Beautiful beach .. loved the clean sand and warm waters . Was fun to play by the beach and surf too. Beach is a good walk from the hotels and boardwalk. Parking is crazy and can get expensive . Luckily our hotel was close to beach and we just walked . Lots and lots of eateries and playing areas in the boardwalk closer to beach . wish they had more showers to clean ourselves . We just found a couple and it just had foot cleaners . We couldn't clean our heads and body and it just was a little disappointing ! Must visit place when you go to cape May. Beach itself- its very nice! Clean, beachy in all the right ways- but 10pm closure too early. Boardwalk nice, lots of cool shops and places to eat and amusement park and all. Town though- oddly devoid of shopping, feels more like a suburb with far too many houses vs any kind of shopping or entertainment. The most un-beach like beach town ever. It seems designed to keep tourists 1-2 blocks by beach, rest of Town devoid of interest. We just drove to Cape May. Sticking to OC, Maryland and Gulf Coast of Florida point forward. read more

We actually go to the 24th Street beach which is in North Wildwood. Nice sand. Competent lifeguards and regular visits by the iced coffee vendor and the fudgy wudgy man. Well manner crowd. Get to know the tide schedule so you can sit near the surf. read more

If you're a politician in Trenton our beaches are the pixie dust you sprinkle into every conversation to justify the general dysfunction and the unrivaled cost of living far from the surf and sand. Personally, I'd rather not live inside a politician's snowglobe or a Springsteen lyric, thank you very much. Sure there's Cape May and Stone Harbor where a reasonably serene, high cost of entry beach experience can be had but when it comes to high density, sun worshipping, I'll take a stale zeppoli, crushing traffic and Wildwood for 10 Alex. The beach is "free" meaning it's not and you'll inevitably pay downstream through overcrowding and public amenities that will quickly make you regret powering down that 80 ounce Slurpee on your sojourn south. And if the Boardwalk is your thing have a blast trying to jam a 12-inch basketball through an 8-inch hoop. Go for it Shaq, I dare you. Wildwood. It's all the fun you can stand with a few hundred thousand of your closet friends. Who am I kidding, everyone comes whether they want to or not... it's in the pixie dust. This is our go to beach for the summer. Lots of great food options along the boardwalk and tons of family friendly games at Morey's Pier. The sand is soft and fine. Beach tags aren't required unlike some other NJ beaches. You can ride your bike up until 1pm. The cons are that there aren't showers to rinse off the sand and it takes like 10-15 minutes from the boardwalk to get to the water. Be prepared to drag all of your stuff like half a mile through the sand. read more

Its very far from boardwalk... We were there on Labor Day weekend and day was not lucky for us. It was raining since morning and all we did stay in a hotel. We left for beach around 5 in the evening and decided to spend some time on boardwalk only. Beach is some 1/2 mile from the boardwalk and all I can see a long stretch of sand. I have never seen beach this far on the east coast. And I know this is not the case as sea water was not even reaching pier logs so I guess it is seasonal. I have also seen the board of beach movies on the beach but the water was clogged there, guess rain has spoiled everything. We spend some time walking on the beach. There was a wooden path till shore but we returned half way. read more

I could have sworn I reviewed Wildwood Beach in the past, but apparently not. If I had to pick my #1 beach in Jersey for a day trip, Wildwood would win the vote hands down. I know the town is far from perfect, but it's always welcoming to me and feels like my shore home after years of visiting in the summer. So, yes, you're gonna walk far to reach the ocean. Like, really far. So far they offer beach taxis for $3/adult. They also have porta potties halfway up to the boardwalk near makeshift walkways. I'd recommend avoiding them if you can. They smell. Generally the sand is pretty clean. I like visiting Wildwood Crest the most for extra space. Lifeguards stay on til 5:30 p.m. Oh. And it's free. I guess I should have said that first. read more

