I love the Wildlife Learning Center. It is my favorite place to visit when I come to California. The staff is so friendy and knowledgable. It is fun to get to see the animals so close. I like that I feel they are well taken care of and happy. This is a must do if you are planning to visit Southern California. I did the animal experience where I got to meet a Fennec Fox. I came here today and it was a really cool place! Very small which I actually found very nice because you get more up close and personal with the animals than a regular zoo. Also the place isn't entirely meant for people's entertainment..it's really targeted towards caring for the animals there. There are bald eagles and alligators and very vocal monkeys! My friends and I chose to pay for the individual experience with the owl whose name was Newton. Newtons really camera shy but we got some good shots ;) I highly recommend visiting! The packages are really worth it and you're helping keep this place going! There's snacks and drinks for sale In the office too..I'm definitely bringing some friends here in the future. read more

Had so much fun on my visit here. I went with my boyfriend and we had a great time. It's not very big, you could maybe kill an hour here, but we payed an extra $25 to play with a sloth. They take you inside their habitat to touch and spend time with the sloth (along with the handler) and allow for pictures and up close interaction. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. Came here back in february and thought it'd be an interesting spot to check out with my boyfriend since we were kind of in the area... Wasn't much to see, really. A few animals here and there. I kind of felt like I was in someone's back yard or personalized zoo (it's pretty much located in a residential area). I felt as if the animals didn't have much room since it was such a small area. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Only giving them the extra star because we saw a porcupine doing some kind of dance. read more

My kids and I love this place! It's much better than the zoo. Obviously not as big as a zoo, but animals are in cages much closer. You can be done in an hour if you wanted to zip through. We've never tried the animal interactions, maybe next time. read more

I went to this place during the week, and I had so much fun! I learned a lot about the animals they have, and the workers are very educated on all the animals. During their shows, they bring out an animal, give information about it, and let everyone touch. There is not a lot to see there, but when I went, I was there for about 3 hours. I was able to do the giraffe encounter, it costs $60 for 15 minutes. We met some ladies there, and asked them if they would like to join us, so we all split the cost at $15 each. It was a great experience, and it was over 15 minutes. We got to touch the giraffe, take pictures, and feed him. The turtles were probably the most entertaining this to see. We saw some fight, and we saw them mating as well! It was hilarious and just made the whole experience fun! I would go back and you cant beat the admission price. Beware of parking however, that is a pain. read more

So much fun!!! Hidden gem, we had so much fun here. I didn't know what to expect but as an animal lover it was amazing. It's small, laid back and more intimate. It's a backyard sanctuary. Being soooo close to the giraffe was incredible. The foxes!! The servals!! Baby monkeys! They had a wonderful variation of animals rescued and they have lovely homes. My favorite was....I think the fennec foxes. I've always wanted one. The grey fox and bobcat/ might have been a lynx- were stunning. Amazing place. read more

Took my girls (3 yr old and 10 month old) today. We had a great time. Animals are well cared for, enclosures are clean. I'm mostly writing this review as a rebuttal to some of the bad ones on here. People complaining about the price...they are live animals and thus need to be fed and cared for, that costs money. If you want something free go to the park and watch squirrels. Some people complaining that it smelled bad...they have cats, cat pee smells, get over it. The place was very clean and considering how many animals they had I'd say they are doing a great job keeping it clean. Some people complaining it was hot...are you serious? They don't control the weather, if you are uncomfortable in the heat go to the movies or better yet move to Alaska. I heard it's cold there, cold enough to freeze bear piss so you wont smell it. Took my nieces, they had such a great time looking at all the animals. We even opted for a personal experience and we got to pet a fennec fox named Sahara. Leah was so sweet and knowledagble about the fox. It is small, but the animals are amazing. It makes it very personal. They even have Lola the Sloth,Eagles, Lemer and spider monkeys. An alligator named "fluffy", my nieces thought that was so funny.They have some huge boas! They have an experience at noon for everyone, we met Pop Tart the monitor, they were going to have another one at 1pm. Not sure if they have them through out the day or not. Most likely. The staff was very helpful and kind. Just a great time for a nice local spot in SF valley. My nieces came home and told their parents everything. It was a good morning. read more

