The dentist, dental assistant and receptionist all lied to me about the cost of my partial. I was reassured but then they put my account into collections. I spent a year calling and was absolutely ignored, then they blocked me from making any future appointments - because they were dishonest and refused to speak to me and sort the issue out. As a result of their dishonesty I am unable to use my dental insurance. Also you can't just speak to someone in the office, you have to call the main number and try to get ahold of the Bellingham office, good luck with that. 2 years later I have still not been able to speak to them even after detailed messages were left. The Bad and the Good. The Bad...you can NEVER get a braces appointment, if you need orthodontic work, go somewhere else. Literally been waiting 5 months just for my child to have a consultation, and the other child would go months getting her dates pushed back because of their Dentist being too full or something coming up. They have only 1 Dentist who does Orthodontic work, and she (while nice) is ALWAYS so full she just has no time for new patients and barely time for the ones she already took on. There is just Never enough dentists working here to see the amount of patients they have taken on in the Bellingham WA area. So if you are a person who needs a dentist (right when you need them)...Probably not your best choice (prepare to wait). Until they hire another person to help out that is. The Good, most of them are very nice. There are always a few exceptions which depends on their mood that day but that is rare (they are human after all), but for the most part they are very professional and courteous. The secretaries are first rate, and very kind, never a bad issue with either of them! The cost is better than most places with the Willamette Insurance. (Probably why they are just too busy). Willamette Dental is an awful place. I'd never recommend them for anything. I've been to several Willamette Dental offices, and this one is no better than any other one. I had braces for over 3 years, and I'm confident that I had them for over a year longer than I actually needed them. The staff is rude and obnoxious. And their prices are cheap, but they will suck every penny out of you they can. I went to my appointments once every six weeks for three years, and there was not a single instance where I didn't wait for at LEAST an hour because they overbooked. read more

I had Willamette Dental almost a decade ago and they were horrible. I was convinced they had changed practices since then (their MO then was "can't get you an appointment for 3 months but we'll fill you with vicodin until then" So this year I switched back to Willamette since I had a bunch of work that I had been putting off having done because of the cost. Good news: Willamette is still cheap. Bad news: they are still just as horrible, but now! in reverse! Now they'll get you an appointment right away (the same day, sometimes) but won't help you no matter how much pain they cause you. I had a few broken teeth repaired. No big deal and they were quick and cheap. The dentist isn't up for a lot of chatter, but that's ok, I don't need to be friends with my dentist. Two fillings and I was in and out of there in less than 1 hour and that included the numbing process. Then I needed a crown replaced. I broke it over a year ago and I knew I had damage to the tooth underneath. They kept telling me maybe I would lose the tooth. It was a back molar so I didn't really care, to be honest - just fix the thing, right? They pulled the tooth. TWO hours later, 4 separate numbings, 4 xrays and 2 dentists (since the first one couldn't accomplish it all) and 3 stitches - I am now traumatized for life. First of all, NOBODY should ever be awake during a tooth pulling. It's barbaric. They send me home with 10 vicodin (ooooh..don't go out of your way, now). 2 days later the pain is worse. Guess what? Dry socket. Wanna know why? Because the tooth extraction was extraordinarily rough and the dentist not entirely skilled in it. I've had four kids and this pain I am in right now is the worse thing of my life (and to be sure..I gave birth without painkillers). I can't even get the pain to stop, even with percocet. I called the dentist to refill my pain killers, to make sure I didn't run out over Christmas break since their office is closed and they said no. I am already on a liquid diet (read: no christmas dinner) because of this dry socket in my mouth. They are heartless and unskilled. I can't believe I ever signed up for them again. Nothing changes with these guys. The price is amazing ($15 out of pocket for a filling??) but the long term consequences aren't worth it. I can't even open my jaw all the way and let me tell you how that interefered with my Seahawk12th man game. They said it would take 2-3 weeks for this dry socket to heal. 2-3 weeks of lquid food and no painkillers. These people should be put out of business. read more

The level of care and customer service you will receive here is that which you can expect from any massive chain, such as McDonald's, Walmart, etc. As in you don't go to these places for quality service. The service was rude and the dental tech hurt me several times while performing my cleaning, despite my repeated requests for her to be more careful. I decided, after my first visit not to go back. When I asked for my X-rays to be faxed, emailed, or mailed to my new dentist of choice, I was told there would be a $10 charge. I shouldn't have to pay for my own records; they should be obligated by law to comply. Unfortunately, the law sides in favor of big business, rather than considering that individuals may not be able to afford such things. I get it-- if I am specifically asking for printed copies, ok sure, I will pay a fair amount for the paper and printer ink. However, in this day and age, everyone is online, all records are online, and I am confident that they could have emailed them free of charge. Yet they refused. And that is ridiculous. read more

I am a huge fan of Willamette Dental. Evidence based practice is the name of their game. They have figured out a model of care similar to Group Health--you go to one place and you get your work done there, no where else, unless you need a specialist, and yes they are good about referrals. You have to get used to a practice that isn't about milking the insurance company for all it's worth, but giving you the dental care you need. If you have good oral hygiene and your teeth are in good shape, chances are you will only need on cleaning a year. If you have a lot of dental problems, you will be seen as often as you need. The office in Bellingham is lovely, quiet and they are nice and professional. I would send anyone I know to Willamette Dental. read more

I had an amazing experience at Willamette! I was getting these splitting headaches and they fit me into an appointment the NEXT DAY! Amazing. Come to find out, my wisdom tooth had come through and split and had a cavity to the nerve! Ouch!! I called to get in to see a local oral surgeon, and they couldn't get me in for 4 weeks!! I was in way too much pain to wait that long, so Willamette called the surgeon and I was able to get in 6 days later. They were amazing to me! read more

Willamette Dental put me through hell. Multiple times. I have been going to Willamette since I was a little kid. As a little kid, I didnt know how much these guys were doing wrong. Numerous times they used dirty instruments on me, and since I have social anxiety I did not have the power to tell them the instruments were unclean. The orthodontist NEVER changed gloves. I mean, she touched the sink and the computer and the keyboard without changing gloves and then started working on me with the gloves she just rubbed all over the most likey dirty surfaces. They never numbed. When I had braces, they would force the wire into the bracket, which not only hurt like hell, but also broke rubber bands that they ended up CHARGING ME FOR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR FAULT THAT THEY BROKE. They were uncaring, dishonest, and made me have unnessesary treatment. They forced me to have molds made even though it makes me choke, and when the mold closed up my windpipe, the woman did not even care. It was terrifying. Every time we left, I cried. NEVER in my life would I go back to Willamette, or recommend anyone getting treatment there. read more

This is a fine place with a proactive approach to your dental health. If you need hand-holding and coddling, you may want to pay for the Town Car concierge level of service at your local artisinal tooth-smith. I prefer to pay for what fixes my teeth, not fresh flowers and thousand-dollar chairs in the lobby. Willamette is spartan and professional, just the way the dentist should be. He's gone to a different office now (I think his physician wife took a job someplace...?), but Doctor Dhillon at the Bellingham office was hands-down the best dentist I've ever met; kind, funny, gentle and efficient. What else is there? I imagine the whining kid below has never paid for a thing in his life. Easy to complain when it's mommy's purse you're reaching for when it's time to settle up... In my opinion, I will never be famous for my opinions. read more

The Bellingham Willamette has been a good experience for my sons and me for the past 4 years. They are friendly and professional. We have received a very good level of care. They were recently very helpful and communicative when my son was referred to a local oral surgeon (my son has needle phobia). Maybe the previous bad reviews people posted were from other locations. I just wanted people to know the Bellingham Location has been great. read more
