I am new to Dallas and was in need of a new salon/stylist. I was looking for color and extensions…read more I had never had extensions before, and was apprehensive as I wasn't familiar with the process, the different techniques, the different types of hair, or the required maintenance. Before I scheduled an appointment, Jacquelyn took the time to discuss these things with me over the phone. She was extremely knowledgeable, more so than anyone else I had spoken to. So, I booked my appointment. COLOR We did the color and extensions in 2 different appointments. It had been a while since I had my color done and my hair was in pretty bad shape. I let her know what I didn't like about my color and she made recommendations. I could not have been happier with the outcome! The color came out beautiful and was far better than I could have imagined. EXTENSIONS Since this was my first time getting extensions, I did not know what to expect. The process was fairly easy and painless. Also, the extensions matched my new color so we didn't have to color them. The number of rows and weight was perfect (based on her recommendation for what I was looking for), and the placement was based on how I typically wear my hair to ensure I had flexibility with styling it in different ways. The end result certainly exceeded my expectations! Also, she gave me a great hair care package that contained all the things needed to properly care for my hair. I am extremely happy with my results and highly recommend Jax Manes.

I am not one to leave reviews, even when I have poor experiences. However, I am out of words with…read morehow Gloria Bueno, the salon manager, handled what should have been a quick phone call. On 1/26/2021 at 11am I went for a consult with Jordan (an amazing stylist who I think is very friendly, sweet, and does good work). I paid a deposit of $195 and scheduled my appointment for 2/1/2021 at 9am. They did not have the hair in stock so this is why I had to wait. The next morning, there was a major loss in my family and I was left with everything in my hands. I had to relocate for the time being to Houston, and wasn't sure when/if I would be able to return to Dallas. I informed Jordan right away to respect her time and give her an opportunity to book someone else during my time. She told me to contact Gloria to get any refund/exchanges handled. Now that the funeral is over, I had time to quickly call the salon. I called on 2/1/2021 at 10:56am. I stated my name and gave all the details of the situation, then said "I just wanted to see what my options were regarding the deposit." Gloria's response was telling me that I didn't cancel my appointment, that my appointment was last Monday (which would have been 1/25/2021), and that I screwed Jordan over, costing her a whole day's worth of money. So, not only did she clearly not listen to anything I said, and not only did she completely disregard the fact that I just lost a major loved one, but she proceeded to fabricate some false timeline and tried to tell me how I costed both Jordan and the salon. I tried explaining to her the dates and information, but she insisted she "had the facts" before putting me on hold. After a couple of minutes on hold, she returned and FINALLY asked for my name to look up my information. Meaning, she was making everything up until this point. She then saw my correct information and timeline, didn't apologize, and said "Well we just don't do refunds. We never have, it's a salon policy. I can reach out to the salon owner, we can maybe give you salon credit." At this point I was just shocked by the chain of events in this phone call, especially since I wasn't specifically asking for a refund anyways. I knew very well a deposit meant that I would likely not get refunded. I had every intention of coming back to the salon if I were to return to Dallas. I asked her if I could speak to the owner, and she declined, stating it was private information. I then finally told her that I was just really shocked by how she handled the conversation and felt it was wildly inappropriate and unprofessional. She laughed, said "sure," then hung up on me. I don't even care that I am out $200, that is meaningless to me after the loss I am dealing with. But I do care that Gloria Bueno handles her role in this manner. I hope the owner sees this at some point and reconsiders who they put in charge of their business investment.

I was open to a solid full color if matching my current color wasn't possible and perhaps a trim. When I called for an Anthony mentioned in reviews, I was told he's no longer here but the other ladies are experienced. I booked an appointment and came in over the weekend. I'll admit letting someone new do anything to my hair is nerve wrecking. I ended up spending 3 hours here and paid for a laundry list of services (color, partial highlight, low lights, toner, cut, blow dry). I was shocked when it was time to pay, $350 + tip totaling nearly $400. I haven't had highlights or low lights since high school! Maybe it's a thing here, I'm just not personally into it. I really like to keep things as natural as possible and don't like putting bleach or anything along those lines in my hair. I got home and cried to my best friend trying to explain I had stripes in my hair now and they look orange. My hair is naturally curly and not a lot of people know how to blow dry or flat iron my hair properly. I felt horrible that I was charged for a blow dry because as soon as I got home I immediately got in the shower to wash all of the product out of my hair, that was put in, in an effort to blow dry it. It wasn't sectioned and blow dried or flat ironed and it felt like a mess. It was also trimmed after this, so now that I've blow dried it and flat ironed it out there is a questionable section that appears to need to be trimmed. I typically get a dry cut after a Brazilian blow out so my hair is completely straight for it. I really wanted a Brazilian blow out until I found out that would be $350! I could have flown home to my girl in LA for my roots, and a Brazilian for less than this. Call me crazy but no hair appointment should be over $800. The girl who does my color, cut and Brazilian would loose her marbles if I told her this. All in all this just isn't a style or look I like or would want to pay to keep up. I feel like as soon as I need my roots done, it would be so obvious that I needed more stripes or whatever all of this is called vs just a solid root color. I'd hate to immediately go pay for a solid color to be put over the $400 service I just paid for but at the same time it doesn't feel like me at all. Although subtle enough (which again, why did this cost so much?!?) that most may not notice, I know that I never have this done to my hair. I saw a bunch of clients coming in which is great for them but this salon isn't going to be the one for me as often as my hair grows the price for services is just outrageous compared to what I'm used to paying. I like the solid dark brown sections and I'm completely confused as to how I had all of this excess going on when I specifically booked a root touch up or solid color and trim. Sometimes you feel a bit taken advantage of when things like this happen.
