They keep the facility clean. Generally aides are helpful and friendly but just like any place there are a few bad apples in the bunch. I highly rate the medical staff but a concern is there is no on site dietician. Medication is dispensed appropriately. The Rehab component is above average. When I first got here I had problems with balance and was a fall risk. While I'm not 100% I have, in my estimation, improve to 60-75%. The bad - the food!! Half the things that appear on your menu card don't appear on your tray. I'm told I can ask for any kind of pleasure food I want but have no avenue to communicate this to the kitchen spontaneously. Food preparation is lacking in taste, appearance and basically - common sense. Rice and vegetables not cooked long enough. Proteins like chicken, beef or pork cooked so long it can't be digested by average people, let alone seniors whose digestive systems are compromised. I question how much actual nutrition remains if cooked this way. Additional nutritional supplements are few and far between. Most importantly any fresh fruits are replaced with canned fruits, some of them too hard. Desserts are either those fruit choices or 1 cookie. I've gotten ice-cream 3 or 4 times ( Skippy cups) no quality kind of ice cream or quality of any ingredients they use. My niece brought me watermelon and I thought that I died and went to Heaven! The residents are friendly but seem depressed by their situation. I would suggest more communication between staff and residents in group get-togethers. Giving residents a feeling of being united in a cause is inspiring and uplifting. read more

I never realized how dire this nursing home/rehab was until my brother was there. Unfortunately he was too ill maybe to be considered for a rehab and there were times I left in tears when I observed the environment. While they were in the process of painting it wasn't enough to compensate for the lack of cleanliness. Bathrooms not cleaned regularly. Often no toilet paper was available. I actually brought some from home and kept out of sight for my brother and his roommates use. The bedding was old and worn and the beds themselves old. Windows did not open for fresh air. Even the clock on the wall lacked a battery which I provided. Transportation that was provided for medical appointments was often sketchy. Times when being at dialysis appointments for 3-4 hours, patients still maybe had to wait another uncomfortable hour to be brought back. Often brought back to sit in their room until staff could come and help them to bed. Once after returning I found my brother sitting in his wheelchair still in his coat. Some staff expressed frustration with their jobs and their attitudes reflected this. Some staff had fingernails that were so long it didn't seem possible to use their hands fully. They do wear gloves, thankfully. Wait times were overly long until the help button was responded to. Again sometimes an attitude of being bothered created uncomfortable exchanges. After a while complaints became useless and patients had to sit in soiled bedding or worse. My brother had fallen and did sustain a head bruise and the trauma of not being helped in a timely manner. As a consequence of his fall he was made to sit in the hallway, near the staff's desk for hours on end. It was loud, crowded and very uncomfortable. I know there were also good and compassionate workers and for them I feel sorry. I know lack of better jobs in this field appear to be scarce. The new ADON is horrible. She's in their firing. Everyone. They're all sleeping with with each other, nurses and CNA's. Never has any linen to do your job. The place is horrible. Don't work here or put your family they do not care. They rarely give baths to residence or feed them properly. They yell at them and ignore them. This place is a joke!! They don't administer medication to my grandma the way she should be given them! They don't seem to care about the patients as my grandma sat in shit for two hours! It's absolutely disgusting in here. I left here and immediately showered when I got home because of how dirty it is. The staff really did not care, they refused to help with the phone issues that were happening have spent over 24 hrs trying to get in contact with my husband who is there, and still I get the run around, its very frustrating when no one at the place cares about you or your feelings. Two Words. HELL. HOLE. If you have ever seen the show Golden Girls, and wondered what "Shady Pines Retirement Home" would have looked like, this would be the perfect set for it. My aunt was transferred here from Mercy Hospital (THAT is a separate matter I am dealing with), and I was about 10 minutes ahead of the transport van. I pulled onto the property and there were two buildings. One said "Williamsville Suburban Nursing Home" on one, and the other was a much larger building tucked back. When I parked, I thought "wow good thing she's going to be in this building and not that bigger one." Welp. I was wrong. The website shows these beautifully manicured rooms with televisions and modern updated features. THAT IS THE REHAB FACILITY ONLY. The "Long-term" care facility is the big building in the back and looks like the Bates Motel. The halls smelled of urine. There was dust CAKED on blinds all over the place. There are punch holes in the wall with bad spackle jobs over it. When they wheeled my aunt into what would have been her room, it was a double room, and she had no furnishings whatsoever. Oh wait no I'm wrong. YOU GOT YOUR OWN BULLETIN BOARD! Her roommate said she has been waiting 6 months for a phone in her room. I went to confirm with them that my aunt would be getting the incontinence care that she needed, that the hospital specifically noted that she needed, and the one lady said "she can sit on a bed pan all day." Why don't YOU go sit on a bed pan all day ma'am? I wanted her out of there and I wanted it now. I WILL say that Amanda, the nurse supervisor was VERY nice and understanding how visibly upset I was at the situation and helped me with getting her signed out AMA. At one point, I was on the phone outside crying that I cannot let her stay at this dump. I paid $400 for the transport vehicle to come and pick her up and I just took her home. I would rather put my own blood, sweat, and tears into her care because I could not, in good conscience, kiss her goodbye, get in the car, and go home, leaving her there. You should all be absolutely ashamed of yourselves for thinking that ANY part of your facility is deemed suitable for care. I will be filing a complaint with New York State, because that place needs to be shut down. read more

