They had tennis courts, basketball courts and a baseball field as well as a small amphitheater from what I could see. I'm sure they had more on the other side of the park but we were mostly on the playground side of the park.

I love National Parks…read more Not just because I'm patriotic with an environmentalist sensibility -- but because they are time warps of sorts -- a glimpse back at the way things once were and (hopefully) will be for our descendants -- long downstream. The Cape May National Wildlife Refuge is a pleasant respite from the commercialism of Jersey Shore holidays -- its' boardwalk attractions, fast food and fast living. It is well marked and you can bring your binocs along to spot wildlife and unique plants and flora found nowhere else. Better still -- bike in and hop scotch around between dunes and other natural formations -- but avoid crossing into the restricted areas that are clearly marked by Area 51 type warning signs -- lest you want automatic weapon toting humans rousting you. We walked the trails in sand, alongside more poison ivy in one 2 square mile stretch than I have probably seen in my entire life. Bring bug spray, a fishing pole to cast off the jetty -- and maybe even long pants and an epipen if you are especially sensitive to insect stings and poisonous plants. Free bird watching walks are regularly available and -- thankfully -- it is a relatively unpopulated attraction so it is soulful in its solitude.

Access from the beach is closed off by ropes and volunteers monitor those trying to walk the refuge from April thru September 31st. Protected area for migrating and nesting birds. There is a great trails to see the wildlife refuge. It runs parallel to the beach. Guided tours are available. We saw some great birds this summer landing on the beach! My first spotting of an American Oyster Cracker. I only wish I was able to get a picture, happened so fast. Don't forget your binoculars! The butterfly migration in October is really something to see, nature at its best. We have spotted white skunks, and have seen one coyote.

I took a one block walk and ran into this Excellent new park in the heart of Wildwood on Pacific and Cedar Avenues. There was an eight piece band playing and the park was crowded with adults and kids all having a great time on this summer evening. There's an advertising board in the park listing upcoming events. Walking around i saw this park is designed as beautifully as the other parks dotting the the North Wildwood , Wildwood and Wildwood Crest landscapes. What's unique about this park is that its a block and a half off the boardwalk in an area of town that has been under utilized the last 10 years. That's about to change because this park is going to draw families with it's beautiful design, comfortable seating and a Grassy knoll on which to spread out with your blanket and listen to nighttime concerts. Great marketing idea. Way to go Wildwood!!!

The dog park is on the sand with various obstacles to keep your pup engaged. There are separate entrances for small dogs and big dogs. Once inside, you can cross from either side through the central gazebo. Dogs can be off-leash in the park. Dogs are also allowed on the regular beach and to swim in the ocean, but must be leashed while on the beach. More details below. There is also a parking lot right on Ocean Ave between East Maple and East Glenwood Avenue for easy access. "Dogs visiting the Wildwoods area are welcome to join their families on the beach to swim in the ocean or visit the dog park. The Wildwood Dog Park & Beach is located between Glenwood and Maple Avenues. The dog park is open daily, and the dog beach is open from dawn to dusk. Use caution and only swim when a lifeguard is present. All rules for the Wildwood Dog Park & Beach are posted at entry and must be followed. Fresh water and clean up bags are available on site.
