William is simply amazing! I called for an appointment for my 18 year old son. He had really long hair that he did not want to part with, but he also needed to look for a job! So William found the perfect cut; short enough for an employer, long enough for my son. He's had his hair cut twice now and will be calling soon for his next apt. He likes talking to Will and thinks he's pretty cool and has a good sense of humor. read more

William is master with a clipper. He prefers to use clippers over scissors (at least for my hair) and does a great job. No hair under my tshirt and I dont know how he manages it. read more

Will is the man. I have gone to so many places for so many years. From hole in the wall Vietnamese places to nice salons in SF and Santana Row. I could never find the perfect place. Either one was too expensive to be done every 4 weeks or the other side of the spectrum my hair got totally botched. Will has done a great job with my hair and has told me how to style it, comb it hair dry it, etc. I love everything about this place, it is what a mens haircut should be. Yes the place could be cleaner, but then it wouldn't be the same. Also if you want a nice clean salon don't expect to pay $17 for a haircut. Some of the other comments below giving this place anything under 4 stars are ridiculous. I brought my friend here who has a nightmare of hair, curly, colored, etc. Will fixed his hair and even my friend goes to Will now. I will be going here for as long as I live in the bay. read more

Was looking for a new hair salon away from over-priced Santana Row options. Found William through yelp and have to say it's the best place I have been to since living in the Bay Area. He uses scissors mainly, clippers just for trimming, and gives you exactly the haircut you want. I used to have a hard time explaining to other hairdressers what I wanted because I have special needs due to some balding spots. William was able to translate what I said I wanted into a great finished product. I am as happy about this haircut as it gets. On top of that WIlliams is a really nice guy and has great prices ($16 for a men's haircut and it only took 40 mins). read more

William is a great guy. I walked in without an appointment on a Friday evening. He was booked with appointments, but he was kind enough to squeeze me in. He is very friendly and easy to talk to. William has definitely made me a believer out of Barber Shop hair cuts. I will never go to a Supercuts or any other type of salon again. I've been to will 3 times now. He's awesome--if you tell him what you want, he does it with precision and makes notes for future visits! He used to work on Santana Row and it's very clear that he has many, many years of experience in this field. I have asked him on several occasions to just use his own judgement/opinion on certain details when cutting my hair, and I have always been pleased. On top of all of this, Will gives a haircut worth way more than $22, so he really is a rare value in an otherwise generally expensive place (the bay area). So I came here based on good reviews on Yelp. Met with William, and showed him a haircut I like. First thing he said was he cannot give me that haircut because he's a cosmetologist not a barber. I still let him to cut my hair though. Even though I said I am growing the top part of my hair, he didn't do any adjustments on the top, I mean, did not even touch at all! And the sides of my hair wasn't satisfying either. I wanted to have a fade undercut, but he wasn't able to provide it. I don't know why people wrote so many good things about here. read more

I was looking for a good barber for my teenage son close by home so I decided to jump on Yelp to find one. We were disappointed to the last few places we went. His cut never turned out how he wanted. They either buzzed it too short or chopped it all up when he requested a shaggy do (Ashton Kutcher's style). I guess that's what you get when you go to the cheap places. Don't get me wrong... There's nothing wrong with the cheap places if you just need a simple cut, fade or buzz. My husband has been going to a cheap Asian barber for many years and he's very happy with his barber. I knew in order for my teenager son to get the style he wanted he would have to go to a nice salon. I don't see the sense of paying $40-60 for a men's haircut for my teenage son so I jumped on Yelp. So after seeing all the nice review at the right price, I decided to give this place a try. Yet again I'm never let down by Yelp. My son got a hair wash which was a first for him. I don't think I've ever seen a barber do this before so this was a nice bonus. Then he got his hair cut or shall I say razor cut from William and it turned out exactly how he wanted. We were both very happy with the results and my son is definitely going to be a regular client now. The price is just right at $16. The barber shop is very clean and with a salon feel to it. William, who also is the owner is very nice and talkative guy. We both really liked him and liked the fact that he really put a lot of attention to the cut. read more

Finally after 13 years I have finally found someone who can cut my hair properly. As most of the reviewers have said Will is the man you wanna see if you want your hair shaped and textured properly. For me the measurement of skill is how little effort it appears for the person to execute. Will does just so. Causally cuts your hair but the end result is amazing. read more

I was introduced to William 15 years ago through a close friend, and have been going to him ever since my first visit. He's the ONLY person I know that can cut your hair the way you like it, every time... he is very consistent. William creates a profile for you, logging any subtle changes, buzzer sizes, hair colors, days and times that work for you, etc. into his laptop, so you know that your hair will turn out the same way every time! He's detail oriented, very open, honest, and knowledgeable when asked for his opinion regarding your hair. Over a year of searching for him, the search for Karvon has finally ended!! This brutha can cut!! After getting a few cuts by Big Jim, I switched over to Karvon one day since Jim was too busy. Then one day he was gone without a trace. Word on the street was that Karvon was still doing big thangs in SC.. I managed to track him down at Custom Hair Styling!! I went there yesterday, and even though he was running late for school, he knew I had to look sharp! He took his time, hooked me up with a bad a$$ fade boxed up the chin strap, and hooked it up with an old fashion razor cut to give that sharp, clean appeal. Dude, is bad what can I say. I started getting my hair cut by William about 2 years ago and I have never been disappointed. He takes his time, and is really attentive. I have really thick hair, and I have never found a hairdresser that could tame my mane until now. He does an excellent job, and he is really precise (not to mention the prices are extremely reasonable). I have always been able to make an appointment without any problems.