Hi, I stayed in their rehab the first of this year. The place was cluttered and very dirty. See my photos. My room was so dirty it was scary. The food was even worse; an example was white bread and mystery meat with vegetables that where so mushy you didn't need teeth. This was 3 meals a day. I lost weight while I was in there. I was there for about three weeks because I had to rehab my feet after a stint in my cancer hospital. The only positive is there was a small handful of great employees. When I first checked in directly from my cancer hospital I was left without a way to get from bed to the bathroom because there where times more often then not that you couldn't raise an employee on their "buzzer" system. I WOULD NOT recommend this place for rehab. Lastly but most important I had issues getting my needed medication. This was so very sad as I have stage 4 cancer. Bottom line if you or a loved one need to go into rehab after a hospital visit and/or surgery CHECK THE PLACE OUT BEFOREHAND. read more

This facility is flat out FILTHY. having a family member reside there while doing a very long physical rehab, i was SHOCKED at how absolutely filthy dirty this place is, corners of hallways, elevators, rooms are BLACK. i had to clean the family members bathroom using cleaning supplies from home, i changed the black water 3 times, just from the bathroom to getting outside the bathroom door. Chipping nasty years old boogers off the walls, that were far too high for our family member to reach. The drawers were obviously never washed out prior to anyone using them again. The bathroom window fell out of the frame while i was there, crashing onto the floor. In the "lunchroom" or where the residents eat their meals, a woman's wheelchair was parked on what appeared to be a puddle of urine. Not only sitting on the puddle, but she continued to struggle eating on her own and had urinated into the puddle while I witnessed this happening. There wasn't one aide, nurse, to assist the woman. The women aide's, talk like they're at happy hour sitting on a bar stool. "F this, Mother F'in that" all throughout the hallways, with ZERO regard for any type of professionalism. There are some very nice aides i must say, but they are FAR AND FEW!!! I asked for a broom,, after I'd been there an hour, one never appeared. I was there last night, AFTER, I'd gotten up to the room, I was told i may want to put on a mask, as Covid is now in the building. There was no sign on the front door, The woman at the front desk didn't pick her head up to even look at me, let alone advise me, or offer a mask to me. It was 88 degrees out, the gas fireplace in the front hall was on, the family members room was very hot. The front door has a sign, NO SMOKING ON PREMISES and 50 feet from the building. 2 workers were standing a step outside the door, both smoking. THIS PLACE IS A DISGRACE!!!!!! If you have a choice, NEVER GO THERE, EVER!!!!! It makes me anxiety ridden every time I have to walk into this shit hole. read more

Unprofessional. Today a member of staff, a man named Nick, screamed at my mother today over claims that he was rude to her. For him to scream at a helpless woman hooked up to an oxygen tank tells me all I need to know about him as a man. When I called the facility to straighten the story out and find a solution, he was very dismissive, claiming he's a "professional". I've been inside that facility, from the odor, to the layer of filth & grime on the tablet to sign-in as a visitor, and now insecure staff members attempting to more or less pick fights with patients. It's everything BUT professional. He also proceeded to hang up the phone on me, further reinforcing the claim that he is rude, unprofessional, and abusive to his patients. Staff refused to provide me with a last name or any real assistance. Most of them are new or under qualified so that really isn't their fault. But between neglect, poor quality-of-life, filthiness, and unprofessionalism, now my mother has to worry about fear of retaliation from an insecure man who's job is too important for his skill-set. After staff being rude & dismissive trying to file a complaint with the facility. I have since contacted the NYS Department of Health, and intend to contact local authorities as well in regards to patient abuse. read more

This place is a pit-hole as well. Although I have to say, some very nice people work here. The nurse supervisor was running up and down the hall trying to oversee and accomodate everyone. Not enough staff to go around. If I wanted anything, I had to walk down to the nurse's station and stand around till someone acknowledged me. One time my husband had an accident and although they had cleaned him up, they left the dirty linens on the floor for hours. No one would pick them up. I finally threw them in the corner of the bathroom. Food was terrible. After 2 days there, his pneumonia worsened. They called me and he was sent to the hospital. I returned the next day to pick up his few things: shorts, toiletries and most importantly, his dentures. The room was cleaned out and to this day, no one has found his things. They have not reimbursed me for his dentures. My lawyer will be handling this from now on read more
