I'm a big fan. I checked out WildWater along with the other companies in the area for Guide Training earlier in the year. After whittling my choices down and talking to each company it came down to two--and I chose WildWater after talking with a veteran raft friend who recommended them. The training was intense. Under the guidance of Kenny Cuthbert and Mike Curtis we learned how to rig a boat, read the river, choose safe lines, and command a paddle crew. If you're looking for a rubber stamp certification, look elsewhere. Kenny's gonna yell at you here, and he's going to teach you the right way to do things, and after enduring 6 weeks of that, I can tell you without reservation that I would do it again in a heartbeat. These guys are highly skilled, professional, careful, and serious about turning out skilled guides who boat under control. I've also been along with some commercial floats and it's very much the same; WildWater takes excellent care of its equipment, its customers, and the river. If you want a great training experience or just an incredible ride down the river, I can't recommend these guys enough. Thumbs up. read more

Wow, for my first time it was a great time. I would totally recommend them. These guys are awesome and so cool to hang out with. I went with 4 of my friends and we got there a little late but they were great about it. The whole experience was awesome. During may and June u are required to wear a wetsuit which was fine. It was 75 over there and it was so nice compared to the other side of the mountains. We did the level 3 Rapids which was a great way to start (ready for a 4/5). We were able to push off our friends into the water because it's funny and they let us know when it was a great time to do it. There were areas that you are able to "surf" and we were able to do that a few times. They weren't in a hurry to go down the river. It seemed they enjoyed it as much as we did. What a great way to spend the day having fun. It was a great first experience for me and I couldn't be happier. Lance is a very knowledgeable guide and instructor with lots of expertise. His personality and stories enhance everything. He took us on the Wenatchee River and had explanations and knowledge about many things. His instructions were clear and easy. Great energy and positivity. Anyone in or out of state should begin with this company, hands down. Even though we were late, all the staff was very polite, happy, and friendly to provide a great service. I would recommend them without any doubt or hesitation. Make sure to read cancelation policy. Made reservation same day of float had a miscount on the number of people by 2. Figured it out shortly after paying and due to cancelations being required 7 days in advance for a refund we paid for two spots that weren't used. A little flexibility in cancelation policy would go a long way. read more

This rafting company is just plain awesome! Can't get any better when you have people who love what they do and are damn good at it. Me and my friends were all first timers to rafting and had a blast. Naturally, we choose the Wenatchee river trip but would definitely come back for the more intense trips (Skykomish/Green Rivers). All the necessary gear was provided (thank God for the wet suit and booties), so all we had to pretty much do was show up at the rendezvous point. Not recommended if you think you're going to get instruction and safety tips before you are out in the rushing water. Not recommended if you think you can ask a casual question to your guide and expect him to not cuss you out just before he tries to smash your head on a rock and drown you, twice. Not recommended if you decide to get out and walk halfway back because you want to live, and the owner says, "He'll talk to Jack, the assassin." DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY! I plead with those of you reading this review to NOT TRUST this company. While walking our boat down to the launch site, I simply asked our guide, "What's the worst injury you've seen since working with this company on this river?" Our guide's name was Jack and he immediately got ticked off and started swearing. "What the Fu#% kind of question is that?!" Noticing he was upset but not understanding why, (it seemed like a completely reasonable question) I quickly apologized and said I didn't mean to offend or upset him. The guide responded, "Well no, it just seems like a pretty f%#ked up question don't you think?! I mean would you fu%^in ask a war veteran what the worst sh%# they've seen is?!". Now correct me if I'm wrong, but being a rafting guide is a tad bit different then fighting in a war and asking a question to your river guide WHO YOU ARE PAYING is maybe a little different than speaking with a combat vet, don't you think? You know how many people, Mr. River Guide, have climbed into my patrol car and asked me if I've ever shot anyone or asked me what the worst thing I've seen is? Never once have I lost it and sworn at a member of the public for asking a question (which in my case is much more inconsiderate). This guide, Jack, was extremely unprofessional and needs to develop thicker skin. After being cursed at in front of my peers, we take our boat to the launch site and I notice we are the last ones to the river bank, but our guide immediately says "let's go" and puts us in the water. I notice that all other guides (5 guides with 5 more boats) are going over safety things with their "crew," showing people where to put their feet, how to hold the oar, etc. Our guide just puts us right in the water and gives us no instruction. The very first rapid we hit he takes a terrible approach (this was not my first rafting experience) and puts us low end to the rapid on my side of the boat (I was front left). I immediately get bucked out of the boat (mind you I had my feet in the holds and I'm pretty in shape at 6'5'' 225 lbs) but the river just overpowered me and sucked me under. My head and face slam against a rock on the shallow river bed and the boat crushes my head against the rock I just hit and pins me for what felt like several seconds. Thank God the boat rolled over me and I was able to be assisted back in by my friend. I felt like my face was bleeding and I had bad whiplash but there was no time to assess my injuries because we were approaching another rapid (another person was also thrown out when I was but I found that out later). Approaching another rapid he AGAIN takes a hard line in the water and puts us in the rapid on my side and I go flying out again. This time the angle of approach was so bad we lost two other people overboard as well. I was able to quickly pull myself back on board but the other two guys were struggling (both tweaked their backs as a result of being thrown out). After everyone was back in the boat, I began to think... Is he doing this on purpose because of the question I asked? Now doubting the character of our guide, I decide I don't trust him enough to continue down the class 5 waterfall towards the end of the river. I get out of the boat, walk up the trail and over the bridge where I will wait for our guide and the rest of our crew to finish going down the water fall. Before I walk down the trail, our guide hands me his oar to hold and confirms for me what I suspected all along. He hands me his oar and says "Hold my oar for me, this is a very special oar; if you lose it I'll put you in the water again." I almost lost it and fought the dude right then and there. How dare you take a chance with my life and everyone else's in my boat just because you got offended by a question. That is reckless endangering and absolutely inexcusable. The fact that this person is taking people down the river is more than concerning, it's downright dangerous. I kept my composure and waited till the end of the trip to speak with the owner, Lance. I told Lance everything that happened and asked him to look at the big picture subjectively and when you do, it becomes more than obvious that his employee put our lives at risk on purpose. The owners response: "we will talk with him and look into it." That's it. To be fair, the lead guide, Schafer, was awesome. The other guides I hear were great to my other buddies on the other boats but still, do you really want to take a chance with your life or your loved ones who might end up with a guide like Jack who still works for this company? Is it really worth the risk? There are many other great companies that run rafting experiences in Washington. This is not ok, and I hope no one takes a chance with their life by choosing to patronize this business. Now excuse me, I need to go contact the Better Business Bureau. read more

