I have been wanting to try a new hair salon as the one I used to go to shut down. I was intrigued to come here as the reviews are great. I had a wonderful experience and had the pleasure of having Wilma cut my hair. She has excellent skills and is very warm and friendly. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and attentive. I was so disappointed and the OWNER knew it when I left and never tried to remedy the situation. I went in for a wash and blowout for an event I was going to that evening and looked lIke I had a fishbowl on my head when Wilma was done (I DID try to show her what I wanted). I ended up going home and rewashing and styling my hair. Almost $40 for nothing. read more

I visited Wilma's Salon for the first time today for a color, cut and blow dry. I wasn't happy with the way my hair was looking, and also needed to find a more moderately priced salon than the one I had been going to for some time. I had originally scheduled my appointment for next week, but Wilma found a time she could fit me in today. I went there even if it's farther from our place but I was disappointed. I agree with the other customer's review that she didn't even shampoo and blow dried her hair. Same thing happened to me. And I didn't get the right style I wanted, maybe because it wasn't shampooed and blow dried. read more

They really need to listen to their customer's wants instead of deciding what is best for them. I went in with a picture of exactly what I wanted, which was ombre red to Blonde. I wanted bright and vibrant. She instead gave me straight red hair and took out all of my blonde and all the orange was very subtle. When I asked her why she took away the blonde.. she said she would put it back. She put a little bit of coloring in and when I asked for more blonde she said she would and then didn't bother to put more in. The end result put me in tears. They were very understanding and said I didn't have to pay. I paid because she spent hours on my hair. I explained that I wanted bright and she gave me subtle and boring. I fail to understand how if you give a picture, you don't get anything like the picture. They have done my hair in the past and it came out nice. I just wish they had done what I asked instead of deciding what I wanted. I am very sad and upset. They are nice people. I hope in the future they will listen to their clients. I'm going to have to pay more money when I get the chance elsewhere to get what I want and that makes me even sadder. read more

I have thick, curly hair, and I was concerned about finding a stylist who wouldn't make a mess of it. Wilma has not disappointed; she does a great job, every time. Sometimes, she is very busy, and I end up having to wait, even though I have made an appointment. I would advise making an appointment for a weekday if possible; weekends are very busy. read more

I had a great haircut, I just wanted a small trim and got amazing layers. But it was hard to communicate what I wanted and at the end of the haircut my scalp was hurting and it cost 65 dollars. I have gotten 10 inches off and bangs for only 30 dollars at my other normal place. The people truly straighten your hair with a blow dryer by pulling it and putting lots of heat on your hair. Just make sure that you are used to your hair being pulled and having to pay quite a lot. Although the haircut was very good I think I'll be going to another one next time. read more

I was really apprehensive after moving from Brooklyn to the NJ Suburbs. I absolutely loved my hair salon and didn't have my highlights redone in the months since I moved. I knew it was time though, so during an extensive search I came across Wilma's Salon. There are many salons in the area, however maybe it was her Facebook fans, or the friendly way she answered the phone that made me decide to give her a shot I was not disappointed! In fact she exceeded my expectations tremendously. I am very picky when it comes to service, I do not expect a fancy salon I just want to be made to feel welcome. And that I was, even though I am an obvious outsider.. I was seen to promptly and did not have to wait a long time to be seated (a huge pet peeve) Wilma understood exactly how I wanted my highlights and made me feel totally at ease, she is a true professional and an artist. A real expert at foils, weaving, and spacing. (And trust me, I have been doing this for longer than I care to admit.) I love my hair and will be back again. When I called the morning I needed my hair done Wilma answered and without hesitation she fit me in. When I got there I was seen right on time. Wilma worked w me and was very patient w me about what I wanted and really listened to me. She was very kind and welcoming. I got a trim and side bangs for only $25.
