He has come in, on his own time, when we've had emergencies. His staff is very personable, and even for semi-annual checkups, they take the time to know who they are working on. He has made time during his lunch on short notice to attend to our emergencies. Dr. Yuenkel takes the time to explain procedures, explain x-rays and what is seen on them, as well as explain what can't be seen, but what he knows by training and experience. He keeps up with evolving trends, but does not jump on the latest band wagon just because it's trendy. His rates are very reasonable, and he works with you to cause the least amount of pain to your wallet too. The hygienists have all been replaced and the good ones left are leaving left and right. The hygienist I saw 6 months ago is no longer there, what does that say? Today I had an appointment at 8am, and silly me I had it in my calendar for 8:45. My fault, yes. I'm a busy woman, and made a mistake. I received a call that they are charging my account $50 for a "no show" and that they will no longer provide care to me... Over ONE late appointment! I asked if I'd ever signed a document acknowledging the $50 policy and was told that I hadn't and that the new policy went into effect about a year ago. They are sending a final bill and refuse to provide my medical records to another office until the balance is paid. This doesn't seem legal yet alone I'm shocked that this is how they treat their patients. I'm just at a loss for words and respect for this practice and the new doctors that are running it into the ground. The previous doctor was incredible and so kind. This is so unfortunate. It's a hard sell for TMJ services with every appointment. Cost for TMJ services: Assessment $650 and treatment $5400-6500 (services weren't clarified) with payment required upfront. He says he uses a third-party to maximize insurance payout and after that is received, he would refund anything that insurance covers. When I asked what patients do when they can't afford this treatment, he became defensive and explained that he couldn't provide services for free (which I wouldn't expect). I found a local (TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Center) doctor who is excellent, fitted me with a night guard for under $200, and that has very clear patient costs for services after insurance, and charges much less overall.
