Several years ago my daughter ordered a "fairy garden" plant arrangement which was absolutely exquisite! This past April I tried to get the same for our anniversary,. However, this time we had a terrible experience. The arrangement was just OK. It was not nearly as creative and didn't exhibit the obvious care in choosing the plants when compared to the first. Fast forward to today, all the plants died except for a succulent. We went back to show the staff what had happened. We were told, well you overwatered. Didn't you notice we put it in a pot that didn't drain? What? Why would you make an arrangement and not put it in an appropriate container? The staff would not accept responsibility for their obvious error, offer any accommodation nor an apology. In our opinion this is NOT a way to treat customers nor stand behind what they sell. We will no longer recommend this establishment to others nor purchase anything in the future. read more

I am guilty of passing Willow Oak Flower & Herb Farm for years without ever checking it out for myself. As a fan of cooking, and lover of all things herbs & spices, I almost feel ashamed. As I've grown older, more mature, the things that matter to me most can be found at this farm. For starters, it's 40 acres of land to explore. There are so many different types of plants, herbs, foods, jams, candles and so much more. Most importantly? The service. We met an amazing lady named Deirdre who was just fantastic. On top of being super knowledgeable, and just down right pleasant, she was patient and willing to answer any and every question we had. She gave us suggestions, and advice on how to preserve the lives of all of the plants we purchased and we appreciated that more than she'll ever know. The coolest part, despite all of the beautiful plants is the land that they allow visitors to explore. There is a beautiful pond with ample seating that calms me just thinking about it. I am never purchasing my herbs, spices, or flowers from anywhere other than here. I LOVE this place and I'm sad it took me so long to visit. read more

Okay so my review is for the holiday lights walk. My family and I went last night! It was wonderful! The chit chat we got before was tad long winded but still super cute and I really think for young families this is a great way to spend the evening. They also give free hot chocolate! Not for nothing the hot Chocolate was some of the best I have ever had! The lights are hung with such care and the attention to detail with the attraction is worth every penny ! I am so glad we went. We used this place for our wedding flowers and they were absolutely gorgeous and reasonably priced. Everyone was very friendly. They were sometimes a little slow to respond by email, with an updated contract when things changed, etc. but honestly the quality of the product made all of that irrelevant. They delivered flowers to our hotel early and set up the arch on location perfectly on time. In addition to the arch with flowers, they made us wrist corsages, boutonnieres, and a bridal bouquet. They even attached the flowers to the arch in such a way that we could take them down and use them as centerpieces for dinner. They made our pictures and ceremony gorgeous and I strongly recommend them for other weddings! read more

Originally I spotted the location from the road And intentionally returned just to check it out. It's a lovely pull off from a main road, plenty of parking with a road side stand up front. Would you like a Frozen Ice? The garden is a rambling variety, set up like a hidden garden with paths and trails and arbors, fairy gardens hidden away. A literal Secret Garden. It seems that weddings and small events also take place here with a designated location in the back of the building. I came here to look for mums- very reasonably priced, with variety. Received 2 different flowers as a gift, one was an assortment and the other succulents in a cement planter. The flowers died within a few days even with me snooping the ends adding flower food etc. Then the succulents which are a hardy species started withering where they made contact to the soil. I cleaned it up by removing dead pieces and it just kept dying. I contacted the vendor and they said too much time had lapsed (about 30 days) and of it was within a week they could possibly do something. I explained I have several succulents and they are all thriving well for the don't require extensive maintenance and care. For the money spent on a perennial of this species they should have replaced this item. Unfortunate read more

Last Saturday was their second annual Lavendar Festival! You get some LAVENDER! You get some LAVENDER! You get some LAVENDER! LAAAAAVEEEEENDEEEERRRRRR! Well not quite but there was plenty to go around. Lavender tea, scones, limeaid, chicken salad, cookies, wreaths, tussie mussies - yes TUSSIE MUSSIES - however you'd like to pronounce it lol. We came up with some sensible variations. Perfectly placed in the middle of Severn, along busy Telegraph Road, you'd never realize you could be transformed into a magical world with gnomes, fairies, a copious array of flowers while listening to the Swamp Donkeys sing Blue Grass tunes about leaving their hearts in Virginia while heading to NC on a train. Beau & I had a relaxing surrender allowing ourselves to be victim as the lavender insufflated our bodies during the perfect Saturday bestowed upon us, after a light drizzle, last weekend. We sat within the old fashioned cottage-style garden along the pond with whispers of the frogs, turtles, dragonflies, and the best of all - a beautiful ruby-throated hummingbird who blessed us with it's presence TWICE. The day was more than I expected and we couldn't help but accept honorary titles of king & queen of the The Willow Oaks 2nd Annual Lavender Festival. Such perfect weather and an accommodating staff made for the perfect Saturday! Having to explain what a Lavender festival was to those that looked at me with wonder when I answered with what my weekend entailed, I didn't do it justice. Favorite from now on!!Once you park and walk the path to the flower/tea section of the property you'll see how much effort that is put forth in bringing great products, then you step inside and the smell of the flowers and scents of the teas have your senses, amazing! The young lady who took and processed my order was enthusiastic and helpful with great customer service, the man who delivered them was prompt and called when he was on the way in the time frame that I had asked for them to be delivered, and called once he arrived at the house! We were her for the North Pole lights walk. This is a good festive event to do with the family or loved one. It's geared towards the kiddies but l have to admit l have a tendency to bring that inner kid out sometimes. This event is only $7.00 For adults and $5.00 for the children. They do offer free parking but it's limited so best to arrive around 5-6pm to avoid waiting for a parking spot. Upon arrival you purchase your tickets at the North pole booth and give your surname and how many in your group. You then meet a beautiful fairy princess that can make it snow. Then off to your journey. I recommend you wear comfortable shoes because you will be going through some branches and all. The journey is great and the scenery is beautiful! Afterwards you are rewarded with hot chocolate and a cookie. Great pictures and l highly recommend. Hey we didn't even have any kids with us but we still enjoyed it. You should finish it all in thirty minutes or so. You can go at your own pace. read more

