Its very far from boardwalk... We were there on Labor Day weekend and day was not lucky for us. It was raining since morning and all we did stay in a hotel. We left for beach around 5 in the evening and decided to spend some time on boardwalk only. Beach is some 1/2 mile from the boardwalk and all I can see a long stretch of sand. I have never seen beach this far on the east coast. And I know this is not the case as sea water was not even reaching pier logs so I guess it is seasonal. I have also seen the board of beach movies on the beach but the water was clogged there, guess rain has spoiled everything. We spend some time walking on the beach. There was a wooden path till shore but we returned half way.

I could have sworn I reviewed Wildwood Beach in the past, but apparently not. If I had to pick my #1 beach in Jersey for a day trip, Wildwood would win the vote hands down. I know the town is far from perfect, but it's always welcoming to me and feels like my shore home after years of visiting in the summer. So, yes, you're gonna walk far to reach the ocean. Like, really far. So far they offer beach taxis for $3/adult. They also have porta potties halfway up to the boardwalk near makeshift walkways. I'd recommend avoiding them if you can. They smell. Generally the sand is pretty clean. I like visiting Wildwood Crest the most for extra space. Lifeguards stay on til 5:30 p.m. Oh. And it's free. I guess I should have said that first.

    The nice ocean.

The beach is a great spot to come hangout with the family and enjoy the ocean on a hot summer day, but if you are coming down, park at pay the meter and beach out and 2nd Street Beach. It's nicer with the walk being closer and the ocean being close to. The meter parking is $2 hour. Definitely worth taking the trip hear.. On weekends parking fills up fast. So get hear early. They have a food cart most of the time where the guy sells hot dogs, preztels, soda, etc. And prices are not bad at all. They have bike parking to if you wish to drive you're bike down.

The best beach on the eastern coast! Lots of space, nice views, and clean sand. Hope to return soon!

Said to be NJ's best beach, Wildwood's beach is very wide and long. You need to literally walk like 3-5 mins from the Boardwalk through the beach, in order to reach the water The sand is very soft, fine, which isn't particularly a good thing, because it easily gets anywhere - and I mean into your phone, for example. Great fireworks set on the beach for 4th of July and every Friday during the active summer season. A friendly tip: go in the mornings when it's calm and not overcrowded - have a good read, sunglasses and enjoy.

    Really nice and clean boardwalk

This beach is very nice and clean, also they have a long boardwalk and lots of entertainments and stores for you to shop. I was here last week for my trip and i think this is the only nicest place in nj so far that i know. By the way, if you plan to come to this beach, you shoul come after 3pm, cos if you come early than that, there is lots of store not open yet and the restaurant just served pizza only. Hope you like this beach, it really nicer than where i live.

Pros- Free Clean Family friendly Lifeguards Cons- Long walk to shore line Can get crowded

A popular beach with the locals and vacationers alike, thanks to the nearby baordwalk, amusement rides and water park. Despite this beach's width (can take several minutes to walk from the boardwalk to the ocean), it usually gets pretty crowded during the summer months. Arrive early to claim your spot near the water and take advantage of the newly raked sand. Beaches are relatively clean. The long walk to the ocean may be a struggle for those with lots of beach gear and/or small children. Plenty of lifeguards. If youre not staying at a motel adjacent to the boardwalk, you may struggle to find parking, which will make your walk to the ocean even longer.

    fire works at the shore

The Wildwood beaches are resort towns. Wildwood beaches are divided up into 3 areas. Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood. Wildwood is the one of the few free beaches at the Jersey shore. It is joined only by Atlantic city and a few other beach towns. They also have free fire works on Friday night's. It It is a part of Cape May county and is in South Jersey. It has a long board walk and really wide beach. It has the famous Morey Piers with rides and amusements. It attracts mainly people from South Jersey, PA, Canada and Deleware. Though people do vacation here from around the country it is not as popular as Cape May beach or some of the other resort towns. Because it is free it does tend to get crowded in the summer. One claim to fame of interest to me is it claims to have invented the Lime Rickey which I order whenever it is on the menu. Wildwood has had some renovation both on the board walk and in the town.It has a tram that takes you from end to end of the board walk. I have seen monster trucks on the beach so though the sand looks pretty it can't be too pristine. Rock Around the Clock was first performed by Bill Haley and the Comet's in Wildwood and the beach and town are full of history. It does have a board walk chapel with a summer gospel out reach but the rest of the town does not maintain the Christian vibe a few of the other shore towns do. It is not a dry town like Ocean city and Ocean Grove. It is still a little cleaner than Sea Side Heights and less wholesome than Ocean city.

It's swamped during holiday weekends and festivals down this area but it's a huge beach and a great boardwalk for all ages

Very clean with great vibes. I just wish the bike lanes on the boardwalk where more established and followed.