It's great what they do here. It is very small maybe 10 cages. $7 to get in and additional charge to pet the animals. They are hefty charges. I wanted to pet the sloth but it was $75 for 1-4 people. Since I was alone it would have been pricey. It's best if you come with a group. $100 to touch the big cat so I did the fennel fox at $35. You only get about 10 mins with the animal. Had an excellent time with my kids. Place is small so great for younger kids. They have a scavenger hunt for slightly older kids. Very small. I was excited to bring my daughters and thought it would be a big place where you could pay for admission and touch the animals. No! You have to pay extra to go into the cages or pet the animals and the place is so small it literally took 20 minutes to walk through and view the animals. I had no idea this existed in Sylmar until a friend of mine purchased a Groupon deal for me. My husband, son & I went and it was decent. It's very close to where I live which is nice. It took us about 20-30 minutes to get through it all. Many of the animals were either hiding or just not in their cage for whatever reason. I would go back. Love this place. Love the idea of giving shelter to homeless/abused/unwanted pets or animals. It never ceases to amaze me how unbelievably careless some people can get...but that's a whole another story. Love this little oasis of heaven. I love this place. I went in a group of four for a private tour with Kyle and it was really awesome. Kyle is very informative and getting up close with all the animals was a once in a life time experience. You don't get to hold any of the animals yourself like many of the yelp pictures made it seem (with the exception of the owl) but you do get to feed the porcupines and pet many of the animals while on tour. Oh! They are also the only place I've ever seen with blue tongue skinks!! I used to handle the skinks when i was a kid so I've been on a hunt to find them in zoos/rescues for a very long time and FINALLY!! I've found them! Ill for sure be coming back! read more

This is a great institution for the protection of rare, endangered, or otherwise helpless animals. I would definitely recommend this place for families or animal lovers that want a cheaper more rewarding wildlife experience. Great for families, with many opportunities for personal experiences with particular animals, and many educational opportunities (they have a van so they could bring the zoo to you)! The only thing that could be a problem for some is that it's very small and in the very north end of the Valley. Location and size aside, this is an underrated organization that deserves your time and money. read more

Really nice place, I knew it was a small place but they had more animals then I was expecting. We didn't get there till 12:30 and it was a little warmer day so some animals were sleeping but we stayed long enough a lot woke up. My son is almost 3 and he had a blast! You have to check this place out especially if you do not live that far. We just did the general admission , some of the experiences were a little more then I wanted to spend that day. I went for the luau party which was just perfect. I got to see so many cool animals that I never got to see up close before. The 2 sloths, Sid & Lola, were the highlight of my trip. I got great photos and got to see them both being very active in their newly upgraded habitat. For a few extra bucks I also got to feed a giraffe which was amazing! I've never been so close! Well worth the trip and every staff member was great. I am glad they are helping out animals in need. Good spot for a fun afternoon for kids and adults. We used to visit WLC many years ago. It's great they're open for private tours during covid. Our tour included their giraffe animal experience and was definitely worth it. Our tour guide for the 10am tour was Larysa and she was friendly, clear with explaining safety protocols, and very knowledgeable with the animals. WLC was clean and well maintained, and the animals appeared well cared for. We had a wonderful experience and would love to come back in the future! read more

Was looking for a place where my husband could cross meeting a sloth off his bucket list for his birthday and this place came up. It's an animal sanctuary tucked in the city of Sylmar. Very intimate setting. Nicely shaded. Was able to see everything in about an hour but we made a few laps to see if the animals moved for better pictures. Every hour they take a different reptile out to share. It's a great educational place for kids. General admission isn't bad at all -- I bought discounted tickets through yelp and got two tickets for $9 + service fee. We paid additional $150 for the fennec fox and sloth experience -- both worth it, especially the sloth. Would love to come back again! read more
