We were a family group there to celebrate my girlfriend's daughter who was recently married. We stayed four days, all of our meals were delicious, our trail ride as a group of 25 was flawless. All the Ranchers were very friendly and professional. On our last day in Cody we ran into a few staff members at a Rodeo in Meeteetse. It was nice seeing them again. The wranglers are unprofessional, know-nothing, high school kids and have no idea what they're doing, either. No greeting when we got there, no nothing. Bob also INSISTED that we tip after the trail ride (we didn't) and I couldn't believe the audacity this old fart has. The trail is steep and dangerous - NOT FOR BEGINNERS - and the horses have no shelter from the hot sun and are tied up all day. Not even watered between trail rides (got there right as prior group came back and the horses were either used right away again or tied back up). YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Their rates for a guided 4 hour trip was well in the range for guided trip. I was very happy with our guide as well. He was very patient and worked the River very thoroughly. He also showed my wife how to cast. We had our 3 children with us and they had a great time exploring the river bank and looking at all of the elk and dear tracks. The River was also a private section, and we had more tha a mile of undisturbed fishing. We caught around 10 fish with a nice 14" cutthroat as the prime catch. I would highly suggest the Double Diamond for a single or family fishing adventure. It did take about 45 minutes to get their from Cody, but the drive was picturesque.

Our guide introduced us to flora of region sharing their homeopathic uses and spoke of the remote wilderness within the Thorofare beyond the mountains in their backyard. Despite being late in the season nearing Mid-September when rides start to become unavailable in the region, the hosts were incredibly accommodating and cordial. We were able to make our reservation earlier that same day. My only regret was not scheduling more time to dine, drink, and explore the South Fork from the quaint and peaceful Double Diamond X Ranch. During my next visit to Wyoming, this Ranch will be high on my list of places to visit.

When in Wyoming, go horseback riding, right? We decided to do this with Swift Creek Outfitters…read morebecause they didn't require reservations and seemed to be flexible with the start times. The horse "stables" are located several miles down a dirt road off of the main road so be prepared to drive slow and have your GPS map downloaded ahead of time because you will lose signal. We opted for the 2 hour ride which costs $114 if paying by credit card or $100 if paying by cash. The staff help you get onto the horse and provide basic directions on how to start and stop. I was a little worried about this since I've only ridden one other time but luckily the horses are all very well trained and essentially just follow the guide horse on their own. The experience overall was nice, with the path winding through stream beds and through the woods. I would not say that it had awe inspiring views or surroundings though. At the turn around point the guide got off of his horse and took photos of each of the groups with the mountain view in the background which was nice. I will say that the staff didn't feel that friendly. As we were waiting to leave, one of the women stated that she hoped that wouldn't have to get off of her horse to take photos of the guests. Also our guide, while making conversation with one of the guests on our ride mentioned several stories about annoying guests - girls "in their western era" putting on makeup while on the horse and women trying to pick him up. Trust me, I get that tourists can be annoying but this business is quite literally catering to tourists. It didn't make us feel very welcome. Finally, I'm by no means a horse expert, but as some of the other reviewers mentioned, all of the horses are tied up, saddled, in the direct sun, until they are pulled for a ride. It felt confined, with a lack of freedom for the horses.

I really can't overstate the care and attention they gave to us and the other guests, from the wrangles to the kitchen staff. There wasn't a request they couldn't/wouldn't accommodate for us. I have to commend John and his crew in really creating a special experience. For this alone we'll be back. The views were incredible and the ranch activities were never in short supply. The ranch staff did a really nice job curating a true Wyoming experience. There were plenty of horseback riding options for all levels and the horses were really well trained. Fishing was not really part of the program but steps away from the cabins was world-class trout fishing on a blue ribbon/gold medal river. While we didn't plan our trip around food, wow, what a culinary experience! The food was out of this world. The meals never disappointed, and when the weather was nice they would set tables up outside so we could dine in front of the mountain views. They even brought in an authentic chuck wagon one evening for dinner. A heartfelt thank you to John and the team for making our vacation one we'll never forget. We can't wait to come back.

It bucked, almost stomped the rider and then blazed off the trail running. Sutton blamed the rider in front of the entire group, while the rider was injured. Absolutely horrific. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
