"I know a cat named Way-Out Willie Had a cool little chick named Rockin' Billie" (Eric Clapton) One of the few "good" things about or stay at the horrible and horribly overpriced Red Roof Inn was its proximity to Willie's Bagel Cafe. We had breakfast there on Saturday morning October 2. Willie's is small - real small. It has two booths and a handful of stools along the side window. But seriously, no one goes to Willie's for the ambience. Instead people go for their seriously kickass great bagels. They sell about 20 bagel varieties including a Jalapeno Everything Bagel, ten kinds of cream cheese, six breakfast bagel sandwiches, waffles, French Toast, pancakes, home fries, plus two dozen wraps and lunch sandwiches. They even have pizza bagels. Our breakfast of two coffees, an Everything bagel with lox cream cheese and a plain bagel with Cinnamon Raisin cream cheese ran under $13. I gotta tell ya, the bagels are truly great here. They are made right on site (you can see their bagel oven) and they compare favorably to the best I've had anywhere. A great combination of a crunch outside and a chewy inside. Willie's is a real cool little place with some fantastic food.

My wife and I stopped by after a failed attempt to find the bagel shop for whom the city is named after. Wow! Are we glad we didn't find the other place open!! We both split an Everything with plain cream cheese and we chose six more to bring back to Canandaigua with us. Pictured is a Rainbow that my daughter made up a few hours later. We all loved these bagels and wished there was a shop close by. We will stop here again on our travels to the Mohawk Valley.

SECOND LOCATION ON ORISKANY STREET. Bagels are very good. We love the bagels and the place is very clean inside. 1) When you buy an Onion Bagel(s) - among other types, they put the Onion Bagel in the same bag. This is BAD. The Onion flavor is extremely intense and ALL your bagels will taste like Onions. Ask for it in a separate bag. It really cross contaminates the other bagels. 2) Go early - they sell out fast, and do not make many bagels. 3) Since they never say thank you when you tip, save your tip money. I've bee there 3 times and tipped the counter crew 3 tips. Not one thank you. I will never tip them again. And if you are into this kind of thing they have gay/lesbian bagels too! Me? I like sesame bagels myself

Wow, wow, wow. Willie's Bagel Cafe is amazing. I discovered this place thanks to a friend who gave me a bagel from there, and it was the best thing ever. I had to go and see for myself, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the Nova lox sandwich with salmon and cream cheese and onions, which was so delicious and they don't skimp on the toppings ! I also tried the eggplant parm sandwich, which was cheesy, saucy, crispy, and melty. And the bagels, oh my god, the bagels. They were soft, chewy, and perfect. They were the best bagels I have ever had in my life. I bought a dozen to take home, and I couldn't stop eating them. They were so addictive. The best part was the service. The staff at Willie's were so friendly and helpful. They made me feel welcome and appreciated. They were quick and efficient, and they gave me a smile and a thank you. They really care about their customers and their bagels. This is going to be a regular stop for me when I am in the Utica area.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! Wow! We could tell the food was going to be amazing based on how busy it was on a Sunday morning. We were so impressed! Absolutely delicious bagels, toasted to perfection. Wish we lived in the area so we couod frequent often! Yum!

Any other time, if you are not a regular, this place might not be for you. I've been here several times with mixed experiences. The last time I was there was a Thursday in the summer of 2024. My husband, brother and I were excited to find seats at the bar and order dinner. The bartender was a short blonde woman and there was a male bar back. The bartender did not acknowledge us for over 15 minutes. We were actively looking at the menu on our phones and talking about what we wanted to try and attempted to make eye contact with her as she walked by us with no luck. She didn't even say "I will be right with you", literally no interaction. She was very friendly with everyone else around us seeming to know exactly what they were drinking and happy to get it for them. We left as we felt very unwelcome there and ended up having excellent service down the street at Lukin's.

We were told that it wasn't going to be a prix fixe menu as we were a party of under 12 when the reservation was booked (we asked). It was. Selection was somewhat limited particularly for the vegetarians but the waitress said that they could swap veggies in for the trout in the risotto. They didn't. It was just risotto. Potato leek soup. So salty that it was inedible. Like sea water salty. Three of us sent it back. NY Strip. Boring and clearly hadn't been seasoned before cooking (ironic). Not quite cold but really, really close. A little tiny ramekin of chimichurri sauce which I was supposed it make it interesting or tasty I guess. It was neither. The whipped potatoes were delicious. Desert was a borderline interminable wait. And then they served gelato and sorbet to four of us. Think milkshake. A thin, runny milkshake, approaching soup. The food runners and waitress were so embarrassed they couldn't look at us when they dropped the desert and ran. Who lets ice scream, posing as soup out of the kitchen. It used to be a quaint little place with fantastic food ... And now, an overpriced, industrial'ish place with sub-par food (although the owners are clearly cashing out, leaning on its prior reputation). Unfortunate. $85 a head, $1,500 all in with drinks and tip.

The café is located right next to Nancy Ford Photography. It can be a bit difficult to spot due to limited visibility, but parking itself is not an issue. There are shared slanted parking spots in front with neighboring businesses, as well as additional parking available behind the restaurant, which is convenient once you know it is there. The interior is hip, bright, and welcoming. Seating is somewhat limited, but despite that, we were always able to find a place to sit without having to wait. The space feels modern and casual, suitable for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. The food was good overall and service was fast. We ordered the Pancake Board, Spin Art, and a veggie omelette. The Spin Art was my favorite. It was soft, flavorful, and melted in the mouth. The Pancake Board was extremely well executed and fun to share, and the veggie omelette was solid. Coffee, however, was not their strongest item. One nice touch is that water is free and self-serve, which is always appreciated. It can get crowded inside on Saturdays, and since there is no outdoor seating, the moderate ambient noise from other customers makes it less ideal for long conversations or quiet chats. Doug, the owner, was friendly and genuinely eager to help when I had an issue using my $5 off "cupcake points." Although he was not able to resolve it immediately, he did eventually figure it out, so I will be using the coupon on my next visit. Overall, this is a solid local spot with good food, efficient service, and a welcoming vibe. Recommended, especially if you plan ahead for peak weekend hours.