The beach is a great spot to come hangout with the family and enjoy the ocean on a hot summer day, but if you are coming down, park at pay the meter and beach out and 2nd Street Beach. It's nicer with the walk being closer and the ocean being close to. The meter parking is $2 hour. Definitely worth taking the trip hear.. On weekends parking fills up fast. So get hear early. They have a food cart most of the time where the guy sells hot dogs, preztels, soda, etc. And prices are not bad at all. They have bike parking to if you wish to drive you're bike down. read more

Very nice beach. Pretty fun boardwalk. Went for the 2018 4th of July. On the fourth the beach was busy but not annoyingly overcrowded. People came and went so the crowd volume stayed about the same. The day before the fourth, the beach was so empty and peaceful, I was shocked. If you are walking down the boardwalk, be sure to compare prices, there's really cheap hotdogs, burgers and pizza and some really expensive places too read more

You need to literally walk like 3-5 mins from the Boardwalk through the beach, in order to reach the water The sand is very soft, fine, which isn't particularly a good thing, because it easily gets anywhere - and I mean into your phone, for example. Great fireworks set on the beach for 4th of July and every Friday during the active summer season. Evidence: my girlfriend and I took a late night walk on the beach in Wildwood on Memorial Day, right between the amusment piers. In a word: gross. Garbage absolutely everwhere. Clearly people use this area to get drunk, mess around, and carelessly dump their party rubbish. Wildwood Crest, the southern part of the isle, is where it's at. The Wildwood beaches are resort towns. Wildwood beaches are divided up into 3 areas. Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood. Wildwood is the one of the few free beaches at the Jersey shore. It is joined only by Atlantic city and a few other beach towns. They also have free fire works on Friday night's. It It is a part of Cape May county and is in South Jersey. It has a long board walk and really wide beach. It has the famous Morey Piers with rides and amusements. It attracts mainly people from South Jersey, PA, Canada and Deleware. Though people do vacation here from around the country it is not as popular as Cape May beach or some of the other resort towns. Because it is free it does tend to get crowded in the summer. One claim to fame of interest to me is it claims to have invented the Lime Rickey which I order whenever it is on the menu. Wildwood has had some renovation both on the board walk and in the town.It has a tram that takes you from end to end of the board walk. I have seen monster trucks on the beach so though the sand looks pretty it can't be too pristine. Rock Around the Clock was first performed by Bill Haley and the Comet's in Wildwood and the beach and town are full of history. It does have a board walk chapel with a summer gospel out reach but the rest of the town does not maintain the Christian vibe a few of the other shore towns do. It is not a dry town like Ocean city and Ocean Grove. It is still a little cleaner than Sea Side Heights and less wholesome than Ocean city. read more

Every Friday after July 4th, Wildwood does fireworks on the beach at 10pm. In the middle of the beach, between the two piers, there are a lot of people who come for the day with a huge amount of people. Yesterday's quote of the day was " Where's the rest of my kids at?" An hour later, this woman was smoking a blunt with three toddlers around her under the beach entrance to Raging Waters. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing time, don't go to that part, especially on a Saturday. Because the beach isn't responsible for it's clientele, Wildwood's beach is still ok in m book. On the other hand for our first time experience going in each of the stores the staff were a bit pushy when we just got in. This meaning that we did not even get that much time to look around to find something that we liked. In one the stores a guy came up to us asking if we need help finding something. Dogs are allowed in certain parts of the beach. Plenty of umbrella, boogie board and chair rentals along the beach. There are also people who walk around selling ice cream and newspapers for beach goers. Waves never seem large enough for surfing, but are big enough for boogie boarding. Wildwood, North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest have a beautiful beach. Wide expanses with lots of room and fine, soft sand. They have lifeguards stationed close enough together that you can swim wherever you'd like (unlike some of the other beaches like Ocean City and Longport where the guards are only every few streets and people are herded together in front of them!) And to top off all this room and all those lifeguards, the Wildwood beaches are free to all. We love this place! read more
