We have brought our Shiba here twice now (boarding for a week). Staff is great. Some are more knowledgeable about animals than others. But care and kindness is something that we have always seen (that is what matters most). They are also very professional. If there is a concern or request, they will assist you in a timely manner, and everything is noted. We had a few requests since our breed does not take well to other breeds, they were more than accommodating in giving him his own time away from the others, and allowing us to bring his own food (due to allergy) and bowls. One fixed issue we had the first time: our dog came back with kennel cough, we called them solely so they could inform the other pet owners...they surprised us with an email apologizing and asking for a copy of the vet bill(they paid for the whole thing!) Kennel cough is a normal thing (as per our vet), so don't get overly upset if this happens... we get colds on airplanes, yet we still fly! I do suggest bringing their own bowls (food and water) and making sure everything you bring is marked with their name. read more

Stay away if you can! I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new groomer for my dog so I decided to give this place a shot since it's very close to where I live. I have a Shiba Inu so all it really is is just a bath and nail trimming- very basic. Two weeks later my dog ended up with a really bad infection which cost me $200 for the visit and medications. The vet told me it's because the groomer got water in his ears and didn't clean and dry it properly My dog had never been sick and never had an ear infection and now my poor baby is sick. They're not professionally trained groomers so I recommend going somewhere else. read more

I have been using these people as groomers for my Miniature Schnauzer and then stopped because of the distance I had to drive one of my customers subsequently recommended them again and I have brought her there twice this last time however they cut her badly on her ear and when I went to pick her up they took a very long time putting her leash on the next day she was paralyzed I brought her to the emergency room and they wanted $11,000 to do a CAT scan and perform surgery on her injured disc . I was finally able to see my regular vet who continued her steroid anti-inflammatories and painkillers and I'm happy to say she's okay but she was clearly injured by these morons be aware do not use them read more

I don't send my dog to boarding for solitary confinement. I board my dog as needed but feel better doing so because he has the company and gets the opportunity to play with other dogs. At least that is the case at the other places I board him, but obviously not The Willow. My dog has zero history of aggression towards people or other dogs yet he was forced to spend 3 days alone even though I opted for "all the play time possible." Not sure if it's laziness or incompetence but I'll never choose this place again to care for my dog. read more

Willow did call my cell and left a message 8/13 to alert me that they had a case of kennel cough if I wanted to cancel. Unfortunately I did not see the voicemail until after I picked them up. That's on me. I wish they had spoken to me directly. I would not have brought them for boarding as I know how contagious kennel cough is. The Bortadella vaccine does NOT cover all types so it's risky any time you board your pet. Needless to say, I will NOT be boarding my dogs at Willow pet hotel in the future. Willow, I advise you to not just leave a message but speak directly to your customer when conveying such crucial information. Should be REQUIRED. We have been sending our dog here twice a week for daycare for many years. She just loved the place and the people. When we get about a mile away she starts barking, because she is excited and can't wait to get there. We have also boarded her there several times and the first time we went to pick her up, she was happy to see us and then turned around and ran back upstairs to play. Mark and his staff are very friendly and most importantly they treat your pet like it was their own. They also do grooming. Since our dog is a short hair Basset hound mix, we only have her groomed after a lengthy stay. As I right this she is there for a six day visit, and I have no worries on how well she is being treated. read more

I have been boarding my dogs at this place for years. They also groom my dogs. I have never had any problems when the dogs returned home. They ask for written records of the dog's vaccinations. This makes me feel good, because I know my dogs are not around sick or poorly taken care of dogs. While I was picking up my dogs, A State Park Office came in to pick up his dog. I think this dog was part of the K9 dog corps, so I figure if the police board their dogs here, it must be good. They also groom the dogs. My dogs are not show dogs, so I don't want them groomed like show dogs. After it rains, one of the dogs likes to go out and rub her face in the wet ground. So I need her fact cut short, which they do when I ask. I also get to speak with the groomer, so they know what I want. As I said, I have been here many times over the years, and the staff knows me and remembers my dog's names. This means that the staff work there for a long time, which is important. I want people taking care of my dogs who love animals, not people who just need a job. Anyway, this is a great place to board your dog, and to have your dog groomed. read more

