I used a Groupon for a couples massage. When I booked the appointment, they didn't have a Saturday available for almost 3 months. Also I was told I would have a male and a female massage therapist but when we arrived, it was 2 female therapists, which was ok, but not what was said and no explanation was given. When I called a month after booking the appointment, I could not reach them by phone or through their Facebook account. Their phone was disconnected and after informing Groupon twice, was finally reached by the studio. They had moved was the reason they couldn't be reached. When we arrived, we were given two glasses of champagne in plastic flutes in the office while filling out our forms. There was no separate area for this, and had to keep our champagne on the desk, since there wasn't anywhere else to put them. That's just a minor thing, we're there for the massage, which I'm about to get to. We were escorted down the hall (it's in an office building) to a small room with blinds that weren't closed all the way. The slats were askew and the room wasn't very dark nor did it have a great ambiance. The ladies came in together and asked us questions at the same time and we were all talking over each other. My boyfriend got a therapist that must not be certified or trained. He answered her question of where he would like any concentration which was his arms and she didn't even touch them. She only massaged his shoulders back and chest. She also had him hold hot stones. I don't know what the purpose of that was. The massage therapist I had did a good job. Her name is Gabrielle. Since I received such a great massage, it wasn't a complete bust but I will not return. We were given a small jar of salt scrub when we left and it smells terrible. THE WORST MASSAGE EXPERIENCE EVER! Sorry Steve, but you need some help with your professionalism. I bought my massage off Groupon for myself and my friend. We wanted to go together but he was booked up for over a month. She went first a few weeks earlier and was hesitant to share how awkward and creepy it was for her. She also said he talks A LOT! When I arrived, I tried to make it clear that I needed peace and quiet by telling him I am a therapist (hint hint Steve, I listen to people talk about themselves for a living). Obviously no one goes to a massage to listen to their masseuse talk about himself for THE WHOLE TIME. He asked me if I liked heat, I said yes and then later asked how I was doing during the massage. He offered for me to TAKE THE SHEET OFF if I was too hot. Um, sorry not about to be NAKED in a basement office with a strange man as he rubs my body. During the massage he asked me how I found out about him, and then proceeded to drill me for more information about my friend's experience. HE ADMITTED HE TALKS A LO!!! I told him it was hard to answer him because I was relaxed. Sadly, this did not work. He continued to ask me direct questions: how old are you? how much do you weight (as if whatever point he was making he needed to know these things about me). I said laughed awkwardly and said "um, thirties... how come?" and got nothing. Then he he wanted to know specifically how old i was "well that not very specific" Seriously guy? Can you take a hint? Then went on to tell me VERY sexist incorrect facts about women. "Did you know pregnant women's' brain die a little and that is why the are so crazy..." or something like that. This was not the end. You should know he GRUNTS A LOT during the massage. When I was on my back, he was massaging my pecks (strange place... but what the hell do I know) and grunted and was like "Oh all those push ups you do". While he may be harmless, it seems very creepy. At the end, I told him that I had a groupon. He refused to even look at the voucher (I was supposed to get champagne and a sugar scrub- you can guess he did not offer this). He told me "honey, don't even worry about that, I only make $20 off those." So then asked me to set up another appointment with him, because that would help him out more. I thought I was free to leave, but he would not stop talking to me. It seemed like he wanted feedback about why people do not come back "is it the basement location, is it how "he has unconventional looks", the fact that he talks too much, the name?". Also, if you are not doing so well with clients, then why are you booked up for weeks? Will not ever go back here again. It is hard to just "get up and leave" due to social niceties. You try to make sense of these things while it is happening, but after looking back I should have just walked out. Oh well, at least I can help out the next person. read more

I bought a groupon for a couples massage. It was Ren (female) and some guy (not sure his name). My girlfriends massage by the guy was good. He was attentive and she enjoyed it. My massage with Ren on the other hand was terrible. It felt like I was just getting lotion rubbed all over me with some severe elbowing. It didn't seem like she had any training is massage therapy. I felt jipped. Even after I asked her to pay attention to certain parts, it did not happen. So I spent one hour just getting a body rub... no true massage. Disappointing. read more