We spent a day in July on the White Salmon River with Wildwater and had an absolute blast! Deanna seemed to run the show here, and she was really a hoot! She made the experience fun and has a great sense of humor, but also ensured our safety throughout the entire day. We were a group of about 16 bachelor party dudes, and I was lucky to be placed in a 4-man boat with our guide Shaffer or "the Shaffe man." He was a stellar guide! Shaffer is an experienced young rafter, who set us up with some great lines through the rapids. On the walk down to the bank we may have lost our boat briefly to the hillside, but our faith was quickly restored once we were on water. Shaffer is really a skilled pilot of that raft! I got to "ride the bull" through one of the bigger rapids, and it was a thrill sitting up front for that drop! As an added bonus, Shaffer pointed out some amazing landmarks and shared his knowledge of the river with us. What a memorable day! A friend and I rafted the Tieton River today with Wildwater River Guides and we had a blast! It was my friend's first time and they explained everything very clearly so that it was easy for her to pick it up right away. Our guide, Trevor, was very confident and knowledgeable and made the whole experience go very smoothly. Due to the group sizes, another guide, Hayden, even came along on his day off to paddle and help balance out the boat. Compared to other rivers I have rafted, the Tieton is a very fast-paced ride which keeps you busy and is lots of fun! Wildwater River Guides provides excellent high-quality equipment, which, combined with experienced and capable guides, makes for the perfect whitewater rafting experience! Great company and amazing guides. Took a group from Lacey Parks and Recreation yesterday and it was a blast. Everyone was very pleased and enjoyed rafting the Wenatchee River. A lot of the patrons will be coming back to do another river with Wildwater again at the end of the summer. Some of our teens, that did not have parents on the trip, had incomplete waivers that we did not realize before arriving. Wildwater worked with us to get copies faxed to parents and we got our teens on the river. Thanks for working with us and having amazing patience. While our guides were professional and amazing, one of the competitors guides made fun of our group walking to get into the shuttles. If i could remember what company it was, I would say. This rafting company is AMAZING! They are professional, safe, patient, and knowledgeable. They were very professional with me as I scheduled my rafting trips with them--they called AND emailed to confirm, and let me know with very advanced warning when a trip was in jeopardy due to a low number of rafters (which they decided to lead even with the low turnout because they're amazing!). They were also incredibly safe. When we were getting ready to get onto the river, one of the rafters had a difficult time finding a helmet that fit him. He said that he was okay without buckling his helmet, but the rafting guides insisted that they find something that would work for him... and they did! While we were on the river our guide had us practice all of her commands and we even practiced pulling from the river into the boat before we got to the actual rapids. Even though we were only one boat, we had two guides. One in our boat and one kayaking alongside us, so that he could help us if we got in a tricky or unsafe situation. And the guides were extremely patient and knowledgeable. The guide told us the names of all the rapids as we approached them, and often the stories about where the names came from. One of the rafters in my boat was very young and immature. The guide answered all of his questions and patiently repeated instructions until he was able to "get it." When a bunch of us fell out in a rapid, one of the rafters was injured. We pulled over once we were clear of the rapids, and our guide--who was also an EMT!--splinted and bandaged his injury and checked with him to see if he felt safe continuing or if we needed to wait for him to get picked up. Overall, I had an amazing experience. I felt safe and comfortable during the entire trip... which helped me to have a very fun time! I'll be going on more trips with them this summer and for many summers to come. Highly recommended! read more

We did a rafting trip out of Cashmere today. Nick was an awesome guide! The boats and all equipment was brand new. It was a smaller group with five guests and one guide in the boat. We were also accompanied by a safety kayaker Neils who was also great. Nick gave us the choices of easy or more wild paths through the rapids which made the trip fun.
