When I called and wanted the explanation of a charge that was not estimated. I was sent to the billing department. Where the lady kept talking down to me, without listening to me. We had a seven minute conversation and she started to accuse me of yelling at her which I told her I was not doing. She then placed me on a 4 minute hold. When she came back she said that the doctor was not in she talked to his Son. Who said that when I come in for my next appointment I should discuss it with The doctor. (No resolution) If this is a portion the insurance did not pay. It should be labeled that way. Not as an additional line item labeled something else.

Cheryl, my hygienist, and Dr. McDonald and Ashley have been the most amazing team over the last year, in particular as I cracked two teeth as a result of extreme stress. They guided me through a very painful process and made sure my mouth feels and looks perfect at the conclusion of the work. The work performed is of high quality (as are the labs that they use - for crowns, implants, mouth guards). They have stayed on top of technology so imaging is easy, painless and comprehensive, including 3D digital models. They show the utmost care to their patients before, during and after procedures. The staff is friendly but still professional. The work above all else is thorough and exceedingly well executed. My husband has also had good experiences over the years (although he has needed less dental work, thankfully!) but as a family, we are beyond pleased. I couldn't recommend this dentist more highly. There are some cases when work is authorized by insurance at a certain expected amount, but the actual charges are different. I have never had an issue with this, as it's clearly explainable (the procedure had to go a different way, or the insurance covered something at a higher percent). The clinic "banks" any overpayment for us, and we use it for any charges we might accrue going forward. They have offered to reimburse us as well, but with a family that goes to the same dental clinic, keeping the overpayment there simplifies things for my purposes and I appreciate that they are willing to do that. I saw him at 10am and he…read moredecided a root canal was in order, since he already had 3 root canals to do that morning he asked if I wanted to come back in the afternoon. That was fine since I work about 4 miles from the office. When I got back to the office about 3:00pm I only had to wait about 5 minutes. This was the 1st time I've had a root canal done so I was really nervous. He explained everything very well so that helped. The other thing that I really liked was he was very thorough and made sure that I was completely at ease. I have had other dentists that just get in there and get it done rather than take the time to explain what exactly is going to happen. From what I had heard, I was expecting to be in a ton of pain. Fortunately it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. There was discomfort once the local anesthetic wore off but he had prescribed some pain meds. Which led to my 1st problem with my experience. I ended up having an allergic reaction to the meds. Fortunately it was just a rash and nothing serious. The problem comes in with the fact that I called his main office number after hours (as his website says to do) to have him call a different prescription in because of the pain. This was on a Friday morning. Unfortunately I never heard back from anyone at the office. The second problem I had was due to some pain in my mouth about a week after the initial procedure. The pain was similar to a cramp in your leg as though I had pulled a muscle. My wife called the office at 1:00pm (when they opened) and spoke to the receptionist. When my wife explained my situation, the receptionist sounded concerned and said she would call my wife back as soon as possible. Since I was leaving work about 3:15, my wife decided to call back about 3:00pm if she hadn't heard from them because she didn't want me to drive all the way home and have to drive back to the office if I needed to go in. When she called back at 3:00pm she was put on hold for over 10 minutes and finally hung up. Dr. Jenness called her back about 3:50pm. When she explained the entire situation (the call on Friday included) he said that they don't check the phones on the days they are off. Which didn't explain why someone didn't follow up with me about the rash and need for a different pain med. He did call in a muscle relaxer for the cramp like pain I was experiencing though. Overall I was really impress with Dr. Jenness & his assistant during the root canal. I would have given him a 5 star rating were it not for the lack of follow up, the 11 minutes on hold & the fact it took almost 3 hours to hear back from him regarding the cramping pain.

I didn't feel like I could ask as many questions or clarify as much as I would have liked. I have a limited income (I went to this location after purchasing a $50 Groupon for cleaning and exam) and I walked out feeling like there was no way I could possibly afford to care for my mouth as recommended. I have gone to the dentist for cleaning and exam at least once a year my entire life and have never been told that there was so much wrong with my mouth. If I could afford it, I would get a second opinion on some of the recommended procedures.
