My father passed away a couple years ago and left behind a garage full of tools and broken appliances that he didn't get around to fixing. As the oldest in the family, it was my responsibility to clear it out. I didn't have the patience nor the time to organize a yard sale, so I searched online for a recycling center. What drew me to Wilmington Recyclers was the fact that they offer 7cents per pound for metal while other places give only 1 cent per pound. Also, compared to other places, they have the most extensive list of items that they will take: ewaste, appliances (large and small), and even car batteries For the metals, they have an in ground scale that weighs the car along with your haul, afterwards, you drop off the metals in a large metal bin, then reweigh you car. There are many different lines for different items, the process can be very overwhelming for a newbie. Robert helped guide us, and walked us through each area. I saw many families turning in their recyclables: a good lesson in reducing waste. FYI: Most staff speak little English, so look for Robert/Roberto if you don't speak Spanish. read more

They have plenty of baskets for you to organize your recyclables and if needed, they will help you get it over to the scales I've been there a few times and I noticed that they really aren't cheating the people. Bad lighting on scales one can't truly see their weights and need more help when parking

Some of the employees give off an attitude and can be rude. They either don't like doing their job or they think it's their money they're paying out. I gave back $40 after they gave me too much for the weight I thought was a mistake. Yet they wouldn't take a wine box and bag that wasn't marked CRV. Note all bag in box wine containers greater than 7% alcohol is redeemable for $.25 marked or not. Ditto any glass and aluminum depending on size is $.5 to .10 Why do I need to tell them their job. I went to the one in Torrance and they paid for it. Torrance also lets you count out 200 containers. Their yard is not all sticky and dirty like Wilmington. No trash and bags blowing around. And no cars parking wherever they want blocking you in. Robert is nonresponsive when told he has rude employees. Though he did wash down the yard when told my shoe's were sticking to the ground. Though their rates are good in Wilmington I take my business elsewhere. I'm sure I won't be missed. Though Doris and the chickens will miss the food that I would drop off. read more

Don't risk your life or property for trash. A guy pulled a knife out at me today and I am not coming back! The homeless are out of control and he called me a f$&@0t and said he doesn't give a f($k about scratching my car. I have been going here for 14 years, and have had numerous scratches, tire nails and door dings over the years. That same homeless parked right next to my car and put his shopping cart right on my car scratching it. This place had an armed robbery a few years ago and also I have gotten cheated many times. The place is dirty and as a black man I get the scowl and treated like crap today my recycling was to too dirty for them they dumped it out and made me pick the clean recycling off the ground to get $4. I came here's to sell about 10lbs of nickel tubing I had painstaking pulled from a refrigerator and separated from the venting. They tried to tell me it was steel and put a magnet up to it. I tried to explain that nickel is magnetic too, but they wouldn't hear it and offered me $2 for it. I was trying to do my part in saving the environment and making money. This recycling center is located in an industrial area by the port. Make sure to follow the navigation. Unless you live nearby (Long Beach, Wilmington, or South Bay), I don't see why anyone would travel so far to recycle. People that come here are serious players in the recycling business. I came here with three full trash bags, while others are with a van full of recyclables. Come here, take a recycling bin, separate them according to the type of recyclables, and get paid. Very simple. Don't cheat because they will know if you placed a glass in the aluminum section. Due to the nature of the business, it's not the most sanitary place to be, so make sure to bring sand sanitizers. Why I would be back, they are open on Sundays. read more

It seems like this place does have the best payout rate versus the other recyclers around town however, I'd take less money to go to a nicer, cleaner, and safer facility. I came here on Sunday, which was my first mistake. It was completely packed with people and cars. It felt very overwhelming and there was no real organization. They have these giant rolling bins where you separate all your recyclables but the people who seem to come here are very careless and they leave the bins and carts all over the place, they roll into cars, they dump their trash or whatever they can't recycle onto the floor, etc. Not really the clean and environmentally friendly kind of place (even though it's a recycle center). Although I applaud places that recycle, it seems like this place is doing more harm. Pulling into this place, I saw plastic bags everywhere outside the facility, across the street, stuck in trees, all coming from this place. People come here with bags filled with their bottles, and then dump the bags on the floor. It's so sad and makes the neighborhood around this place look disgusting. Not that this is completely the businesses fault, but some organization and rules definitely need to be made and enforced. It was also so hard to get in and out of this place. There aren't any stalls to park your car, so people just park however they want. I saw people parking behind other cars and blocking them in. Someone parked so close to me that I couldn't get in my door. These people are also lugging around giant bags of glass, metal, and cans, potentially hitting your car. Did I mention the bees? Bees EVERYWHERE! I'm allergic, so I was on high alert. But because there are cans with sugary goodness still in them, there were bees everywhere and you can't get away from them. Just gross and scary. There are some positives to this place such as, they're open all week, they do have the best payout rate, and they take a lot of metals that a lot of places won't recycle. I've been trying to get rid of a heater that was removed from my wall but nobody would take it. This place took it and gave me $1, but it wasn't really about the money, I just wanted it out of my yard. Honestly, I won't come back here. Do not go here for your heavy metals. I took clean brass from old doors I saved to recycle. However, after unloading the material and going to the scale I ask the guy in charge to give me the weight before I release the brass. He goes to inspect it and says, "you have to clean it, because it could be metal inside." You can clearly tell it is all brass. I went home cut it down even more and can clearly see it's brass thick and through. They'll try anything to get you to accept a lower price. Would have been 50 cents a pound if I gave it to them. I'm a recycling kind of guy! Not so much about getting my nickel back from all the nickels I spend in addition when buying drinks with the California CRV logo on it, but rather trying to save our environment for the future from human destruction. Not to get into detail, but every little bit helps. How did I end up in Wilmington, instead of just going to a local place in the San Gabriel Valley? Well, dumb me did not realize people ate lunch during the time I went. So instead of waiting, I was being productive (hopefully) instead. I was in a time crunch for a meeting in Long Beach, that I went to the meeting with all my recyclables inside my car. Now, I officially know how it feels to be a pack rat! Anyhow, this recycling center was very efficient. I was probably there no more than fifteen minutes, since they were not as busy in the afternoons during the week. I dump all my plastic bottles and aluminum cans in a couple of large rubber trash cans they use there. You bring the trash cans to the scale up front for them to weigh. I'm not sure how much they pay per pound, but I got $11 back for all the hard work... haha. The technician weighs, writes a receipt, you sign and take it to the cashier. The area around the recycling place is very industrial-like. Very run down, dusty, dirty, with a foul odor of old rotten beverages. But, it's a very typical recycling center that's similar to the other ones. They buy cans, plastic bottles, and glass. Basically anything with the California CRV logo stamped on. I'm not too sure if they buy bulkier items such as paper, cardboard, or even old batteries, because I didn't see any. Decent place to go. Hard to find especially if you're not familiar with the area. But service is good, and I had a good experience trying to save the World. read more

I love this recycler! They assist you quickly!! I would recommend coming to a recycler with your cans and bottles already separated so you can just dump them in a cart and go get them weighted quick! I went in on Saturday (9/28/19) with 4 huge bags of plastic bottles and a bag of cans and got $80.93! It was sprinkling when we got there. Since we already had our bottles and cans separate prior to arrival all we did was dump them into the carts, wait to get weighted and cash-out - we took no more than 7 mins. read more

I want to recycle and do my part to help the environment but this place doesn't take glass or paper just cans /plastic water bottles and heavy metals I've been here twice and both times i had to argue with them to take the plastic and glass.
