I was referred by my primary dentist regarding getting some implants. My regular dentist recommended Eric Tsai very highly. I tried to schedule an appointment for a consultation and evaluation through his website and entered the name of the referring dentist and what my needs were. I received a call from his office later in the day and the person who called asked me for all the information I had submitted online. I was in my car and I referred back to the information submitted and that I would prefer to discuss my situation with the dentist after my exam. I was disappointed that the person calling didn't read my submission and I felt why did the online site ask for it if they were not going to look at it. When I said I would wait to review everything with the dentist because I didn't want to have to repeat everything again when I met with him, she said she would have someone call and hung up. Hanging up caught me totally off guard. Based on this call, I posted a 3 star review relaying my experience and later that evening the dentist called me directly. He explained that the call had been recorded (was not disclosed that it was being recorded during the call) and that his office person handled the call in appropriately and he apologized. Based on my conversation, the dentist and I agreed that someone from his staff would reach out to me to schedule an appointment (our conversation was after office hours) and that maybe with next Monday being a holiday (Mondays is when he did his consults in Walnut Creek), that something could be set up for Thursday in his Danville office. Again this was last Thursday evening. As a gesture of good faith, I removed my review, hoping for a fresh start. As of today, three business days later, no one has reached out to me. When looking for someone to perform oral surgery, one of the most important things is trust. But when your first impression is a rude office staff person (who the dentist acknowledged responded poorly) then there is no follow up when the dentist said someone would, it erodes your trust in the care and level of communication the office will give you. It shouldn't be so difficult, just read what I sent you can call back when you say you will. It's just respect. Again, I cannot speak to the dentist's skill or ability, but as a business owner myself, I don't think this is how you build a loyal client base. I guess that is why the Perioperative programs at Stanford include MBA classes to teach Doctors the business side of a practice.

A few shots of novacaine and an hour and 20 minutes later i walked out, unbelievably, without pain. Well, NO DUH... no pain because of being numb. But now, 4 hours later, and still no pain. I had dual coverage and so I had asked them if there's anything I'd need to pay or any fees for the appointment. I was told that there is no fee for a consultation. After my appointment at check out I was asked to pay $178. When I asked why I was told that's just what they charge. So I went ahead and paid it hesitantly. Several months later they sent me another bill for $145. When I called the office and asked why, they said it was for the CT scan that they did. And I remember having a conversation with the assistant prior to getting the CT scan and asking if I would have to pay for that scan. Since one was already done by my referring dentist I don't want to have another done unless there would be no charge. They had me wait a long time while they checked if it was covered then I was told that it's free of charge. And now they are requiring me to pay the $145 months later because apparently it's not covered since one was done by my other dentist- which I specifically told them. I think it's bad practice for the office side of the business. The doctor was very pleasant and nice but I will not be getting my treatment here due to the devious way the office conducts its business.

Afterward, both my doctor and a new periodontist told me that reading was not dangerously high and should not have prevented treatment. What was especially frustrating was that I never even spoke directly with the surgeon -- the dental assistant was the one who informed me the procedure could not be done. After being sent home twice, I then received a bill in the mail anyway. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and a complete waste of time and money.

It goes without saying I'd give her a good review regarding her surgical skills, but what I want to share with you is how she's made me feel and the experience I've had during my appointments.  First of all, if my appointment is at 8 a.m., I'm in the chair within 5 minutes. There is no waiting around, and I appreciate that she and her staff value my time.  She makes it clear that if an emergency arises, she is reachable outside of office hours. As much as I'd rather be anywhere else, Dr Grosso has a way of putting me at ease. I trust her, and for me, that's the most important thing of all.

OMG DON'T GO HERE!…read more #1 - I think it's COMPLETELY unsanitary to have a dog in a dental office. I'm not talking a small dog...this was a HUGE dog that stood above waist high. I'm short 5'1 but this dog by dog standards is considered big...larger than a german shepard. Apparently, the dog had surgery and was on medication so couldn't be left home alone. I think it's awful that they have patients that took time out of their busy schedules to attend an appt only to be greeted by this huge dog and for someone like me who doesn't like dogs this was a big deal. #2 I'm getting calls from a collection agency stating I owe $50 for a missed appt at this office. I spoke to Carol on the day I was supposed to show up for this appt. The problem is I never scheduled the appt! I received no prior notification of this appt. When scheduling future appts in this office there are 2 things that go hand-in-hand...scheduling the date/time and filling out the appt reminder post card with your name/address. I did neither because at the time of my last appt with them I was uncertain I would remain a patient of theirs because of the condition of their office and I was in between residences and didn't know where I was going to move to. According to the gal that answered the phone, whom I've not met before, wrote the appt in the books and said they sent me an email appt reminder. When I asked for proof of this she said they could not reproduce it. So #1 I didn't schedule the appt and #2 they couldn't prove they'd sent me a reminder. According to Carol they sent me 8 statements of which I only received 1 and the 1 statement was sent to an old address which was forwarded only for only 3 mos. He asked my sister and I to do the research and find him the best dentist to perform this all-important job for him as he had saved his money the last 2 years.  The first 2 places, Clear Choice and a well known oral surgeon in the area he disliked and dismissed immediately.  He said it reminded him of the time share sales pitches we experienced in Mexico.  We finally decided to ask our family dentist Dr Leung for a recommendation and surprisingly he said he did these full mouth implants in his office and has done them for many years.  He showed us his cases during a consultation with my dad, my mom, and I and our family decision was to go with him as we've always trusted him, and he did not overpromise.  6 months later, my dad has 8 implants on top and 6 implants at the bottom supporting his dental crowns, and he smiles and eats like a young man again.  We are glad we made our family decision to go with Dr Leung and he made the process easy and comfortable for my dad.  No surprises, everything as planned.
