The absolutely most helpful hardware store. They absolutely never fail to greet anyone, they ALWAYS ask you if you need help finding something. You might get more attention here than you do at home... depot. Or Lowes. This is may be a smaller store but their customers service is unrivaled. I bought a fire pit here last weekend and it was cheaper and of a better quality than a smaller one for sale at Lowe's. Set up was easy, and the first bonfire was (awesome/) great. Summer is about to rock :) Also. Check out their naughty list near the entrance. See if you dodged a bullet by not going on a second date with any of these people who engage in shoplifting. They've stolen from Ace, don't let them steal your heart. lol. read more

I needed a battery & stopped in at Ace Hardware. A employee promptly greeted and asked if I needed any assistance. There was an unusual battery that I had never purchased before. Giant Eagle had a package of 4, which was too many for my needs. They had what I needed in a package of 2, so I bought them and will return whenever I need assistance. Another reason to shop at a specialized store with knowledgeable employees that are ready to help. read more

July 6th, 2023 Ace Hardware Store in Shoregate Shopping Center, Willowick, Ohio. I have been an ACE Hardware shopper for many years, but not any more. I had a Problem with being sold a $99.00 fire pit which turned out to be a Returned and Damaged, Previously sold and returned. It was Broken, Missing Parts (the 4 legs), fasteners and the Instructions. I followed the Return Instructions on the Ace Hardware Website but the Manager of the Willowick Store "Refunded my $99.00" and then Charged me for the replacement one at $150.00! I contacted ACE Hardware Corporate and they explained to me that the Store is Independently Owned, so they do "Not have to follow the ACE Hardware Return/Replace rules!" This Morning the Store Manager Called my Cell phone and told me I could "come into the store for a $50.00 Refund". I returned several hours after his call to me for my refund. When the Manager came up to the Front Desk, he said he would refund me $40.00. When I reminded him that the amount he told me on the phone was $50.00, he called me an "Asshole" in front of some Customers and at least one Female Employee!! When I asked him what he just called me, he said "Asshole. If your are going to act like an Asshole, then you are a Asshole!" Both Store Owners are "Out of Town" so they "Cannot be contacted!" I would give this Store a "Negative Review" but the website won't let me. I don't think that I will ever shop there again. read more

I would give it a negative if I could. I bought a Battery Daddy on November 19. it was a Christmas present. it turned out to be a duplicate. I brought it in to return on December 27. I planned to do some shopping there so a store credit would have been fine. I was told that the return policy was 30 days. I explained that it was purchased as a Christmas gift but they make no exceptions. I asked if they would do a store credit but the answer was "no". I always enjoyed shopping in this store but never again. I would have spent the full amount of the refund and much more. they lost a customer. read more

Drove an hour round trip in order to pick up an online order of product only available at this store. Immediately got attitude from "manager" Scott when he told me they didn't have the order. After a lot of wasted time just trying to find the order, Scott informed me, in his nasty little tone, that it wasn't ready because they had never pulled the merchandise and it was now sold out. But, "manager" Scott is completely blameless because "he's not in charge of inventory." All of this could maybe be overlooked if the manager or the alleged owner could take responsibility for the mistake and at least apologize for wasting my time and gas money. Anyone would think from the attitude of Scott and someone who claimed to be the owner Angie, that the entire episode was my fault. Of course, I will NEVER patronize this horrible store again. read more

I want this ace hardware in will awake. The cashier could not Read the barcode. She then wanted me to go get a new one. In which I would have walked by 4 oftheiremployeessitneartalking. She would not call to have 1ofthemhope. And when I told her I didn't want it anymore. I was gonna leave she copped an attitude with me and said it was my job to get the barcode. I've never been to a place to ask the customer to go get a price check. Wouldn't that go back to this ace unless I needed a job that I could just sit around do nothing. read more

ACE may be "the place for the helpful hardware man", but in this case, where the manager is was woman, they dropped the ball. As a regular customer, and a member of their email club, I received by mail, a $10 coupon for my birthday. I used it to purchase several items, one of which was a 2-pack of light bulbs for a desk lamp which had recently gone out, since it was such an odd sized bulb, and the clerk assisting me had such a difficult time matching it, I asked if I could return it, if it appeared not to fit the lamp (as long as I had not opened the package), he said that I could. Well, while placing the bulb close to the lamp (while still in the pack) I could tell it wouldn't fit, a couple days later I attempted to return the bulbs (which my receipt showed sold for $3.99), I was informed by a clerk that they could only give me .48 (forty-eight cents for it because that's all that I had "actually" paid), I then offered to do an even exchange for another item that sold for the same price, $3.99, she said she wold talk to the manager because they had never don that before. After waiting about 10 minutes she returns and tells me the same thing, they can't return/exchange it for anymore than .48 (forty-eight cents), that in fact, they would be losing money! Now having managed a retail store in the past, I'm trying to determine just how that works: someone purchases merchandise priced at $3.99 with a coupon, I take it out of inventory, I get credit from the company for the coupon, subsequently, they return it, I credit them back, record the "loss", but return it to inventory for resale at full price, break even. I can only assume, that to suffer a loss, their intent (had they accepted the return), would be to Not return the merchandise to inventory for resale, but rather to simply throw it in the trash and thereby suffer the loss. Would not have been my plan, also not my plan to ever shop there in the future. read more