I see all of the disappointed customers were couples massage, but I had a single massage with the owner Steve Wills and it was awesome and so was he! GPS took me to the wrong location first, so I was 10-15 min late and totally stressed and he immediately asked me to relax and enjoy, he was still able to give me the full hour (very kind and flexible!). The massage itself was magical! He is an expert and I honestly felt amazing for a few days, not just the usual few hours! He is professional, kind, accommodating and masterful! I typically get massages every 3-5 months from different places in the area and I plan to go back to Steve from now on. He was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable but wasn't bothersome. Is there a negative star available? My son gifted me a Groupon for a massage with champagne for a treat, I called to make an appointment and only got the voicemail stating to leave my name and number then some one would return my call. I called four times different days same message no return call. I then ask my son to contact Groupon for a refund. So, this morning I receive a call from the Willis Studio and explained to the person that I ask my son to call Groupon for a refund. The person said that they were on vacation - I said well your voicemail should had indicated that - he said "you don't need to tell me how to run my business". I hung the phone up! Be sure to add that to the Groupon complaint ! If this place provides good massages I will never know because the energy is not of a caring nature. Please note that I was courteous in my statement to the person but did hang up after that nasty response. I got the best massage. I told the masseuse (Steve - the owner) that I had sciatic pain in my right hip. He knew exactly what to do to relieve that pain. Worst massage ever! Unprofessional attitude! Extremely bad customer service by Steve- owner and massage therapist. I originally bought a groupon for five 60 minute massages- that I was asked to return and ask for a refund from Groupon. I was asked to do, so I can purchase the same package directly from the owner and massage therapist "Steve" so he can save the fees he has to pay to Groupon for advertising his business. It didn't matter to me, so I went ahead and returned my Groupon and paid him directly instead. I was promised that the same amount/number/ time of massages will be offered to me that is-five 60 minutes massages. One of my appointments were cancelled at the very last minute saying that his dog had a big bowel movement on the carpeting in his studio(dog always stays in the studio all the time) My last appointment was made for the month of February and it was made in the month of December for 90 minutes. I requested Steve to send me a confirmation text/email so I can mark the date on my cajendwr. But unfortunately I never received his text regarding my appointment. I contacted Steve regarding my appointment the first week of February and he informed me that I already missed my appointment and that he will have to charge me for the whole 90 minutes of the appointment time. Please note that no warning was given to me regarding getting charged for massage for a no show to the appointment. No confirmation was sent to me either despite of my request. Also, when I requested to get any kind of break, the business owner "Steve" was extremely rude to me and asked me to find a different therapist and also hung up the call. Went for prenatal massage. Guy breathed heavy throughout the massage. Music was not working. Had to turn on my own Pandora spa station to make the best out the situation. I'll start by saying the therapists we had were fine. Pleasant, nice, decent massage. But...we got the couples massage and there were no wknd or evening appts for 3 months. Ok fine, I get it. Make sure you ask for the chocolate and sugar scrub if you want it. We were not offered it, and didn't think to ask until after we left. The massage was also 50 min. Not an hour. And I mean, c'mon...the appt starts at 6:30. The very least you can do as a therapist is make sure you don't stop until 7:30 for an hour massage because obviously time is taken away at beginning to undress, etc. When a 6:30 appt stops at 7:25, you naturally feel jipped as a client. Customer service leading up to appt was not great (although the last person to schedule us was great; she took it upon herself to make sure we got an appt because they had to cancel our last one two hrs prior because a therapist called in sick). But our first appt was scheduled for dream cruise wknd and the girl on the phone could not give me any info on parking (if you live in bham which is where there office is, you know how big of a concern this can be during dream cruise). She said she didn't know if there was parking and couldn't guarantee parking (which is not what i asked her to do anyway) and that we should leave 30 min early just in case which I repeatedly told her we couldn't leave too early since we have jobs and have to work. In any case, she was rude and super unhelpful, sounded unmotivated, bothered, bored and I really hoped this wasn't the therapist I was going to get which thank God it wasn't (could tell by