Best beach in New Jersey! Been there more times than I can count. Don't waste your time looking for something better.

The beaches are very clean and the Boardwalk has tons of activities - which are major perks for families looking for a fun vacation spot and who want to avoid the hassle and riff raff that comes with other Jersey Shore beaches (i.e. Seaside). read more

Just outside of where I stayed was Wildwood Crest beach. The more peaceful beach just down from Wildwoods main beach. The main difference on this beach is the lack of major confections to choose from. No boardwalk, no convention center, but a small Pizza and ice cream shop but if you're staying in any of the nearby lodging/motels, you may have that covered already. Walking on the beach seemed to be more people taking it easy, senior folks with their dogs where on Wildwood Beach it was more of a younger crowd which makes sense, teens with their music speakers and the like - again with all the attractions nearby this makes sense. At the peak of summer, all the beaches in the area are sure to be loaded, but Wildwood Crest may be slightly less so. If that's what you're looking for it's here, but only short drive away you can get to the more busy beach and boardwalk. read more

This might be the best beach in NJ. First it's free.....and it's almost spotless. There are chair and umbrella rental locations that are conveniently located at several locations on the beach. The beach is huge......makes for a long walk but also makes it never too crowded. The beach is family oriented and is generally an older crowd which means everyone is polite and just looking to enjoy a nice day at the beach. The waves are great and the water gradually gets deeper......not a steep drop off which is great for swimming and boogie boarding. Can't go wrong at this beach. read more

First of all I'm a Jersey girl and love the Jersey shore. Cleanest beaches in the Crest. Cleaned early in the morning daily. The water is amazing and you frequently see Dolphin playing in the waves or jumped in and out of wakes from the tourist boats. The beach has beautiful fine white sand, you feel like you are in the Caribbean. Perfect spot for families to vacation. Wildwood Beaches: North Wildwood - I always think of NW more where it is a community meaning folks live there full time or have summer homes and stay all summer. Wildwood - watch the tram car please...yes the boardwalk, which has a shuttle down to the water. More lively than the Crest. I watch them as they rake the beaches every morning at 530. 2 tractors crisscross the beach making the sand perfect. - Lifeguard protected until 5 or 530PM daily in season - Wide beach. - Wooden boards to walk to the beach keeping your feet from sweltering heat. They clean these daily too. - Nice people. Tend to be over 25 with young kids or older empty nesters. The teens that hang here are nice, generally here with their parents but seated far from them. In my opinion, Wildwood has the best beaches in Jersey. You always see maintenance crews out in the morning cleaning up the sand, there are plenty of trash cans to put your garbage, and the water is super clean as well. I've been coming since I was a kid and plan to continue the tradition when I have children as well. read more

I am not a fan of Jersey Shore. AC is complete trash, LBI and OC beach you must pay for and it's crowded. All the other locations don't have a decent boardwalk. Only place left which is decent is Wildwoods and to be more specific Wildwood Crest. Free beach, clean sidewalks, super safe and family-oriented environment. Crest especially has a European feel to it. On the beach you can rent chairs and umbrellas and find portable bathrooms. In the morning there are few places open with bike rentals. read more

Pros: This beach is clean and lovely. Has waves conducive for boogie boarding. Nice and flat for those of us who enjoy running or walking along the shoreline. Cons: If you wish to park close to beach, you will have to pay a meter. By the time you go from your car and make the LONG trek toward the water, you may find yourself exhausted! The sand on this beach is very fine - the kind that sticks to your body and everything else. And there's nowhere to rinse feet when leaving the beach. Also - unless you choose to trek 1/2 mile - there are no restrooms or places to get beverages. Now that I've written all this, I'm wondering why I rated this beach a 3. Wildwood Crest Beach should not be confused with the Wildwood and North Wildwood beaches. I've been coming here almost every year since I was a baby, and I've been to many other beaches in both New Jersey, New York, and elsewhere. Hands down, Wildwood Crest beach is my favorite beach of all time. Not only is it free to go on the beach, but the beach is also very clean. The beach is very wide, and that means you can find a place to sit among the crowds or off by yourself. Another thing I like about Wildwood Crest beach is that the waves are pretty decent in size (good for boogie boarding and surfing), but the undertow is never too aggressive. Never once have I felt like I was going to be knocked over or washed away by a wave. Everyone who can should visit this beach at least once in their lives. read more

Wonderful beach that is the widest I've ever seen! Sometimes you can even see dolphins swimming by in the ocean. It is a free beach (yay!) that is generally very clean, except today I saw a lot of cigarette butts. Let's keep it clean people! read more

The beach at the crest offers an extremely long walk of a 1/2 mile before you get to the water. The sand is not fluffy so walking is not hard but if you have small kids and a lot of beach toys you will not enjoy the walk at all. Aside from that the entire place is just OLD. Not quaint. OLD. The boardwalk is just short of filthy. Every store is the same. Food is horrible with the exception of Stuarts Root Beer. The shops are dingy. The arcades are dark and smell.
