Update: still a poor choice for family care. My kidney issues seem to be stabilizing and improving…read moresince I got off the meds Moser had prescribed ( for 30 years). I fail to see how a Dr living in Spain can be an effective personal doctor. They have associates, I'm sure. If you want to be taken care of by a consortium of Dr's, that your business. But I would prefer one person, one person to rely on and to compliment or complain about when things go wrong. You should not have to see your Dr thru a two dimensional tv screen. I thought I had a reliable San Francisco doctor. He turned out to be the money grubbing type that flew away from San Francisco at the first chance his patient's money would allow.

I've been a patient for many years. Unfortunately for me I'm back at Kaiser, which is better insurance but less good care. Someday I'll be back. In the meantime you should take my place. Why? You ask. Because Maura provides excellent care. She and the staff are smart and they aren't your typical "get through the day" employees. They all seem to enjoy their day and each other. Plus, what really makes them exceptional is their sense of humor. This is a nifty treat for those of us who savor this human behavior. It's hard to get it right. Too much and it is contrived and distracting. Too little and it's, well, humourless. Dr Moser's office gets it right.

The director, Soona?, called the next day and all she had to offer was a line of PR crap that had been vetted by them. She answered no questions and offered no help, even though I asked repeatedly, she just went into "I'll bring it up at a staff meeting" mode. I'm SURE that there is better available than that, I just got the wrong three people. The next day I called back, same we don't know huh the same Mariah quote that is so tired AHF Pharmacy employees have NO IDEA how to work with PRC........is it like some feud back waaay up yonder that you never hear/heard about? Literally a different Dr. Or at less only a RN to refill scripts. Unfortunately my las visit on January 28, 2022 was one that has put an end to my 20 years as a patient, thanks to so called Dr. Lara West, from the LA AHF recently transferred to Seattle and supposedly "helping out" at the San Francisco clinic. This rent a Dr was not only insulting and clearly no happy with her transition to Seattle and now SF, she clearly had a chip on her shoulder no bed side manner. Only was interested in my prescriptions I'm currently on, and the meds "she" feels I don't need fTom my releasing Neurologist of 5 years regarding my Epilepsy she stated wasn't In my records she had. The appointment was originally for a rectal Pap smear. Yet she was only concerned with her opinion on my Neurologist long term therapy, THC therapy and clonazapam 1 mg and 1 mg Xanax as needed for auras. I've suffered from tonic clonic seizures since I was 33. I'm now 52. 6 years seizure free! Yet off all first baseline AED that literally ruined my quality of life. She refused to listen to anything that I had to say from my past and pressured me to return to a neurologist, not to mention that could take up to 6 months or longer during Covid to get to one as stated by my primary care Physician, and just steamrolled me about her personal agenda and refused to respect my team of 5 neurologists in 2 States that have helped me along my journey of being weened off all these toxic meds and left on a regimen of the least amount of seizure meds that work in suppressing my seizures. She treated me as if I was a drug addict pill chaser which if anyone knows me. I've fought to get off of as much medications Drs have put me on for said issues. Ms. West was only concerned with a std screening and bullying me regarding if I even actually have epilepsy! At this point I walked out of her makeshift office and refused her request to have my labs done. No thanks. I have great health insurance and an amazing Primary care Dr I'm returning to. Now it made sense why the pharmacy gave me a call a week before to tell me that this Dr is causing issues with patients by refusing to refill any meds that aren't hiv related. Yet you don't have to be hiv + to be a patient and all my scripts have always been handled by AHF as they need state funding for patients like myself and literally took over my scripts years ago along with my primary care Dr receiving all my records and labs from AHF. Ms West then went on to try to scare me? With comments about the devastating shortage of qualified Doctors that I'm going to experience like none ever seen before. WTF? I'm now locked in a room with a 40 year old disgruntled Dr without a practice judging me and try to use fear tactics. For?? I can only imagine, to get rid of as man good patients so as to where we don't return so Ms West can go back to Seattle. I looked forward to seeing my caretakers at AHF. I made a day of going into the City. Especially during the pandemic. It gave me something to look forward to. Sadly until they are able to find a Dr that can stay I won't return. There's been at least 5 Drs this year. I've never had any issues with any of them including the Medical Director Dr that said something like this will not hap. Ever other Dr has been a plea to see. I feel sorry for the staff clearly their hands are tied n they need to save their job as well. Unf for Ms. West. I have nothing but time on my hands to make sure that this is reported to AHF corpo and the Director of Doctors for AHF. I'm not to be had by anyone who only wants to change the quality of my health care in 10 minutes of meeting with absolutely zero information other than their perception. She could do everyone a favor and not return to. "Help" at our clinic! FYI. DOCTOR West. Isn't a doctor at all. She recently took a 16 month online course for a DNP! She's basically a glorified Nurse. Who acts like a power tripping Dr! Shame on this woman for not being honest with the patients!

