I've been going here for a year and I love it! I get facials by Resa. She's an excellent esthetician - very sweet, friendly, and her work is amazing. So far I've tried custom facials and microderm infusion and I've had great experiences with both. I hope to try out red light therapy and dermaplaning in the near future. I'm a 15 year certified and licensed massage therapist who just moved to the area, so tried out this spot. I asked for Deep Tissue, as I'm very accustomed to it, and get massaged at least twice a month. Let me start with good: This place is huge, clean, and relaxing. The waiting room is lovely, and they've got some cool smart tech with music. Here's the bad: I had a very clear conversation where I asked my therapist for Deep Tissue. And I booked a deep tissue. She was overly talkative, and asked me a million questions about if I've had deep tissue, knew about elbows used, drinking water etc. And then after this lengthy prep, she used her elbow ONCE... seriously, once...and gave me a LIGHT SWEDISH. Her touch was not intuitive nor relaxing, with short strokes that didn't feel like they were actually intuiting the muscles beneath. It was like she was manipulating skin. It felt like a massage you get in massage school from a first-time therapist. When I asked her to go DEEPER please, she said she could not go deeper in certain areas for safety. Not true given we were working on my levator, trapezius and scalenes. I'd highly recommend this Massage Envy vet their therapists better, and I'm happy to provide the name of the therapist if you contact me. read more

For my birthday my mom said she would transfer me one of her massages at massage envy. When I came in for my "appointment" the woman at the desk said that there was no appointment for me. I'm just confused i spent 5 mins on the phone with someone literally just scheduling the massage. What a waste of my time, very upsetting. Not blaming the front desk people but come on! As with most other reviews on the interwebs, I have to agree that the experience is largely lackluster. They push the subscription model hard, hour massages are only 50 minutes, and the massage "therapists" vary in skill. I once had a masseuse wear earbuds and listen to music the entire time. Shouldn't they be focused to make sure they're not hurting the person or listening for cues? You're better off finding an independent spa that charges better prices and hour massages actually last 60 minutes. read more

I've been a member since 2013. I have had 1 massage which was ok. The facials are alright not the best however serves it's purpose. Every visit I pay with my membership, leave a nice tip and always buy a product ( I do it for the esthetician who have a goal). I had an appointment today at 10. It wasn't confirmed the day before, I went to it only to be told that I had to leave due to a mistake. The young lady Lilian was trying her best to tell me. She was sweet. What I do not understand is how the manager sat there and did not get up to apologize for the mix up. If I cancel last minute as a client I get charged; as a client I use my gas, time and make arrangements only to be told sorry. I am done with massage envy. It's not worth it. read more

However if you are looking for comprehensive deep tissue work where they are thorough from head to toe.... this isn't the place for you. The lighting, music, scents... all play into my experience so I appreciate when the therapist responds to your nonverbal feedback and can feel with her hands.... where you need work. I always liked this place but when covid hit, they continued to charge the monthly fee even though they were closed!!! I called and they stopped and I explained how we lost a family member so even when they opened, I wanted to be put on hold. They reopened and I found the charge on my Amex bill. I called them and left a message and I emailed them to cancel. The woman told me that she would reimburse me and that was two months ago and there is no refund and Amex has not been told to do so. My wife bought 3 one-hour massage package for my bday. I tried to return it (as I've heard poor feedback from friends) but Massage Envy doesn't accept returns, so they refused to provide a refund. Had two massages so far, one was bad the other one was average. Overall, lower quality than average. Furthermore, actual massage time is only 50-min. I used to use this location because of thier ONE good feature. Besides the courtesy of staff, while all the other locations fill up thier appts and never have any space avail. This location consistantly has room avail in thier schedule almost immediately and I can call while pulling out of my driveway and the most I will have to wait for an avail time slot is an hour. I have never been turned away stating they are all booked. I do not book in advance because I go only as needed when in major pain, so I have to book last minute. The bad thing is they start my massage late and finish early constantly so I do not get the full amt of time promised. Also the massage is average at best. Thats why the few attendants I found that are very good I will only go to them. If there are no appts avail I just keep trying to get a last min appt and by months end I usually succeed. read more

It's moderately-priced membership ($63.13) is for everyday people who need some good ol' TLC when it comes to managing stress in their life (like me), an old injury or two (like me), and to gift oneself to an hour of relaxation. Come a few minutes early and enjoy a hot cup of green tea to get the relaxation started a little early. Once it's time, your therapist comes to meet you in the lobby area and leads you to one of the many individual massage rooms. There's also a couple's massage room which I've never had a problem booking when I needed it. Please note: You do not need to be a member to schedule appointments here; however, the monthly membership is a significantly discounted rate vs. the standard rate (I believe $99/hour). Hospitality/Customer Service: I've been a member here for almost 7 years. When you pay a monthly membership fee, you want to feel like a valued guest, and, while that hospitality/welcome factor has gone up and down over the years, I'm happy to say it's finally leveled off as of lately. Kelly and Mirella made a great team at the reception desk, but it went downhill after a few years when they left. Allison has been at the reception desk for almost 2yrs I would say, and she has finally gotten a handle on it all and has studied her clientele; she is a great addition to the reception team at Massage Envy in Closter. Massage Therapists: I've had good massage sessions with Liz, Nicole, and Cruz. But I have to admit my all time favorite is Tasheen. She elevates the Massage Envy experience by making you feel at home. She has a warmth to her and a soothing tone, and she really invests in her clients which is what I love and appreciate about her. (I look forward to my sessions because I know I will not only get an amazing hour of relaxation, but most likely a life lesson or an epiphany/light bulb moment as well). What I like is when you book an appointment, just describe whatever it is you're trying to accomplish, and you will be paired with the right therapist (be it light/medium/hard pressure, sports injury, etc.). Also, if you're really in pain and/or just need an extra long massage, you can "upgrade" to an hour and a half. I'm not sure what the non-member rate is, but for members, they literally will just deduct a "half hour" from the massage(s) you have accumulated. Guests/Gifts: I also really like the fact that my monthly massages accumulate if I miss a month (right now I have 6 accumulated lol). If you don't always have time like me, do not fret! You can "transfer" a massage as a gift to someone in the form of a gift card (+ $10 transfer fee). This also applies to bringing a "guest." The only stipulation is that the gift recipient/guest can only go once every 6 months to a location (since it's a membership benefit to receive massages at a discounted monthly rate). I have yet to try a facial, which is a new service they added a number of years ago (same cost as a monthly massage +$10 products fee). I just scheduled my first facial for next month, so I will be sure to post an update then. Tip: Get there 10-15min early so you can unwind with (complimentary) hot tea. Tip: If you have a specific therapist in mind, book as early as you can (even one month in advance). I know my fave, Tasheen, is always booked up. Fyi: There's plenty of parking as it's located in Closter Plaza. Be warned: There's a Harmon next door in addition to a really good nail salon. So what you think is an $80+ day (massage + tip) almost always turns into a $200 day lol read more

I have been going to this location for over 2 years and it is always clean, calm, and professional. I appreciate the services I receive, everybody knows my name when I walk in! Also, my massage therapist Bart, is hands down THE BEST! He is very attentive, knowledgeable about why certain muscles ache, and consistent with the pressure; some areas firmly, and some areas more gently.
