Came in here to get my platinum wedding band resized. Some jewelry places can be imitating and off-putting. In the past, I've frequented jewelry shops and they're often stuffy and a bit cold but not this place. The staff were so friendly and asked how they could help me. I told them I needed my ring resized and asked me questions on how often I wear the ring and if I ever take it off and with this information they made my ring a bit smaller knowing that it would expand a bit due to me never taking it off and platinum being a very malleable metal. Pricing was very fair ($65) and in 20 minutes I was walking out the door. My ring came back looking brand new, almost didn't believe it was the same ring. It was a 10.5 and they resized it to a 9. He made sure to leave the engraving as is. Great craftsmanship. They didn't try and sell me anything while I was there which I so appreciate but I will def be coming back in the future! read more

Just recently engaged, I was looking for a place to get my engagement ring resized. I found Russell's store after doing some research online. From what I read online, not all jewelers can/will resize a ring made out of rose gold because not all jewelers carry rose gold solder. I called Russell to check if he could do it and he said he could and gave me an estimate over the phone. Russell was very honest and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain to me how to take care of my ring and he made sure I was comfortable with how the ring would fit. He also let me look at the GIA serial# under the microscope to put my mind at ease before I left the ring with him. I was expecting to pick up my ring in a few days, so I was pleasantly surprised when Russell called me less than 2 hours later to let me know my ring was ready to be picked up. First, Russell Schwartz is a true artist and a master of his craft. He possesses deep knowledge of gemology and made sure we were properly educated on diamond grading systems and the qualities to look for in selecting the best diamond. Following the first consultation, he even told us to go forth and explore other options in Philly and beyond, but it was clear to me that there was no better option for the ring I was looking for. Russell was very kind, personable, and frank (not pushy like many other jewelry store owners), and it definitely showed that he is truly passionate about creating excellent jewelry. My partner and I recently asked Russell to make custom engagement/wedding rings for both of us. When we came to him with a design in mind, he asked many thoughtful questions about each of our styles, our occupations, how we met and how we wanted the rings to look. We never once felt rushed during this process. He was able to walk through our design in great detail and give us specific examples of how the rings would look when finished. This was so so helpful because he was able to reflect to us parts of our design that we didn't actually like, but didn't know it. For example, we asked Russell to make an engagement ring with a rose gold band and to repurpose a diamond that we had in the family. He was able to tell us that if we used a rose gold setting for the diamond, the diamond would look pink and that if we wanted the diamond to shine white, we should actually go with a white gold setting. Pro tips like these were incredible. Since we were entrusting him with our diamond, he was able to reassure us that we were getting the same diamond back by showing us the laser inscription within the diamond before and after. Russell also touched base with me to come in and see how rings looked every step of the way. He is incredibly knowledgeable and his price point is very reasonable. We were in Philly for a couple of days for fun. Staying in the area, we were looking up places around the area. After seeing great reviews on this place on Yelp, we decided to venture in to see what made this place so special. And maybe see if I can pick up a new piece of bling. In terms of what they have out on display - nothing for my style - if it wasn't for the great reviews, I would probably have walked by and not even stop. But when we walked in there was amazing customer service! Russell was super nice! They asked what we were looking for, as we definitely didn't look like his typical clientele. So we explained to him that we saw the reviews online about his store and wanted to check it out. There was a review that talked about how Russell provided education on diamonds, so I wanted to test him out. I had a diamond ring that had lost a diamond and I wasn't happy with the replacement. So I showed him the ring and he was able to see what I was talking about it. He was really nice, he mentioned that the jeweler did do a good job but only a certain type of people can see that the colour of the replaced diamond was off. So he actually spent some time looking through his stash of loose small diamonds to see if he could find me the exact size and colour that l liked. He was totally into working with me on finding the right diamond. And they didn't pressure us to purchase anything. He was also great to talk about getting a custom ring done. Based on our conversations, he definitely is a great place to get a custom ring done! What an unusual place. I found Russ a few decades ago and he became my go-to for repairs. I had bought three (tri-color) bracelets, which a jeweler friend ordered from Italy for me. The catches were finicky and one was always breaking. I swear Russ felt bad taking my money. That's how he is. One day when I was in the store a young couple came in looking for something. She also wanted her diamond cleaned and she was ready to leave it. Russ, in his incredibly forthcoming way, told her under no uncertain terms that she should not leave her diamond with a stranger - without proper appraisal. He cleaned the ring in front of her. When I initially went to William S. Schwartz, they were in a dark, dated space not obvious to by-passers. They have since moved into bright, new space and the jewelry looks even better. He's now carrying a number of unique lines and has a wonderful selection at all price points. And, if he doesn't have what you want, he'll get or make it. I highly recommend Russ at William S. Russel is a third generation owner in this family-founded business. He was friendly, upfront, and clearly explained the appraisal process to us. He cleaned my ring and did the entire appraisal right in front of us so we never felt uncomfortable about the ring being out of our sight. He even provided guidance on searching for insurance. Overall great experience, the store was beautiful and all of the staff members were friendly and inviting. Would recommend anyone to go here for service. The turnover time for the appraisal is a day which is awesome and you can pick it up or they mail it to you. Appraisals are by appointment, but they are flexible and accommodating. I (lightly!) smacked my fiancé and my engagement ring got caught on his backpack - the ring bent and a few prongs began to stick out. It was unwearable. I looked on yelp to find a jeweler who did repairs and read amazing reviews for William Schwartz Jewelry. My experience in the shop completely lived up to the glowing reviews. I walked into the store and was immediately helped by a consultant (who I think I overwhelmed by almost crying because I'd only had my ring for a few months). The owner came over super quickly and saw what was wrong with my ring before I'd even handed it to him. He had it unbent, prongs fixed and shined up in about 4 minutes max, and handed it back to me asking to see it again preemptively in a few months. I asked him how much I owed for the repair and he just shook his head; no charge. The ring was bought online so I was concerned that it wasn't real since it had bent so easily. He put my mind at ease immediately after looking at it more closely - he really knows his stuff and told me that the creator of my ring had even used the vintage prong shapes that he would have used. I came to William Schwartz Jewelry to see if they could resize it and they warned me that the $25 resizing cost would be more than what I paid for the ring but I was very happy to pay it.
