We have eaten here twice this week and it was really good both times. We ordered double Bacon Mushroom Jalapeño burgers and split an order of fries. You get the burger with jalapeños on it and a cup with more if you want more spice. The burger patties are a little small which is why we did doubles. If I didn't have a minimum protein requirement, a single would be plenty. The people were friendly and accommodating. The outdoor seating is "rustic" but fine in good weather. This is like a stationary food truck kind of shack so there is no indoor seating. We will be back when we are in the area. read more

I've never seen anything more ridiculous in my life. They ration their hotdog wieners in halves or wholes. The menu is so confusing, way too many size options for a hotdog??!!! I ordered a little hotdog and my hotdog had half a slice of a wiener. Like what in the actual f? And they make their burgers look so big but in all reality they're just plain. Will not go back. Willy please use normal size WHOLE wieners in your hotdogs. And charging for ketchup and fry sauce is a crime. read more

CASH ONLY. They don't actually have a phone, so don't bother trying to call the number yelp provided *not their number* Walk up, order, pay cash, wait ~10 minutes. Everything is made to order *thumbs up* I ordered the basic cheeseburger for $5.50 (1/4 oz prior to cooking). They don't skimp on the mayo/mustard/ketchup or the pickles; a taste of pickle in every bite. Lots of bread to soak up the sauces. I ordered extra lettuce (keepin' it healthy - lol) and it seems like they didn't know what to do, so they boxed it up separately for our to-go order *kinda cute* Like all good burgers, kinda messy, but plenty filling *yum* The .50 caliber is a 3 patty burger; a meal a buy itself for $9.00 A locally owned business, no muss, no fuss. Just a solid burger and fry place. Cool local spot with outdoor picnic tables if you want to "eat-in" Not sure what this strictly burger/fry shop has to do with bullets, but I would stop by again when in the area. I've been meaning to write a review for Willy's Burgers for some time now because my partner and I stop by to get their western burger at least 2x a month. It is hands down the best burger joint in Southern Oregon especially for those in the GP, RR and GH area. This burger is worth the money, we've never been disappointed with the quality! In fact- it tastes the exact same EVERY TIME, he's got the exact ingredients down to a T. The burgers are put together so well, they never fall apart which is surprising given how big and juicy they are. Not only are the burgers top notch, the owner and his right hand employee are genuinely great people who take pride in their hard work and their great food. Now that it's getting warmer I highly recommend checking them out and enjoying a burger & fries on their little patio area for lunch or dinner! read more

