Our chef, Suah, was fantastic--fun to have in our home, full of great ideas, and exceptionally talented. They were able to tailor so much of the cuisine to meet our health and dietary requirements without compromising on flavor. I highly recommend Sage Home Chef to anyone looking for a personalized and enjoyable culinary experience!

We were excited to hire Sage. Unfortunately we had a very bad experience and learned that the…read morecompany doesn't take responsibility for the chef's they place in your homes. There were a couple of things that happened, but the worst of it was our chef served us raw chicken. We were told the chicken was fully cooked so we didn't think twice before sitting down to eat it. It was heavy sauced and the chicken was in small pieces so we couldn't tell the meat was raw until it was too late. I immediately contacted Sage and they were much more concerned about a review than they were our potentially getting sick. On that same cook date, the chef broke our stovetop. He used it the entire day cooking and at the end of the day I heard him trying to start the ignitor a couple of times, so I checked it after he left. It only partially ignited so I contacted him and asked about it. He said there may be some "debris in the passage" and included a DYI video link on how to fix it. It's a gas stovetop so I'm not comfortable DIY'ing it and hired someone to come out and fix it. I mentioned this to Sage and sent them the $428 bill, which is hardly a big ask given they broke it and just exposed us to food poisoning. Sage refused to pay for the stovetop repair, saying we couldn't prove the chef broke it. It's $428. The chef cooked that day and it worked, he left it didn't work AND more importantly you exposed us to food poisoning. Are you serious? Twice we got emails from Sage implying that they might cover these expenses if we removed our review. Doing the right thing and taking responsibility should not be tied to a review status and their request should be kept in mind when reading the other reviews. We did not agree and have since gotten word that they aren't covering the stove, as mentioned above. The only thing they did in the end was not charge us for the cook date when we were given the raw chicken. Even that they implied was a favor since the bad chicken only represented 1/4 of the meals we got that week. Who on earth is going to eat dinners prepared by someone who gave them food poisoning? I think Sage is a great business concept and I'm sure they have some good cooks, but it seems hit and miss and if you get a miss, good luck to you.

We thought it would be fun to have her cook dinner for us one night in our beautiful AirBnb while we enjoyed some of the wine we had purchased. Her communication from the beginning was top notch, and she even shared some winery and restaurant recommendations with me in advance to help with my planning for the rest of the weekend. At one of the wineries we visited, the owners raved about her talents! The food was delicious and the price divided among the girls was very reasonable. The soup and dessert were our personal favorites! See the photo descriptions to see what she served. Chef Rebecca easily found her way around the Airbnb kitchen, and she never bothered us to ask where something was located. The kitchen was clean and pristine when she left! I highly recommend her for any event needs, big or small!

Rebecca was very communicative during the planning phase and had a wide range of delicious food options to select from that were able to accommodate a nut allergy and gluten intolerance. The biggest takeaway from our experience with Chef Rebecca (outside of an amazing meal with creative and unique dishes) was her attitude given the unforeseen circumstances - the power went out at our VRBO and then running water stopped working. Chef Rebecca kept a positive attitude and made the entire meal on the grill with one flashlight and a couple of candles. The food was outstanding and was of high caliber even with the nontraditional kitchen setup. Thank you again Chef Rebecca!!!

Upon my initial email, she responded within 24 hours with a request to set up a phone conference to discuss the details of my event and my group's dietary preferences. Within the next couple weeks, we spoke by phone and she was asked many questions about the group, the event, meal preferences, etc. We spoke so long the conversation become very personable and I then explained to her that I was looking at other chefs, as well. She emailed me within 48 hours a nice menu including appetizers and dessert. I was very impressed. I had two ladies within my group whom were vegans and vegetarians and she ensured our meal would work to their palette. When I made the decision to work with Michelle, the professionalism continued. Me and Michelle kept in contact and right up to the event to confirm the menu details, the deposit, etc. On the day of our dinner, we entered the home and the aura of the food and the presentation was amazing. We started our meal with a fruit pico de gallo mix with fresh fruit that was absolutely devine. She also arranged a charcuterie board with fresh hummus, variety of cheeses and crackers. There was also a salsa tray with blue chips, fresh made guacamole and two different types of salsa. Our main meal included tilapia, blend of chorizo potatoes, rice and beans and mix of corn and flour tortillas. She ensured everyone's needs were met and me and my friends enjoyed every bit. Michelle ensured the kitchen was clean before she left. Michelle is a gem to work with and her attention to detail is amazing. It shows through her work ethic, food display and taste that she has a sincere passion for this work. If you are in the Portland area, please do not hesitate to book Chef Michelle for your culinary needs as you will not be disappointed.

While we were touring Oregon wine country, Chef Michelle and her assistant Gina were busy preparing us a feast for our return. As soon as we opened the door, we were met with glorious smells and smiling faces from them both. We started our meal with finely chopped mixed fruit that I would say was reminiscent of a fruit salsa. The fruit was sweet and refreshing. Then we fantastically arranged charcuterie board that had all types of fruits, cheeses, crackers, dips and breadsticks. We didn't know where to begin because we also had blue corn chips, salsas and fresh made guacamole on the table. Deliciousness at its finest! Our main meal was tilapia fish for tacos, a blend of vegan chorizo potatoes and spices for a vegan option, rice, beans and a mix of flour and corn tortillas. When I say all the food was fresh and flavorful and all the flavors just engaged so well with each other, that would be an understatement!!! This was a culinary party at its finest and I'm so happy I was able to have this experience while visiting Oregon. Both Chef Michelle and Gina went above and beyond to assure we were well taken care of and Gina even played shoulder shaking music to keep us grooving while we enjoyed our meal. If you are ever looking for a personal chef with very personal touches, Chef Michelle will not disappoint.