I have had dogs my entire life and my last full time position was working in a doggie day care/kennel/grooming salon so I am really particular about where I leave my own dogs for day care or kennel. Willow Pet Hotel is an amazing place and right from my very first call through picking up my dogs from the kennel it has been a great experience. The first step for me was to call to see if I could stop in for a tour. They do allow you to come in for a tour within certain hours but with no appointment which is what I wanted to hear. I stopped in and met the owner Mark who was answering a phone call at the front desk when I went in. He personally gave me a complete tour of all areas of the kennel and day care, along with all the information I needed and answered every question and concern I had. The complex is very clean, staff is very professional and friendly and they even have an area for boarding your cat or other small pets which I was also able to tour. I was also happy that they require a list of shots, clean fecal test, flea treatment prior to going into the kennel, etc. It is a great way of knowing your dog won't bring any unwanted illness or fleas home with them! Each dog has it's own larger private area with sleeping quarters (you cannot bring your pet's bedding for sanitary reasons - it is provided). The outside area for playing & day care is very clean, quite large and well staffed. They day I was there they were filling kids plastic swimming pools for the dogs to play and stay cool. There are many play structures which I didn't think my dogs would use, but the staff was posting daily photos of their day care on the Facebook page and I was surprised to see my dogs on the structures. I was impressed that they had daily postings and allowed me to call to check on them anytime while we were out of town. I selected one of the three kennel packages (their Luxury Package which is the middle package. It included 2 outings per day, 1 off leash play time, 1 courtyard stroll, toys in their room, bedtime biscuit and I selected to bring their own food which I pre-bagged in meal size baggies with their names on each bag).They also offer A la Cart extras such as a filled kong, etc. They also offer grooming (we selected bath and grooming the day we were bringing them home). I was very happy to have them so well cared for while we were out of town. When I picked them up they were bathed, well groomed, nails clipped, tails wagging, happy, healthy and excited to see me. All around it was an excellent place to leave them and we will be back when kennel is needed, but also will be back for day care. read more

This place is a rip off!!! Dropped the dog off on Saturday about 1:00pm, picked up promptly at noon on Sunday. They charged two days. When I asked why, they pointed to this little sign on the counter. No one mentioned it in our THREE phone conversations nor is it listed on their web site. As the day went on one of them was hiding Under the bed, no matter how we tried he wouldn't come out. They kept him there the whole day and kept delaying our pick up time. When I went to pick him up, he was clearly traumatized and hunching down in pain. When I took him in my suv, he immediately started whimpering and jumped into the third row and defacated in the back row. To be clear, this is a dog who has never ever had a single accident in the house in all the years since he was a tiny puppy. It was obvious he had been caged the entire time and not been given a chance to be let out. When we got home, it became clear what we were dealing with. Not only was our dog traumatized and shaking like a leaf, he was dehydrated and worse, severely cut near his anus. We rushed him to the vet and had him treated. I've used this kennel quite a few times, more because it's conveniently closer to my house. By "quite a few times" I mean about five times. Within the last ten years, the entire place was redone. It looks nice from the outside but this doesn't make it better kennel. On my last visit, using them, the staff was very cold. I asked to see where they were taking my dog and the lady at the front desk told me they couldn't take me in the back. After requesting to see the manager over this nonsense, a man took me to a hallway with a window over looking the kennels. He told me they couldn't show me exactly where the dog was staying, so I couldn't really observe the kennels. From what I did see, all the dogs were barking and seemed very unhappy. They also didn't feed my dog the prescription food I left with the staff and paid extra for them to use. Yep, that's right. You pay EXTRA when you give them your own dog food to give your dog. When I asked them about the food, they told me sometimes the dogs don't eat the food we leave them, so to avoid the animal from getting sick, they feed them something else. They never told me what "something else" was, but I suppose that means they don't care what food you leave behind for them to use. There's a REASON the dog NEEDS to eat prescription (Science Diet d/d) food over just anything. Ridiculous. It really shouldn't be that difficult to keep an animal in a cage and feed it. I'm pretty sure that's all this place does. My dog was not happy there and stunk of stress and homesickness, upon picking her up. Dogs always get stressed out and smell after leaving them in a kennel for a few days, but my dog looked physically ill. Maybe it was because they weren't feeding her the right food. When picking up my dog, she desperately wanted to leave pulling me away from the desk. They asked me if I wanted to enroll my dog in one of their classes, and I laughed at them. Really? They're all about making money. Don't think your animal will be taken care of at this "hotel" it's more of a prison. I caution you to look for a place that cares about the relationship of the owner and the animal. -- Note: My dog is allergic to meat products, so she breaks out in hives, rashes and throws up when she eats food with chicken or beef in it. If there was an option of giving 0 stars- that's what I would do. My dog was there for 5 days. He gained 2 pounds and is overweight now. I specifically told them not to overfed him. They threw out his toys, when I specifically told them to take care of them and return them. Furthermore, I told them to groom him and give my Pomeranian a "lions cut" with directions not to cut his tail. They also fucked up here as well. He looks like a mut now. And when I told them all my complaints they went on with saying they didn't do anything wrong. Failing to at least apologize is the worst when it comes to service. The customer is not always right, but in this case I am. I am never going back here and have also contacted my bank to dispute the charge. I brought my standard poodle in to be groomed and spoke directly to the groomer about what I wanted done. I wanted her shaved all the way down, except for a pompom on her tail. When I picked up my dog she was only partially shaved and her tail was bare. The fur on her feet was as long as it was when I brought her in. Two weeks later and she looks like she did when I brought her in. They also didn't pluck her ears, although that is standard procedure with a standard poodle. She was there for four and 1/2 hours. It was a waste of time and money. Although the groomer said I could bring her back free of charge, I don't trust him to take care of her. I will never go there again. read more