A single, simple migraine medication is NEVER properly refilled and authorizations expire leading to me receiving ridiculous medication denial letters in the mail. Apparently, she thinks a migraine medication is frivolous and not important. Not to mention being misdiagnosed with a cyst on my hand when it was actually a specific type of arthritis among other unnecessary misdiagnoses. Go somewhere else if you're looking for realistic care. If you want healthcare that's a joke, then this is the place for you! Also, this office specifically focuses on AIDS, HIV, and STD's, so anything else they don't give a rats a** about, nor are they experienced with. Just because she's a PCP doesn't mean anything. Don't be fooled by that. In the future, I will not choose a doctor out of convenience with the location or because they're female. I will drive 25 miles if I have to find ANY doctor that cares and knows what they're doing. Also the waiting room is filled with rainbow flags, rainbow decorations and rainbow decor. So if you like being bombarded with LGBTQIA propaganda, you'll fit right in. I've NEVER in my entire life been in a doctors office like this. Highly unprofessional and overbearing. Just stick to healthcare and treating patients- that's it, no need for all the other nonsense. You can make ALL patients feel welcome without going overboard like that. RIDICULOUS.

I was able to see Dr. Owen once; however, one must book an appointment far in advance because he is too busy. After the initial visit, the staff will tell you that Carl Stein (the PA, NOT a Doctor) is the only option unless you want to wait a few months. Carl Stein is an extremely rude person who spoke to me as if I were a child. I found myself dreading each appointment and finally decided that it was not worth the anxiety before and during appointments there and found another doctor. It is obvious that this practice is after the dollar more than out to help patients. The base price for my initial exam was around $450 and only took about 20 minutes. I realize prices are more expensive here in San Francisco but it seemed very greedy to me. Please don't make the same mistake that I did. There are much better options in San Francisco.

If you go, make sure you have ALL your insurance information and forms and address/phone/fax numbers ready, because they won't lift a finger to help (and as they spat out to me, "we're understaffed and don't have time to look anything up!" ) I'm still stunned by the experience. I complained to Dr. Owen in a letter, but never received a response - I'm assuming the office staff just tossed it. On a positive note, I found Kapla Medical Group in the same building, with William Kapla and his fantastic physician's assistant Greg Sauers. Super friendly staff and the most high tech medical office I've ever seen. Nothing hand-written - all diagnoses, tests, and prescriptions are in the computer and printed out when you leave - I finally feel like I understand my own medical records.

I love that he explains everything to me like why he is choosing a certain treatment over another and he also called in other experts from CO to help him make the correct decisions with me.... I believe he basically said 'I dont feel comfortable making this decision alone" so he called some other docs more familliar with a case like mine. He does lots of research, makes sure Im getting routine tests done when on antibiotics and such to monitor kidney and liver levels etc. Basically he knows his stuff and his limits but will do research to expand his knowledge base and he will tell you that (at least for me, he keeps me updated on his thought processes). He has maybe a "dry" sense of humor but it fits me and my parents and we get along great with little jokes here and there. Also I am 22 so Im at that stage where my parents opinions can matter or not to a doctor (or to me haha) but he always explains things to them as well and includes them. In all honesty I would love to try Stanford as a hospital but because of Goodman (and Dr. Brown and their team efforts in taking care of me) there is no way I could leave such great quality healthcare. If you read this Goodman, Thanks! And dont make fun of me.
