Unfortunately, instead of compassion, we were met with rudeness and judgment. The staff member we spoke with was dismissive, belittling, and even brought up our recently deceased dog in a very insensitive tone. On top of that, she made a remark along the lines of "I don't know how people can have dogs when they can't pay for their vet bill," which was incredibly hurtful and unprofessional. Emergencies happen, and families deserve empathy not criticism when they're trying to care for a beloved pet. Most of the staff here were kind and professional, but unfortunately our experience was ruined by the receptionist. we were met with insensitivity and judgment, which made an already difficult situation so much harder. I'm deeply disappointed by the lack of compassion shown during such a stressful time. Pet owners go to the vet hoping for help and kindness, not to be shamed.

However, I have not had great experiences with Dr. Morgan. Perhaps, she is a naturally curt person, but the effect is that she leaves people feeling like bad pet parents. Regardless of what's going on with my pets, she makes it out to seem like I am not doing enough. I have enjoyed every other staff member, whether Dr. or vet tech, and I'm overall very grateful for the attention they give to my pets.

It's hard for me to comprehend that this is what veterinary care has come to…read more I arrived at their door at approximately 2 PM with my German Shorthaired Pointer who had 30 minutes prior encountered a porcupine and suffered the resulting mouth full of quills and obvious stress and discomfort. The response from the vet was "we're just about to start our afternoon procedures and can't help". Stunned I asked "really, she has a mouth full of quills"... the reply: "we're sorry" I then drove another 25 minutes to the vet on Falmouth Foreside who admitted us and after administering a mild sedative removed the quills and discharged my pup 30 minutes later. I would never recommend Cumberland Animal Clinic to anyone. Hopefully the vet didn't have too hard a day and got home on time. Again, is this what small animal veterinary care has become?

They have often been able to squeeze me in last minute when necessary, I have never had to wait past my scheduled appointment time, the office is immaculate, and Dr. Lucas especially has gone above and beyond for me as veterinarian. My dog absolutely adores it there; there is no place he is more excited to be. This excitement results in a rather naughty, licky, and rambunctious pup, but the people at CAC love him anyway, handling his energy with compassion and skill. I feel that my dog recieves the best care possible, and that I am treated with fairness, kindness, and respect. After receiving treatment at CAC, I always receive a follow up call to check on my dog's progress. Una's medical care is better than my own! She was scheduled for the surgery in Portland and I brought her to Dr. Riddell for a second opinion and to get all her immunizations up to date before surgery. He disagreed with the original diagnosis and said she had a "dock sprain". Golden's run to the end of the dock and stop short, she should be better in 2 weeks and gave me an anti inflammatory for her. I switched over to him permanently, because he was absolutely correct. He and his staff are so kind and friendly I look forward to the visit each summer.

Every aspect of Flukes service was professional and appropriate. The custom certificates, private cremation, claw print, packaging, and even a custom bag for pickup... All aspects of Flukes service either met or exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend them for anyone who has gone through the loss of a treasured pet.

Linda was kind enough to place Blobbo's remains in the urn that we had purchased elsewhere and, despite our not having requested anything other than clippings of our dear Blobbo's fur, (and we received quite a bit of that - thank you again, Linda,) we also received a lovely remembrance packet that contained his paw print on a heart-shaped piece of plaster, a lovely little remembrance bracelet, some wind chimes that will always remind us of our dear boy, a votive candle, and some candies. Finally, there was also a certificate as to individual cremation having been done that also contained a paw print on it. All of this was contained in a nice tote that was ours to keep and another reminder of our Blobbo. Thank you, Linda and Fluke's Aftercare, for the best possible experience we ever could have hoped to have under very sad circumstances.
