Bring your parking pass if you have it otherwise there will be a charge just to access the area. Once you arrive at the boat landing, parking is free. From there you can either hike a portion of the lake and take the boat back, simply do a hike, or take a boat ride/hike, or just ride the boat! There is a charge for riding the boat with discounts available for kids and seniors. There are only facilities at the boat landing and once you leave you're on your own! You're constantly reminded that you are in bear country so bring some spray, bug repellent, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks, as there are no amenities in the wilderness areas. Hikes and climbing opportunities exist however, for the more advanced area permits may be required so check before you leave with Park Rangers. We were very happy to have started early as when we returned by noon the landing was exceptionally crowded, and parking was nonexistent. There is shopping, some concessions, and beautiful area to explore just around the boat landing area. This is a fantastic stop, but again emphasize. Be here early!

Along our tour, we saw a bald eagle, many buffalo, mountain goats that were right next to the road, elk and deer. Dale was shocked that we didn't see any bears that particular day because they are so common. We saw waterfalls, canyons, geysers and way more. The only downside is that we wish we had more time to tour the rest of the park.

It covers a fairly large area and has a number of activities you can do: horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and more. The food was excellent! They prepared 3 meals each day and we weren't disappointed at all. They even packed a picnic lunch for us to take when we went to Yellowstone for the day. The views at MH are amazing. It was so beautiful having the Tetons right outside of your window. We've missed MH since we were there and look forward to visiting again soon!

We're all from a big…read morecity and aren't particularly outdoorsy but our guide Jason made us feel comfortable in our kayaks as he explained how best to paddle and navigate through the water. Jason kept our attention as we kayaked with his knowledge of the Yellowstone area and some of its history. We were able to admire the fantastic natural thermal formations that the park is so famous for. There are some very beautiful steam vents and caves just along the water! Alta, Wy. We came here in the summer for the Bluegrass…read morefestival put on by the resort. Unfortunately the experience was muddled by the smoke from the fires all the way in Spokane. The promoters were not to be deterred, thankfully, as I spent a lot of money just to get here. Compared to other festivals this one is run exceptionally. There is no heavy handed security people acting like wanna be cops. There presence is there if you need one. All of the staff is friendly, helpful and happy. The crowd is organized well and there is plenty of room for everyone. The only morning competition and run for space is for shaded areas and shade shelter spots. If you want to get close to the performers it's easy to just walk up to the standing area in front of the stage. For such big name acts, the festival crowd is mellow and friendly. At no time did I smell tobacco or witness its use in the standing area, a real rarity! The biggest positive,somewhat surprisingly, is that they don't price gouge now that you are captive. At some festivals the whole town raises their prices just for you. All the prices here were pretty much normal. Some of the food trucks were a bit pricey but not obscene. The sandwiches at the coffee shop were way overpriced but overall the food and beverage scene was good. We had to take the lift to the top in order to see the mountain peaks through the smoke. I'm glad we did, it was fun and spectacular. The lodging was very nice, with a good supply of hot water and a comfortable bed. The sounds travel well through the walls and ceiling so a good nights sleep is not guaranteed. We had an elephant man upstairs who walked about in his room for hours! WHY? Just bring ear plugs, they may help. The room key gets you into the pool area, but the hot tub had too many people in it to try. Did not matter, the air temp was 95 degrees at 6:00 pm. It's a bit of a drive to get here but I think I liked this festival better than Rocky Grass, just because everything is so much easier. If there is another great lineup I'll be here! Billy Strings?