My husband and myself went to visit Willow Pet 3weeks prior to us leaving our dog there. We got a very nice tour of the place and was also showed the "police k9 German Shepard" they have boarded there. Reading past reviews makes me think that poor dog is there just for show. Anyway I specifically asked SEVERAL times if I bring my dog there would they be able to administer the medication and was assured that they "took great care of all of the dogs and want to make sure they stay healthy". I dropped my dog off Saturday morning with 1new can of food as well as her dry food separated in snack bags. I also left them SIMPLE and SPECIFIC TYPED UP instructions as to how to feed her and how many pills she should get with every feeding (she's supposed to get 4 pills a day) I even told the receptionist not only the day I made the reservation but on the day I dropped my dog off that she HAS TO HAVE these pills. She has a very sensitive stomach and we almost lost her due to pancreatitis. The receptionist just said "okay and yes of course" while typing up the instructions. I then picked up my dog after leaving her there for two days (thank god it was only two days) only to wait for my dog for a couple of mins because she had an "accident" and was wet. While waiting for my dog the receptionist then told me she would get the bag I had left with my dogs meds and food. She handed me the empty bag that had only contained my dogs pill bottle in it. Long story short they ended up giving my dog all of the dry food which was alright but also all of the canned food which is way too much food for my 12lb dog. My dog finally arrived only to be still wet and reeked of pure dog urine. When I finally arrived home I noticed the pill bottle to be rather full. I actually took them out and counted them only to find out I had 26 pills left, I gave them 28 pills which means my dog did not get the full daily dosage she should have gotten. I was fine with the food but the pills really brought me over board. When we spoke to the owner he basically said that he would talk to the receptionist because it fell on her and the staff follows her instructions. That is when we found out that she did not take down the correct instructions. He also made a comment that there would not be much harm if our dog were to miss a dose or two......& that next time he would not charge for giving the meds. The main reason for this review is to just say that it takes only two seconds to correctly type up specific simple instructions given to you and another minute to read them. When looking at the situation as a whole it just really got under our skin. It's not like we left our dog there for free, we even got the deluxe package and just expected our dog to have been taken care of better. After the instruction mistake who's to know if we even got what we paid for. I can honestly say I would never bring my dog back to this place. If they could not follow simple instructions for my dog for just two days imagine if I would have left her there for a week. It's pretty scary.. read more

I left my dog here once a year ago. I found their website and they seemed to have great reviews, so I went on a Saturday to tour the place and visit the facilities. The staff was very nice and seemed to care about animals, so I felt this was a good place to leave my puppy. However, when I dropped off my dog, the same people were really cold. It was as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide had trades places! I left my dog for two nights and had my friend pick her up in the late afternoon as I had to work late that day. Pick up time is before 12pm, so to keep her a little longer, I agreed to have her groomed. Basic wash they said. And that she'd be ready by 2:30. My friend picked her up at 4:15, almost TWO hours after her scheduled pickup time, and oh surprise! My poor dog was SOAKING wet and not brushed, shedding hair all over the place and terrorized. No explanation whatsoever from the people at the pet hotel. When I called to complain, they told me in a very nasty way I was supposed to pick her up at 5, so she wasn't ready yet. No, I will NOT vote for Willow Pet hotel for "Best in Long Island". You do not deserve it!!! read more

This Place looks great from the outside, but i dont believe they treat our pets good at all. I left my dog here 6 days while i was away, and when i came to go get him all they asked for was the name of my dog. Gave me the price. I payed. Thats it. No i.d, no personal information. NOTHING at all. What a great system they have. Whatever, anyways after i payed she announced my dogs name and to get him because he was ready to leave. When he came Out He was TERRIFIED. If only i could upload the video i took of him when he was comming out. It wasnt until he saw us that he got a little excited and greeted us all. But He was sooo itchy and in between his right front leg he has some type of rash or something and on his right side of his top lip as well. He wont play, wont eat any of his favorite food. When we got home and he saw my cat he made no movement (they ALWAYS play with each other) he drank SO much water. As if he didnt drink any in so long. He looks sad, he wont be his normal self. He just lays down... I tested something and this is what Made me write this review. I grabbed my broom stick, and only said his name. When he saw me holding that stick he SLOWLY backed away and Looked FRIGHTENED. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG/CAT or pet here!! This is a TERRIBLE place!! All they care about is their money, not our pets. Horrible experience, Rip off artists...Boarded 3 dogs for 3 days. $40. per dog per day plus $2 per dog per day for them to feed them MY supplied food....Picked up the dogs on Sunday at 1pm. Handed me back my full bags of food that I supplied. They never fed my dogs my food, but they didn't forget to charge me for it... The bed I Brought to have in their run they couldn't find for a while, which means it probably was not in the run with them, and to add salt to the wound, they charge for a full day on Sunday no matter what time you pick up your dogs Total Cost was $540.00........got charged for 4 full days.....their pricing is outrageous............when i contacted the owner, he agreed to refund the $24.00 for not feeding the food......Stay away from the Willow pet facility...........they stink read more
