At its core, a very simple and reliable recycling service! Aim to organize your glass bottles, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles/gallons prior to coming over so you're in and out. This place has its own sanitation station, but I highly recommend bringing your own gloves and hand sanitizer. Aluminum and plastic bottles go into the orange net baskets (but should be separated). Large plastic gallons should be placed on top of small/standard water bottles. Glass bottles go into the grey plastic bins. If you come right before they open at 9AM, you'll likely run into 1-2 parties trying to be in and out of there as well. I tried to leave this review via my phone and yelp glitched out and the review didn't post, but instead of taking it as a sign to not bother, fired up my laptop to tell you to beware this place. When the former punk rock listening guy (who has the dog) was there, I had no problems. I would usually get at least $8- $12+ for my bi-monthly collection of aluminum cans, glass, and plastic water bottles. The last time I went to this location, the punk rock guy was gone and there were three new guys there and I only got less than $5. I went back today at 3pm hoping that maybe the dog owning guy was back but I think he's gone. The three guys were there. There were several orange-fence bins full of drinking water bottles in front of the pay-out stand as if they had been abandoned by other angry customers. The employees were arguing with the person in front of me because the customer wasn't able to see the screen for the scale and so there was no way for the customer to verify the weight. They watched me take two full over-sized garbage bags out of my trunk and pour each of them into a fence-bin. Then as soon as they finished with the customer in front of me, said they needed to close for about an hour and were done paying out "for now". It was already 3pm and the place closes at 4 anyways. I said I was leaving and they responded rudely "okay bye" but yelled at me when I took the two bins of *my* recycling back towards my car, so I could just dump everything into my trunk to re-sort at home later for another place (as they had watched me empty and discard my original trash bags, I think they were expecting me to just leave the CRV recycling in their bins). As I was dumping the bins directly into my trunk, they told another customer [I'm] "always crazy like that." Wow. This is only the second time I've interacted with them, and though I suspect I was not paid fairly the first time, I never said anything to them about that. Way to disrespect me in front of my community members. I would rather just give my "CRV money" to the city of Torrance by putting my cans and bottles directly in the curb-pick up bin then deal with the current people who work there. read more

My wife brought our glass, plastic and cans. Was crowded, but she was able to redeem our recycling in a short period of time. Only suggestion is they need more bins so people can fill them up and not have to wait for bins to get empied. read more

Decided it' was time to do some recycling (thank you ants). Got here around 3pm on a Friday and lucky me I was the only person in line :) The guy that helped me was extremely friendly and incredibly eager to help! Instantly I knew I found my recycle spot in Torrance! He helped me separate everything into different categories (see pic for $). The whole process went by pretty fast and I got paid right there ($16+). Right around the range I thought I was going to get. I had more bags but couldn't fit them in my car lol. The only tiny issue I had with this place was the two guys working here weren't wearing mask most likely because it's insanely hot in that little tiny bin and they would just sweat thru the mask. Everyone were pretty social distanced (a line started to form after me) and because it was outdoor (on the side of Ralph's) the mask thing didn't concern me much. Plus he never got too close. I never really recycled in the past, I used to use Sodastream for my Seltzer water but after Bed bath and Beyond went bankrupt the refills in other places were too expensive. So I started to purchase Costco canned seltzer but with the CRV it added up. I found Sunset Recycling Center on Yelp and gave it a try. I have stopped by 3 separate occasions bringing 100 cans each time and it was so easy and smooth! The guy working there is friendly and great and was there all 3 times I have stopped by. I highly recommend this location and supporting the guy as he is extremely friendly and nice. For someone that never recycled in the past because of the hassle... give this place a try! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! This place is ripping people off. This is first time I recycle my cans and plastic bottle here. I weight the cans and plastic bottles before heading to this place. And the sign infront of the store is advertise aluminum can for $1.65 per lbs and plastic bottles for $1.30 per lbs. After I got paid, both aluminum can and plastic bottle pay out is nearly 20% under what it should be. Beware of this recycle center. I file complaint with LA Weight & Measure and the agency investigated found Sunset Recycling Center in violation. That prove my measurement was correct and I was short changed. Went today for the first time every and had a wonderful experience. Place was clean and the worker was super friendly. He helped bring baskets to my car and helped me bring them to the scale. The new attendant to this place rips you off. This is the second time I've been here with the new attendant hoping Pat would be back. I come here weekly with the same amount and with this new attendant I have received significantly less for my items. I have noticed a lot of the regular customers that would come don't come any more. He is definitely less busy and he closes down in the afternoon for an hour or so when the other attendant never did. He will also turn you away at 4:30pm when the closing time is 5p. The other attendant should be brought back or they need someone else. He was always super busy and still handled things well. He was definitely more helpful compared to this new guy. Calling the number of the site to complain or even give good reviews doesn't seem to work so I decided it was time to leave a review here. Also I'm shocked at the review below me. Is the attendant paying people to leave bad reviews about Pat or are they mistaking him for the new attendant? I'm not sure but Pat has not been here and he definitely is not racist. I've seen him help and be very friendly to all races. I've heard several ask where he is even. I come a lot and I've never seen that kind of activity being talked about in the review from Roy. After reading the 5* reviews, I took 401 aluminum cans into Sunset Recycling. At 5c per can, 401 cans = $20.05. Figuring that 31 cans = 1 lb, 401 cans weighs 12.9 lb. Sunset is offering $1.65 per pound for aluminum. If their scale had been correct, I would have received $21 and change. Instead, the guy claimed my cans weighed only 8 pounds and gave me $14 and change. If this isn't a rip-off, I don't know what is. read more
