I had seen Dr. Stevenson just over a year ago for a root canal, and he did a fantastic job during the procedure and in follow-up! Recently, I started having the same symptoms with another tooth and, of course, it was over the weekend. Come Monday, I was in serious pain, both tooth and earache. My regular DDS is off on Mondays, so I called Dr. Stevenson's office directly. Since I had already been seen previously, and was reporting the same type of symptoms, Dr. Stevenson was willing to have me come in for a consult the same day, and scheduled me for 4:30 p.m. Sure enough, I passed the need for a root canal test with flying colors, and Dr. Stevenson offered to start the procedure to at least alleviate the pain, and I would return to complete the job, or if there were no complications, then he would do it all in one sitting (pun intended). Sure enough, he was able to complete the entire procedure right then and there without any pain. I felt so bad for him, too, as he looked very tired after what I'm sure was a long day, but he was still very professional and caring. I definitely recommend this office as the entire staff is friendly and professional, and the procedure is painless. Once the novacaine wears off, be sure to have some Motrin or Ibuprofen handy, as the pain will come on strong, but by the next day I was feeling pretty good as long as I took the NSAIDs at the designated times. In fact, Dr. Stevenson recommended taking the OTC pain med prior to the novacaine wearing off so as not to have any serious pain. By the 3rd or 4th day, I didn't need any OTC pain med at all, and could eat on that side - not hard crunchy foods yet, but softer foods. And as with the last root canal, Dr. Stevenson called to see how I was doing a few days later. These guys know how to get you in and out fast, and take the time to explain what they're doing and alleviate your fears. Follow their directions post-procedure and you'll do fine! read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Mark Stevenson and his amazing team enough. I have a pretty irrational fear of any dental work, and when I found out I needed a root canal, I was absolutely terrified. I've always struggled with a sensitive gag reflex -- I mean, I can't even eat a hot dog too fast without gagging! But from the moment I walked into the office, the entire team made me feel so incredibly comfortable and at ease. From the friendly and warm front desk staff to the lovely ladies who did my scan, everyone I encountered was so kind and compassionate. They took the time to really listen to my concerns and made sure I felt as relaxed as possible. Dr. Stevenson, in particular, went above and beyond. He was so caring throughout the entire process, making sure I understood everything that was happening and checking in on me multiple times after the procedure. The level of care and attention I received was beyond anything I could have imagined. Even after the procedure, Dr. Stevenson personally reached out to make sure I was doing okay. That extra effort to ensure my comfort and well-being truly touched me. It was such a positive experience overall, and I left feeling not only pain-free but also with a renewed sense of trust in dental care. Dr. Cohen and staff are the most amazing people ever!!!!! I have had 2 root canals and minor surgery to fix a mung root that just wanted to keep giving pain. They made me feel so comfortable and were fantastic. As weird as it sounds each visit with Dr Cohen has been a breeze and virtually painless, even the Novocain shots hardly pinched (the man knows his stuff that is for sure)...Each time he told me that it wouldn't hurt and I stressed he ended up being 100% right. He is always up front and honest and if I ever have to have another procedure I would defiantly want to go him him. The entire staff is friendly and greets you upon entering the office. They make you feel like you are the most important person there and make an effort to know you by name so the minute you walk in the door you get that "James Bond" feeling as if they "have been expecting you". They also make you feel so comfortable and are all happy to answer any questions you may have without hesitation (meaning they all know their stuff too). Makes me feel good knowing I am in good hands all the way around. On top of the staff and doctors the technology is above and beyond amazing and top of the line. I have never seen anything like it in my life, I wish all health care facilities that I went to were so on top of things, they just don't skip a beat. I highly recommend Dr Cohen and staff they are wonderful people and will make even the most unpleasant of situations, pleasant and comfortable so there is no need to fret over a procedure which has had a history of pain, they have changed the way root canals are done (and I mean that in a good way). If you need a root canal, go see Dr. Cohen! I went to his office based off of other yelp reviews and they were spot on. There was no PAIN at all. I mean none. I've had a few root canals done in the past and I've never experienced a painless procedure. Dr. Cohen and Maggie (wonderful assistant) had me in and out of the chair in less then an hour. The procedure went seamlessly. After he was done, I asked him how much of experiencing no pain was the novacane and how much was him. He jokingly said "novacane zero". Of course the novacane helped! Another thing I appreciated was that Dr. Cohen took the time to go over the history of the tooth with me and then proceeded to check by x-rays and testing that a root canal was actually needed. Needless to say, mine was far gone by that point but they said they wouldn't do a procedure if it wasn't necessory which again I really appreciated. After I left the office I thought about my past root canals and why there was a huge disparity when it came to pain. Looking back, my past root canals were all done by general dentists. Most general dentist who do root canals don't have the experience as Dr. Cohen and his staff have. He is an expert in his field. That's all they do all day. The Dr. and staff were fantastic! It's crazy to say this about a root canal, but it was actually a wonderful experience. I could go on and on about how great the procedure, the office, and the staff were but you can just read the other rave reviews. I was reffered here by my own dentist he told me that these guys knows what they're doing, so I took his advice and went to see Mark Stevenson, I walked in and they had a very nice office and everything was very hightech, staff was very friendly, so after I filled my papers, they took me in, for the first time I met Mark Stevenson probably one of the nicest person you can meet in your lifetime, so he start working on my root canal, I thought it was going to be painfull process but I was wrong, I could of sleep on that chair, however after my root canal, he told me how to take care of it just until I get my permanent filling, So after a year later, I had an another root canal but this time it was emergency I couldnt sleep for 2 days, I called there