The stylist told me she'd have to charge me an extra $50 in order to upgrade me to full highlights. I was able to upgrade my Groupon from partial to full highlights during my visit and showed her my Groupon upon checking out. She proceeded to still charge me an extra $40 (instead of the $50) even after I purchased the full highlight Groupon. Furthermore, I got home and looked through the job she had done and it was absolutely horrible! The highlights were all over the place and not blended AT ALL and the highlighted strands were all different colors. I called a couple of hours later and asked if I could get the money I paid returned and she refused. Finally, she said she would return the money but then proceeded to call back right away and said she would only return half. I paid $175 with the Groupon cost, the extra $40, plus tip and was only refunded $57. I basically paid the same amount as I would have WITHOUT the Groupon. My hair looks terrible and I will have to spend double what I paid in order to get it fixed. I have never been so unhappy with a salon experience.

Customer service was excellent as soon as I walked in to the salon and throughout the treatments. I love threading, but find that there's not many places in Calgary to get this done. I also got the 'exotic' bikini wax and this is where I seriously cringed, I've been to many places over the years for Brazilian/bikini waxes, ranging in quality and styles. I have to say this place was a first, mostly because she used a butter knife to spread the wax.... This is a metal knife, in hot wax, then applied to my tender skin, so needless to say it didn't feel wonderful, and it totally grossed me out. Not sure if this is regular practice or not, but definitely not willing to find out. Either way, I will be back for the threading.

I wanted my eyebrows done as well and last minute decided to do my lips. I am SO HAPPY with my work, as well as my mom, she is over the moon about her new brows. The shape was perfect, the colour was custom mixed and checked and approved by myself before they selected that shade to use (both brows and lips). The spa was clean and SO CUTE, in a renovated super cute old house. Parking was easy and they are SO friendly and kind. The kindest people I have met. Relaxing atmosphere. I wish that I would have read reviews such as the one I'm leaving prior to investing $4000 in this course. To sum it up, not only is the course not worth the money, you also do not leave with all of the information or experience required to feel confident to begin a career in this field. First off, you're told that your $4000 investment for a 1 week course will also include all the equipment you need to get started. However what we weren't told is that we would have to spend another $1000 to purchase additional product that you absolutely need to start seeing clients. The first day of instruction went well. However there was very little instruction provided on the days to follow. We often had to work on live models with as little as 1 hour of class instruction and a little homework we did outside of the location the night before with no one to properly guide us. This is pretty well how things went for every new service we "learnt". Class was set to start at 10am every morning, and we would show up and be left to chat amongst ourselves until almost lunchtime...which was followed with working on a live model. (Keep in mind you've only had about 1 hour of class time to learn the service you were about to perform and a little practice you did on your own on a few skin sheets the night before). Considering the fact that we are rendering semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing services that's not sufficient, and I'm sure many models would have turned away if they knew. I could have learnt what was taught in this course by buying a $40 book on Amazon and watching a few YouTube videos. To top it all off, the instructors were quite rude to us while we worked on models. They expected you to know exactly every step of the process on the first try without providing us with the information to allow us to do so. I am so disappointed to have wasted $4000 on this, it still bothers me 3 months later. I simply can't recommend this course to anyone.

I liked what I saw from their online presence so I made a trip in. First Impression: Upon entering you see a clean modern well decorated space. There was consistent branding throughout which I like. If they take pride in their space I know they will take pride in me. There were techs working on clients but made quick eye contact to let me know I was acknowledged. I was able to look through their swag and products and take in the great atmosphere until a specialist was available. The first thing I noticed when speaking with the staff is they all had impeccable lashes and were very professionally dressed. How can you trust somewhere to do your services if they don't represent them on their own canvas (a tattoo artist with no art, or a hair stylist with bad hair...) Not the case at Lola. They walk the walk and it looked great. I booked two services on the spot as I knew my search for a great new location was over. I described what I wanted and the tech was quick to take care of my requests. First Appointment: I booked in to have microstroking, which is permanent makeup eyebrows with the newest technique. The specialist was a veteran in her field and put me at ease right away with her skill and ability. We had a fantastic appointment where was zero hesitation from Tina (my amazing eyebrow specialist) in her application and the end result was exactly what I was looking for. I have had this procedure over the years at other places and never left feeling as good as I did when I was in Tina's hands. I look forward to my follow up visit in 4 weeks and then getting touch ups annually with Lola and Tina. I can finally throw away my powder and brushes and the extra time every morning I dedicated to penciling in my eyebrows because Lola Lash Bar and Tina have achieved my desired look!! Second Appointment: I booked to have a full set of volume lashes done. Again I have been wearing lashes for three years now and would not hesitate to say I know exactly what I want in a set of lashes. I explained to my FANTASTIC specialist Jody that I want to see these lashes from a distance. I'm looking for that "Kardashian" lash that is quite obviously not natural. They have a huge selection of different types to suite every request from discreet and natural to WOW volume. She listened to my wants, which is so important and executed hands down the best set of lashes I have had. Period. Jody has a natural laugh that makes the client feel calm. Again like I had experienced in my first appointment there was zero hesitation. There is a confidence in her work that shows up in the finished product. I sat up when it was done and she handed me a mirror to reveal dramatic gorgeous work. It was exactly what I pictured, exactly what I described and it was executed in a professional and skilled manner. I was escorted up to the front reception desk by Jody where my appointment was finalized, another professional touch. I did not get the name of the attractive and quite knowledgeable gentleman who re-booked me and took my payment, but he was a great way to end the appointment. A couple things that are different about Lola and their team than in other high end spas and salons: I never felt like I was taking up their time. They made it clear they were there to attend to my needs. There was no "back bar chat" about each other, other clients or other appointments, being tired etc. I have attended some other high end salons and spas where the thing that puts me off returning is a negative or unprofessional staff. I will spend good money to be treated like I am the only client and Lola Lash Bar has that on lock down. I could probably write another 7 pages but I will finish up saying that it my expressed and experienced in the salons and spas of Calgary opinion that the only place you should go for lashes or permanent makeup is Lola Lash Bar. Book with Tina for makeup, book with Jody for lashes, finish up with an attractive gentleman and you have yourself a perfect high end gorgeous results experience.
