us, so how can it be closed? He just yelled at me and still didn't tell me why. I have no idea who or why he was there. Cane other days when pool was support he open and they had signs saying closed" when it was supposed to be open. They don't really have a good amount of machines other than tons of treadmills compared to LA fitness. And as others mentioned they stay broken a long time. But I need to work my back and don't use free weights. The hot sauna was broken for MONTHS! And was so unclean inside. I couldn't believe I had been sitting in there. But I'm sure it was due to the lady exfoliating herself and no one cleaning it! It makes me want to vomit thinking of it. I wanted a water yoga class but they didn't have evening classes for me. Only during the day when I couldn't go. For a large expensive place it makes no sense they could not hire for evening classes. Kids area-while I don't trust anyone to watch my kids personally, my best friend had a terrible experience there. Other kids would bully her kids and staff didn't seem to care. She could only take her kids a set limited time during the day so too bad if you can't make that block of time despite the fact you pay twice as much to bring kids you can literally only go when they say you can because pools and splash pads for kids aren't open or are closed constantly. The last straw was her son was arguing with his sibling as siblings do, but it was handled terribly. Instead of going to get her if there was indeed a problem , the staff dragged him down the hallway and when he thought he was out of sight, she saw him throw him on the ground. She happened to have come down for pick up at the time and was following them wondering why he had her son down a secluded hallway alone, He didn't apologize or anything. Terrible way of handling a child.