office and it was Sunday and they dont work on Sundays, so no one was there to answer but Mark Stevenson usually gives his cell phone number to his patients just incase of emergency, I didnt want to call him but those who knows how a teeth can hurt can unerstand my pain, long story short, Mark Stevenson was kind enough to see me on Sunday around 8:00 pm, when I told him that I havent been able to sleep for 2 days and cant wait another day to get this taken care of, AWESOME GUY. I'm one of those people who don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to write this after my experience with Dr. Cohen and his staff. To put it simply, they are the BEST. A perfect mix of friendly and professional service. I'd had been to several endodontics prior to seeing Dr. Cohen. I read their reviews and honestly thought it too good to be true. Pain free root canal? Right!! My previous root canal had somehow gotten infected after a year or so. The doctor that did the procedure told me that he would have to scrape my gums, and informed me that is was a very painful procedure. I went to Dr. Cohen and he said he'd simply drill a small hole in my crown, remove and replace the rods, and that would take care of it. If it didn't, then he'd have to scrape my gums (yes, he took the time to explain all of my options, the consequences, and game plan moving forward). I went in around 10 in the morning and went for a 5 mile run later that same day. That's how easy and pain free the procedure was. Unfortunately, the tooth got infected again about a week later (just before I was supposed to go on vacation), so I feared the worse. But they saw me immediately, ground my crown down to offer some pressure relief and prescribed antibiotics and said that would take care of it, and it did. My only regret is that Dr. Cohen and his staff can't be my regular dentists!!! read more

I joined yelp just to write this review. My dentist referred me to Scott Cohen for a root canal on a hot tooth with a crown. The office was beautiful. The staff professional and very compliemntary of Dr. Cohen. I was terrified (I had gone through this same procedure with another Endodontist several years ago and it was a disaster. I actually slugged the Endodontist because he was a complete toad who refused to recognize he was hurting me and I needed more novacaine.). As I was explaining this to Dr. Cohen, he calmly assured me I would feel no pain while in his care. Througout the procedure he was both informative about the pace of the procedure and reassuring. He was correct - I felt absolutely no pain! It was amazing! In fact it was such a terrific experience, as these things go, that I brought up another tooth with a crown that I was having similar issues with, and plan to return to have him address this one as well! I have been telling both friends and family about Dr.Cohen and my amazing root canal experience. In doing so I found my niece had also been to see Dr. Cohen and only had terrific things to say about her experiences there as well. I was referred to this office from my regular dentist to check out a potential need for a root canal. Dr Stevenson did the consultation and sure enough I needed to have a root canal. I mentioned to them that I had heavy travel schedule coming up and he scheduled to have the root canal done in the same day, in the evening after his other appointments. Needless to say, I can be a difficult dental patient at best. Dr Stevenson was very patient, caring and compassionate and so was his assistant. They were both among the nicest people I have met. It turned out I had a lot of decay under a crown that was done years ago - hence the problem - so it ended up not being an easy job, but they both were professional and compassionate, explaining what was happening throughout the two hour appointment. I highly recommed this office for this kind of work. No one wants to get a root canal, but if you need one, this is the place to go! I hope I don't ever have to have a root canal agin, but if I do, this is where I will go even though it's out of my dental insurance network. It was worth the extra cost for me! read more

This was my first experience with Dr Stevenson and staff due to jaw and tooth pain. He was able to fit me in (which was on a Friday before I was going away for the weekend) for a consultation to determine the cause. After a thorough check up and explanation of the cause he felt I needed a root canal that day and said there would be no way I would make it through the weekend without intervention. He every effort and altered his schedule to squeeze me into his already full schedule later that afternoon. Between the time I left the consultation and returning for the procedure the infection had flared up and began to make it's way through the gum tissue validating Dr Stevenson's concern. When I returned for the afternoon appointment the attentive front staff noticed how much pain I was in the waiting room asked Dr Stevenson if I could get numbed up well before my appointment time so I could get comfortable, which they did. Fortunately, I chose Dr Smith-Rhode for care, who determined I needed to be seen by you for a root canal and referred me to you. You saw me on Wednesday September 17, 2025. You and your staff's customer service was exceptional! The work environment was super clean and comfortable. The "outcome of your care" allowed me to think clearly and to drive safely and to enjoy the scenery from Concord across to Denver (Zero pain or discomfort). From Kansas border to St Louis, to my home here in Illinois, I had to drive through heavy thunderstorms and rain and required 100% alertness. Again, the result of your "care" allowed me to think clearly and to concentrate on driving. My trip of approximately 1,800 miles ended safely and enjoyable! This was my second visit to Dr. Stevenson, as with the first visit this one was fantastic. From the very beginning the process was absolutely seamless. The front office reached out to assist me in responding to the Covid questionnaire, a neccessary step in providing safety and security for all involved. Reception on day of procedure was friendly, quick and assuring. Friedel, Dr.s assistant was incredibly efficient, friendly and professional. Dr. Stevenson greeted me and the whole time during procedure kept me informed and comfortable. The extent with which they made sure all of us were safe was much appreciated and made for a secure environment. No one wants to have dental work done , let alone a root canal. I was referred to Golden Gate Endodontics for my first, gasp, root canal. I was worked on by Dr. Cohen and Bianca. For Cohen, this might have been his 10,000th root canal. It was incredibly routine for him, and it showed in his confidence. Yet, with some professionals, routine and confidence can be accompanied by arrogance. Not so with Cohen. He took personal attention to me like I was his only patient. He and Bianca, who is also quite savvy, worked great together. Bianca must have worked with Dr. Cohen so much that she could anticipate what the Dr. needed.
