I wish I could give negative 100 stars !! Beware!! Do not send your loved one here. My mother was…read morein this facility for 5 days when she came down with pneumonia. I received a call saying that she had a URI meaning a common cold. And they were going to do a chest x-ray. I asked to be called with the results and I was not the following day I called them and was told by the nurse manager the x-ray was clear. 10 days later I get a call that my mother needs antibiotics was told she had an infection. Again a URI. On the 20th I received a call from dietary that my mother lost a lot of weight she went from 115 pounds to 88.2 pounds in a matter of days. About an hour later, I received a call from the nurse manager telling my mother was only holding 70% of oxygen and she said, do you want us to keep her here on comfort measures or send her to the hospital. I said send my mother to the hospital. When she got to the hospital, I received a call from the doctor and she said I needed to come to the hospital right away. I was a bit shocked and when I asked why she asked me if I knew how serious this was. I said, as a matter of fact, I do not and then she explained to me a little bit of what was going on and said we would talk when I got to the hospital My mother had had pneumonia for two weeks. My mother was unconscious. Her kidneys had been shut down and I was told that it was very serious. I rushed to the hospital upon arrival I noticed my mother was on vancomycin. She was very allergic to vancomycin and then I come to find out that they're treating her off of the wrong chart. My mother had never been to that hospital before and didn't have a chart . We were told that my mother had from minutes to maybe a couple of days. Two days later, my mother passed away. The ER doctor also pointed out to me that my mother had a number of bed sores on her. The one on her foot was the size of a quarter and black, her kidneys were not working. So obviously the nursing home left my mother just laying in the bed and she wasn't being fed in my opinion. My mother was only 76 years old. She suffered from Alzheimer's and dementia. She was being totally neglected at this facility and it's obvious by the bedsores. Please send your loved one elsewhere

My Dad had Stage 4 Lung Cancer had been through 2 Rounds of Chemotherapy, it shrank the Lung a little, but then he became resistant to the platinum in the chemotherapy... :( In January the Lung Cancer had spread to the Brain and they immediately did Radiation of both the Lung and the Brain. Also around January he Fractured his Rib and had Pneumonia. He had a Month off after Radiation and had 2 Doses of Immunotherapy about maybe 4-6 weeks ago. He had alot of the Symptoms that typically come with Immunotherapy. He had on and off Neuropathy, had 2 Falls, had some kind of Infection/Fever, had low blood pressure, has AFIB, was in the ICU on March 22nd for about 10 days ago...Some Medications they gave him in the ICU gave him Diabetes, due to possibly the steroids... Unfortunately the Lung was Stable, but the Brain Cancer had come back. He seemed to be doing almost better in the Hospital. He had been in Rehab at Sunny Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for about 2 weeks. He had a Private Room which was really nice The 2 weeks in Rehab He had been wicked Fatigued, Weak, Had Barely been Eating and Swallowing - I really wish they could have helped him eat, at Home and in the Hospital hed wake up late, order something. At the Hospital he said he loved the Pancakes. Hed eat a few bites, but in the Rehab he was on a soft food diet, had a little Ice Cream, would have water, was trying to eat. I did notice theyd serve a Full Plate and it just wouldn't appeal to him, wasnt what he liked at all or would necessarily eat. And they would come in and serve breakfast early in the morning. But he was the type that would sleep in late, he was never the type that would wake up at 7am to Eat Breakfast. My few Suggestions would be 1.) Try and Accomodate what People would want to Eat 2) And Accomodate at what time they like to Eat We were hoping hed get stronger, and that he could get help walking. But, they had to put him on a Medication to hopefully Increase Appetite, he definitely lost grip, and his voice was off, he had something called Thrush... He couldnt be in Treatment or get more Immunotherapy b/c he was wicked weak. We were going to try and get him Home on Monday April 11th. Then On April 7th he experienced Low Oxygen and he Needed Oxygen On April 8th They had him on Morphine and Oxygen and he died Friday Evening April 8th around 6:30pm/7pm with me and my Aunt Holding his Hand and my Mom Lovingly By His Side... My Mom thought the Staff was really nice to her.