If I called this place magical, I don't think that that would quite do it justice. I am not one of those obnoxious people who yell about how the sky is falling because young people look at their iPhones instead of striking up conversation with complete strangers on the train, but I also do happen to be a staunch believer in the healing power of being among nature, as steadfast as I can be in this belief without sounding new-agey and woo-tastic (I promise I'm not). Being a cloudy weekday at the end of the summer, it was no surprise that I saw maybe one other visitor while I was here. I just ambled around for a good hour or so, taking it all in (including on my camera), and saying hello to the numerous sociable animals that hang around the place. One of the ladies who works there (I'm sad to say that I don't know her name, as she was awesome) made a little bit of chitchat with me from time to time as we crossed paths, but she was never in-your-face about it, nor did she ever give any intimation that maybe the whiny-looking girl with the camera should either buy something or head home. I felt very much welcomed, un-rushed, and at-ease, which I've found to be a rarity among businesses in this area. It's hard to describe the beauty of this place. I'm certain that had I visited a couple months earlier in the season when more plants were blossoming, it would have been nothing short of heavenly... and I say this as someone who could take or leave the spiritual stuff. But even this late in the season, there was such a mind-blowing variety of colors and textures, all arranged with serenity and true craftsmanship clearly in the vision of its hard-working staff. I sincerely have no idea how someone could visit this farm and NOT leave feeling at least somewhat more uplifted and peaceful. I actually initially came here because I've heard wonderful things about its price and quality for wedding flowers, namely through the work of Joy Michelle's photography. I'm excited to say that I booked a consultation to discuss my wedding flowers... even if it's a year in advance from when I will actually be using their services. But I'm already so impressed with the place that I cannot wait to see what they'll come up with for my wedding. If you haven't been able to glean so far from this review, the flower portion is a huge emotional investment in me for my Big Day, and I'm happy to say that I feel more than confident in leaving such an undertaking to these awesome professionals. read more

A hidden treasure in Odenton. Almost like a natural amusement park, Willow Oak is a cross between a traditional nursery and a "New Age" hippie commune. The grounds are delightful. Rustic and beautiful with a number of different gardens to peruse, from a traditional English style cutting garden to heirloom style herbs et al. A great place to bring kids, there's a lovely pond on the property and you can visit the goat barn with 4 goats for viewing. Also, say "hello" to the friendly dog that canvasses the farm. There are some "magical" elements worked into the mix and several "faerie" stops can be found throughout the grounds. It's all a little overgrown and rough around the edges, which simply adds to the charm of the place. A picturesque old barn with attached green-house holds, teas, dried herbs, cut floral arrangments and more. Take a trip upstairs to the Faerie village. You'll find a host of great herbs or unique florals for your own garden to purchase, and they also host a number of different events on the property. The staff are simply delightful. This place is AMAZING! We went here for the fall festival they held. It was fun, they have animals for the kids to see and had activities like pumpkin painting and hay rides. The little gift shop they have is great, they have all kinds of loose teas, herbs and spices, seasonings, SallyeAnder soaps, and tons of cute crafts and things for the home. They had some of their spiced cider available to try and it was THE BEST cider I've ever had, hands-down. I can't wait to come back here for the other activities they have going on! I ordered a bouquet and herb boutonnière from Willow Oak Farm for my small wedding ceremony this September. The flowers were gorgeous, way more than I even hoped for. They completely understood the look I was going for and crafted me my dream bouquet. The boutonnière was also exceptional- the details in it were fantastic and I honestly loved his boutonnière as much as my bouquet. The farm itself was also the cutest little place. Yay! This is a gorgeous, ethereal place. A friend had her bridal shower here and we all loved it. The food was pretty good (the spinach & gruyere quiche was my favorite) and the teas that they had on offer were so good. There was an 'around the world' tea that was really mild but also had a subtle floral flavor that we all fell in love with. It's an awesome place for taking photos, especially if everyone is dressed up for tea. There are animals to say hello to and a little gift shop as well. read more

Don't miss the Christmas lights display here. We're not talking a big drive-through spectacle like others in the area -- it's a nice homey walk through dark winter woods, with storybook plaques, stuffed animal displays, musical peppermints, and about seven miles of extension cords. It starts off with the Winter Elf and her Magic Snow (note to kids: never take magic snow from an elf unless your parents say it's OK). This transports you magically to the North Pole where you have two paths to walk. The long path takes you to the aforementioned woods; it's about a seven to ten minute walk in the dark; some may appreciate a flashlight but it's by no means too dark to see. Upon return, the garden path takes you back to Santa's cabin. He's gracious and friendly in his little home in the woods. The little ones will enjoy meeting him -- he's ready to hear what you want on the big morning! Finally it's back to the herb shop for cookies and hot chocolate. $7 for adults; less (I think $4) for kids. Completely worth it if you want a more personal Christmas experience. read more

Willow Oak did the flowers for the tables and bouquets for my wedding in August of this year. They did a BEAUTIFUL job and were wonderful to work with. I absolutely couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out. The bouquets contained some herbs along with the flowers and as a result smelled wonderful! They were helpful, great to work with and flexible (I had to change my wedding date). On top of that, they were MUCH more affordable then every other place I looked. (I think this is because they grow a lot of their own flowers, because everything they did was high quality) I couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

This farm is run by a wonderful family. Maria is the sweetest. They are all very knowledgeable and successful. This is an excellent place for classes.