the voice). Also put me on hold twice to take other calls and instead of telling the other call to please hold while she finished with me, she just let me hold (twice) as she took care of other customers. This is Customer Service 101, day one... Original tel # on groupon was a 313 number which ins't the studio's number...I called it and the person answered "hello"... when we arrived at our appt, office was empty. Purchased a massage for Wills Holistic on Groupon and had the massage in May. I was very surprised to see that there wasn't an actual establishment when I showed up for my appointment. It was literally a room, and outside of that room was a little makeshift work table in the hallway where an assistant was checking people in, and two fold up chairs within elbow's reach to the assistant's table. I don't know if they were under renovation or what, but clients should be made aware of what they will be walking into if this truly is what this business is. The room where I had the massage looked thrown together. There was a hole in the wall, a desk up against another wall with stuff piled on top, and the room was cold. Steve, the owner, who gave the massage talked through the entire massage. It was awkward, the atmosphere sucked, and the massage was one of the worst I've ever had. read more

First of all I'm going to start by saying that I am a massage therapist and have been for the last 20 years and I have interviewed many massage therapists in my life and found them to be mainly unqualified when I was looking for an emergency massage for a locked up muscle in my shoulder blade I Googled massage therapy studios near me and this one showed up I really didn't know what to think I knew that they were running a Groupon I was slightly concerned it possibly they weren't qualified and we're starting out their business and thinking all sorts of other things of what it would be running a Groupon I asked the man on the telephone if it would be okay if I just purchased my massage directly from him because I didn't know if the massage I wanted was going to fall into the Groupon offer that was being offered at that time he graciously agreed and told me that he had a 4 o'clock appointment available which was approximately an hour and a half from where I was when I arrived I went to the lower level by elevator of a cute little office building developed into many stores I quickly found his location through the signage knocked on the door and I was welcomed by the owner who said he was doing my massage by the looks of him he was a larger man and because of his experience with massage therapist I did not find this intimidating at all I sat down and began talking to him while I was filling out the paperwork and he was arranging the room for my treatment I noticed that he had had a dog that he kept there with him she is very sweet her name is Lucy so I asked her to be in the room well I had my massage it was so wonderful to have a loving dog relaxing next to me while I was having my massage very peaceful very earthy and wonderful the man did my massage he did a great job his hands are very strong and he basically does a lot of trigger point work even though he said he was not using deep pressure it was only light to moderate pressure it was plenty deep enough plenty professional and I just feel amazing I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a serious wonderful massage. The quality of his massage far surpasses anything in the area you cannot compare it to any type of Massage Green Massage Envy or any of those chains yes it is lacking in Lustre as far as the appearance of the location but the quality of the massage far surpasses any type of cosmetic appearance of an atmosphere. This man is definitely worth a $25 tip per hour so you should definitely come prepared with cash to do so anything else would be an insult. He truely loves what he does. read more

I feel I need to report the owner. NO WOMAN should ever enter his place alone! Or just ever for that matter. I received a Groupon for a prenatal massage & not only is his "studio" in the basement of a very secluded building, but it's also the very last door down a dark hallway. I noticed there weren't any lights on behind the fogged glass next to the door so I opened it anyway... I entered a pitch black room that did not have a single piece of furniture in it & a large dog was lying on the floor who immediately got up & came at me! I started to back away when a man stuck only his head around a door that was ajar on the other side of the room. His hair was disheveled & he was sweating. He breathlessly told me that he needed a minute & that I should go to the bathroom, "Anywhere but here! I need a minute." And I quickly asked, "Who's massaging me?" And he replied, "I am!" So I left! First off, he was clearly doing something inappropriate behind the door, his dog was there to warn him of people coming in (I was a half hour early but I expected maybe a waiting room, chairs?? Nice music, a comfortable atmosphere?) And he was the only one there so there was NO WAY this guy was going to be alone with me, a woman who's almost 9 months pregnant in a secluded basement with him touching me!
