It's in the gas station next door and ask for Mason and Luke they will put you on fish and flys are $1-2. All the gear is half the price and they are welcoming as they come. Nice clean picnic site with sturdy large picnic tables, trash receptacles, and plenty of accessible parking spots. Following our picnic, we headed over to the welcome center and enjoyed the elevated views from an almost bird's eye vantage point. We also took the time to follow the upper and lower decks around the building perimeter to view all of the informational displays. We could even seen the wind turbine field at the horizon's edge from this spot, which we believed to be quite far away. Researched this when I returned home and it supposedly was about 30 miles away, which speaks to the clear air and the elevated views.

There really aren't many trees in southeastern Wyoming so this one is really interesting. "Discovered" by the Union Pacific rail workers when the tracks were laid through here in 1867, they actually moved the line sideways to avoid it. The railroad was eventually moved south, and the old road bed past Tree in the Rock was used as a wagon trail, then as the Lincoln Highway, and now as Interstate 80. The freeway splits around the tree, which has its own little parking area in the median and a spiky fence to protect it. It's called simply "Tree Rock" by its unromantic modern sign, which notes that "Limber Pines can live as long as 2000 years." It's a quick stop that will take you less than five minutes to explore. We had first time riders who got lots of attention and patience, and we had more experienced riders in our group who were encouraged to ride off the trail and test new skills. Lots of attention paid to matching horse personalities with the riders. We had such a great time that we returned for a second day of riding with 3 of us doing the cattle drive (amazing experience) and the rest doing another trail ride. The whole experience was so laid back and fun. Feeding the orphaned calves, playing on the homemade Zipline, playing with the four adorable ranch dogs, and the great conversation with Ed, his kids, and his ranch hands were icing on the cake.

It's a very easy hike, well maintained and mediocrely signed, that takes you all the way around the monolith. We didn't see any moose, though we passed two people who had on one of the side trails. There was also lots of evidence of the moose, including plants they'd picked clean and beds where they had recently slept. It's a longish loop that passes through several patches of still water and a short part of one river. Mostly shaded, so it was a comfortable temperature even in mid-July. The biggest negative was a couple bad mosquito bites, so bring your bug spray! I don't know if this will be true after 2023, but the flora here is incredible. The huge amount of water the west got this winter is really revealing in the massive wildflower beds. Including what was nearly a field of Sego Lillies! Lots of other flowers as well, including Indian paintbrush, monkshood, and wild roses.

There are not a lot of spots so be prepared for that. There is a bathroom at the trailhead. There is not hand sanitizer though, so bring some with you. Also there are no trash cans or dog poop bags. If you are bringing your pups be sure to bring some bags with you and also be sure to pack out what you pack in (including the dog poop!) The turtle rock portion of this trail is pretty well shaded and some water and is what there is signage on the trail for. Though you do have to look for it. Those are brown signs on the trees with an arrow and sometimes a small "trail" written above it. This particular loop is not signed. Honestly NOTHING other than the turtle rock is signed. So if you go wanting to do this loop, be sure you have the map downloaded or that you have a fully charged phone so you can access all trails while on the trail to make sure you are going the right direction. I have t-mobile service and i did have service the whole trail so was able to keep tabs on where we were. There was several times that we ended up back tracking though. There are a lot of random dirt paths out there so following intuition i dont think would really cut it. There is one point you will need to crawl over and under a fence. Also there are parts where the trail is not obvious. We walked past a few of the turns multiple times. Be prepared for a couple of marshy areas. There is no way to avoid it. So your shoes will get mucky. Also one point that you need to cross the river. I just crossed in my boots and got wet. When we got up near cow and regolith trail. The trail was not really existent as according to this map. We ended up needing to cut through some wildflowers and cross the river and saw the trail over there. But my phone charge was down at that point to like 45% so we opted to go on cow trail back to the forest service road and then back up turtle. We did hike around 8.85 miles. I think loop may actually be longer than what it says if you do what is listed here. We would have been game for trying it all IF i was not worried my phone would die and then it would be a heck of a lot more challenging to find our way back to the car. The positives : the wild flowers are absolutely beautiful here right now! The fields were bursting with color! There were so many birds and butterflies and bees. The trail is definitely less traveled. only really saw people on the turtle rock trail. We did not see any moose which was a little bit of a bummer. Had left the pups at home as so many had said they had seen moose here. A friend did hike turtle rock a couple of weeks ago and said she saw a moose and calf. Its a great trail just be prepared for teh fact that a fair amount of it is pretty primitive and you will need navigation to be able to find this particular loop. Some parts are clear but there are lots of splits.

Hot Power Yoga in Laramie blew me away from the first day and continues to impress me every time I go in for some practice. The staff is kind, patient, and they make it a point to welcome each person who comes through their door, whether they are a returning student or a first-timer. I've only tried a few of their many creative classes, but I've never felt like I couldn't participate because of the difficulty of the postures; all but one or two are offered in a heated room and the teachers offer shame-free hands-on adjustments. The lobby is clean and inviting, with comfortable decor, soft couches, and plenty of storage space for bags and outerwear. They sell a small - but thoughtful - assortment of yoga accessories from outfits to mats to blocks. The hot room is evenly heated and has one large wall of mirrors, a smooth floor, and soft lighting that is dimmed for maximum focus. Music is played during many of the classes, but it is never distracting and actually helps me to concentrate more on what I'm doing in the room rather than what my head wants to think about outside of the room (ahh, life). Occasionally props are used during some of the more challenging/power focused classes, and scented oils and buckwheat bags (for covering eyes during savasana) are used at the end of a class to help return the body to a calm, rested state. Lastly, scheduling classes is super easy and really streamlines the process. It's not necessary to sign up online before attending, but it's helpful in case a class fills up (after work hours and weekends, especially), and the scheduling software gives you a clear description of each class so you can better decide what you're in the mood for trying on any given day. I've only been attending this studio for a short while, but I'll be continuing my practice with Hot Power Yoga for the duration of my stay in Laramie. They truly practice what they preach, and none of it is preachy.