My grandmother has been at Blaire House Assisted Living for about 5 years now. I think that the…read moremost important testimonial I can offer is to say that she has been happy, healthy, and well taken care of in that time. She (Cecile) transitioned into Blaire House as her memory and cognition began to decline and she could no longer live independently. It was difficult for her to leave the home she'd lived in for 50+ years, but Blaire House's Assisted Living facility made the transition simpler by providing a homey, comfortable, and intimate environment. As Cecile's dementia advanced, Blaire House made it easy for her to transition into Memory Care. Her bedroom and dining room are on another floor of the same building, and so she still joins all residents for daily walks, outings, and activities. Like I said Cecile has stayed happy and healthy and I give credit to Blaire House's attention to detail and family environment for that. She has been named 'Resident of the Month' multiple times, and that recognition has excited her each time. The Blaire House staff has also done Cecile's hair for her, and painted her nails, on a regular basis since she moved in. My wife and I make a point of complimenting her nails when we visit, and she always enjoys that attention. I can tell the staff cares because I can see it in how Cecile has looked and felt in her time there. Not to mention the cleanliness of her room and the common areas, or the way they cut her food for her or hold her hand to walk down the hallway. My family has been very fortune to have Blaire House available to us in what has of course been a challenging period.

As part of their "sales pitch", the facility had told me they were well equipped to to take care of Parkinson's patients. They were not. When I initially placed her in Lifecare, she was 90 lbs and not eating. Lifecare put her on hospice. Within 6 weeks, she started eating again and gained weight. I cannot thank the Staff at Lifecare enough. Their care and compassion was evident each time I visited. She was always neat and clean and out and about for activities. They always kept me informed about any issues. My Mother passed away recently and I truly appreciated their kindness and understanding. Everyone from the CNAs to the nurses and doctors were excellent. Thank you again!

The entire place takes your breath away immediately from urine and feces when you walk through the door , the floors all sticky, residents allowed to "shop" other residents trinkets and belongings and they never surfaced again. the nurses claimed my Dad ate but he didn't. he was malnIrish Ed . He fell several times and one time he had to go to the hospital for staples in his head , the nurses wouldn't reposition him resulting in really bad bed sores , he needed a lift when they would get him out of bed they would all fight when we visited about who was changing him who did it last , the biggest one was when two CNA used the wrong lift on my Dad , that resulted him into not only being horrified, he didn't like that lift at all , you needed to be weight bearing and he wasn't, they used it anyway as that was the closest lift for them , that resulted in our father having a broken pelvis, 2 shattered hips and his tailbone broke also . our dad was non verbal and couldn't tell anyone what happened. he was in a lot of pain , he was also DNR which made it hard for us to get him transferred, we eventually did get him transferred to Lowell General that night , the Billerica EMS came out , they tried getting vitals from the equipment lifecare had on hand , nothing had batteries that worked so they used their own equipment, the Billerica EMS took such care in transporting our father to the hospital. we got to the hospital and they ran all kinds of tests . that's when they discovered, he had a broken pelvis, 2 shattered hips and a broken tailbone. the er Dr walked in the room and he just looked at our family in shock he couldn't speak and then when he did he asked if our Dad was driving or in a bad accident? we said our dad can't walk and he certainly can't drive. the Dr told us this was elderly abuse, Lifecare had claimed our dad had a uti and we needed to report this. we did and after a long investigation the police department couldn't put criminal charges on the people that did this or lifecare because they couldn't prove that when this happened they intentionally meant to kill our Dad . our dad couldn't have surgery because of his age and all of things that were wrong he would of passed away during surgery. they made him as comfortable as they could but he was still in a lot of pain. he died a slow painful death that started on September 10, 2019 and passed away October 7, 2019 . I have had to wait all this time because we were going to go through with a civil trial. we can't do that because of the major money that is required for obtaining a lawyer, court fees, ect . so we let the case go . this haunts each of us daily of what they did to our father . I hope noone has to ever experience this k of abuse ever again. please be aware when placing a loved one in a nursing home . and certainly don't use this one .* They only got a 1 because I needed to do that to post this review.