Seriously the best burger I can ever remember having!! Was on a motorcycle road trip from Bend to the California coast, and needed some excellent real food. Everything was perfect. The bun was fresh and not big, the meat was delicious with a good crisp, the mushrooms were juicy and they offer a spicy/mayo-y fry sauce... with skinny/thin fries better than at McDs! The best burgers and the best set up. I love the seating, you can tell it will be the perfect place to go on a summer evening with friends or a date. We arrived right at open on a Saturday, definitely coming back. I got a double average burger and it was so juicy and flavorful. Almost couldn't finish it but I powered through the uncomfortably full feeling because it was so dang good. The owner was prompt friendly and quick. The menu easy to read. Update. Tried this place again on a whim. Absolutely disgusting and burgers were burnt. New ownership has no idea what they are doing and customer service sucks. Unsanitary practices multiple times since being in... unfortunately will have to contact the health department at this point. So many better options elsewhere! We sat at the picnic table closest to the trailer's entrance and, through a screen door, watched Mark Shehorn perform street magic on a flat grill, the aroma of grilled meat and onions catching the breeze. I'm getting ahead of myself. Two days earlier, a friend recommended Willy's Burgers & Bullets. He said it isn't a fancy place but assured me I'd find a good lunch at a great price. So, last Friday, another friend and I found ourselves ravenous and nearby, having returned from a liquor run to Hilt, California. We pulled off Interstate 5 at Gold Hill Exit 40 and crossed the Rogue River, traveling north on Old Highway 99 until we reached the little red trailer at the corner of Fredenburg Street and Second Avenue. Named after a 19th-century gold discovery, Gold Hill is a small town with a population hovering 1,500. The city website lists only four restaurants, a diner, a Mexican restaurant, a take-home pizza shop and Willy's Burgers & Bullets. Willy's is a throwback to classic, family-owned roadside burger stands, which once lined America's highways long before soulless fast food restaurants mushroomed around interstate interchanges. A red, metal carport covers the red trailer and a wood picnic table. Another picnic table sits further back from the road under two, vinyl Coca-Cola patio umbrellas. There's enough shaded, outdoor seating for 12-16 people. At the furthest corner of the lot, Willy's provides a (red!) porta-potty for customers. As luck would have it, a short, disheveled 50ish woman tumbled out of her midsize sedan and scuttled to the counter a minute before us. We listened as she hemmed and hawed before placing an $80 takeout order for 16 burgers. She retrieved four wadded $20 bills out of her ragged purse with the faux amazement one expects from a children's party magician. I didn't applaud her act. She tottered off to her car and drove off. "That's a big order," I said into the order window. "Ahh, sorry guys," said Mark. "Yeah, it'll take me twenty minutes. I'm in here by myself. My wife should be back soon." I told Mark his burger shop came highly recommended and we'd be happy to wait. I looked at the menu, noting a cheeseburger is $3.75; a double cheese is $5; a small order of fries is $2.50; and a large order of fries for $4. A hand-written sign on the glass next to the order window offered a 38 Special: a cheeseburger, small fry and 16 oz drink for $7. "Thanks, guys," said Mark. "I'll go as fast as I can." He returned to the grill and we took seats at the end of the picnic table closest to the trailer's entrance. The real magic show began, enveloping us in the savory smoke of grilled meat and onions. Jennifer Shehorn arrived a few minutes later. She kindly acknowledged us as she entered the red trailer. Working together, they made quick work of the 16-burger order with Mark providing status updates through the screen door as our order -- two double, bacon cheeseburgers and fries -- neared the grill. Our burgers arrived paper wrapped, sesame seed buns filled with two beef patties, thick strips of bacon, crisp iceberg lettuce, tomato, pickle slices, and a generous serving of grilled onions. Seasoned shoestring fries filled the rest of the basket. From my vantage point, I had seen the First Street brand hamburger patties and shoestring fries were frozen, alleged unforgivable sins in today's culinary culture, where the trend drives overpriced burgers. Therein is the magic of Willy's Burgers & Bullets. From humble (frozen) beginnings, Mark and Jennifer serve simple but delicious burgers and fries with pleasing flavor and texture, all from a kitchen not much larger than two phone booths pressed side by side. Today's culinary culture, of which this website is incorporated, too often ignores old-fashioned audiences. Located across the street from Sweed Machinery, Willy's fills a community need. We watched welders and machinists cross Second Avenue to place hamburger and hot dog orders; we watched a young, married couple enjoy lunch with their preschool-aged son under a patio umbrella; and, at the end of our picnic table, we watched two white-bearded men pause to say grace before eating their cheeseburgers. Willy's is a community treasure. We finished our burgers and ate as many fries as we could before throwing in the towel. As I cleared our table, I asked Mark why he didn't have a restaurant sign posted on I-5. "We tried," said Mark. "But the state won't accept us. They don't accept restaurants unless it has indoor seating or a 10-car parking lot." That's a shame. There's no reason Willy's Burgers & Bullets should be a place only locals know about. Don't let foolish bureaucracy dissuade you from taking Gold Hill Exit 40. As a burger lover, Willy's offers great customer service with good, old-fashioned burgers, tasty, filling and inexpensive. My hubby and I stopped here when we were staying at the State Park and the food was wonderful. Customer service was great. I wish she was closer to where we lived, I would go there more often. Next time we are in the area, we will stop by and get one of her wonderful burgers. read more

Great burger and fries for an even better price! My boyfriend and I got the Cajun burger and it was delicious! Caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup, and pepper jack cheese- what more could you want!!??
