The fair was nice and clean.... Of course it was 30 minutes after opening day opened up. I went to all the food vendors and was seriously disappointed that no turkey legs were done. I finally found one, the last row on my way out, Switts BBQ. $15 and it had great Smokey flavor but a bit overdone. This was the least expensive place. Everyone else was $20. For a turkey leg!! My Dill dog was great... $8 for a hotdog inside a pickle dipped in the corn dog mix and fried. Very good!! The last, but definitely not the least in flavor was Jordan's BBQ. I had the brisket fries fully loaded! Soooo good!! $18 Standard rides and carnival hawkers were typical with their insults for your attention. Several booths and food trucks weren't even open nor had people in them. Lots of stuff going on and something for everyone! Not the best fair I've been to but decent. read more

Needs more free drink areas its too hot. Stop up charging people for rides when they aleady paid for full ride bracelets. No one cares about the little so called sky ride it does not go that far, and they should give the money back that they charged just too ride the thing. State crap & too many people thinking there in charge of stuff or just trying too sell junk has ruined our Wilson County Fair. If someone would like too enter a small painting or drawing or pic for exemple you can no longer just sign up and enter the pièce often beloved by the little ones & older alike. Now they have too be put in a specific size card board frame no wider than a specific size "". As a reason the fair weridos state they need them too fit in there wooden holder ect. So basically the so called fair people are saying there just too lazy too make thing easy. Its okay soon they will be gone and new people can make the correct changes too fix things. The price gouging is insane!! not only do you have to pay the admission fee, but every little thing you want to do sits behind a paywall. Want to see animals and take a picture? better have some money! Want to ride the rides included in admission? Nope they are not even included! Want to eat food and get a drink? Well let's just say you pay restaurant prices for soggy unsalted fries and a wimpy 1/2 burger. Absolutely disappointed, tickets and admission should be one price, food should not cost and arm and a leg, $8-$10 dollars for one drink is something you see at Disneyworld, but no the fair can now charge that too. Had such a great time at the fair this year! There are so many shows, booths, and shopping opportunities for local businesses. Lots of animals, kid-friendly activities, delicious food, and of course games and rides. The lines for rides were pretty long, even at 9pm on a week night. Other than that I've enjoyed watching the tractor pull, hypnotist, tap dancing, and so much more over the years. I wish they could be here for longer so maybe the lines wouldn't be so long! read more

The Wilson County fair is by far the BEST fair I have ever been to. The atmosphere, animals, vendors, food, and staff are just all incredible. I can not speak highly enough of this fair. There is so much to see and do. So many new events every single day of the fair (hypnotist, dog show, cat show, derby's, pageants, cow show, goat show, a birthing barn, clogging, dancing, etc.). There is SO MUCH and something for everyone. Even though this fair is in TN there are vegan and vegetarian options. Tater cakes and toasted coconut being two of those places! read more

I was not prepared for how big of a spectacle the Wilson County Fair is, but I did enjoy myself! We came on a weeknight and the weather was perfect so there were plenty of people out enjoying the fair on this same evening. Some highlights included: -The fair food: Do yourself a favor and try both the "Walk'N Taco" which is basically frito pie. They open an individual bag of fritos (you can get a large or small) and then they pour in homemade chili and the toppings of your choice. We got everything on it. It was my favorite thing I had! We also tried a red velvet funnel cake. Folks, this is definitely no ordinary boring funnel cake. The red velvet flavor was amazing then it was drizzled with a cream cheese frosting and dusted with powdered sugar. Visually appealing and delicious! -The animals: We saw a tank with sea lions performing, Australian shepherds herding flocks of geese (honestly the best thing I saw that night), prized chickens and roosters, cattle and the biggest darn hog I had ever seen -The performances: We saw people doing the YMCA from a hypnotist's trance, a bluegrass group killing that banjo performance and a mobile puppet show -The rides: They have all the main rides like roller coasters and the Ferris wheel. We went down a large slide and that was our amusement of the night -Games: Toss a ring on a duck or throw darts at balloons to win a 5 foot monkey or a pink elephant The Lebanon Fairgrounds also have the historic Fiddler's grove which are buildings that all were moved and placed here to preserve them. We enjoyed walking around in and out of these buildings as well. They have little places to sit with white string lights which are scenic and away from the big crowds. Overall, a must for anyone who lives in middle Tennessee. This fair is bigger than the Tennessee State Fair, so you know you're in for an experience! read more

So, just to give the reader a frame of reference to how big this thing is-it's literally bigger than the Tennessee STATE fair...and it's just a COUNTY fair!? Anyway, it's just like what you would expect from a fair, so if you're expecting anything different, we'll,...shame on you:) It has every ride you could think of, all complete with questionable carnies as well as suspect construction of all rides. Half the fun of carnivals is the element of death on every ride, right? Also, the food is delicious, but so extremely gluttonous that it makes you sad after eating it,...like it literally affects your mood in a negative way? It's definitely worth going though for sure at least once. read more

This was probably one of the best county fairs I have ever been to. Admission was $12 to get in, which I felt was a bit steep but overall well worth it. You had options as far as parking. You could park at the fairgrounds and pay, or park up the road at the local high school for free and take a shuttle. Make sure to wear good walking shoes, if you plan on checking out the games and food. Depending on what entrance you choose, you are greeted by the great smell of sweets, bbq, and other treats. There were multiple options ranging from the standard corn dogs, burgers, and fried goodies. There were definitely plenty to choose from that would appeal to both the kiddos and adults. As far as games and rides go, there were plenty to choose from as well. Games on closing weekend had better deals and better chances to win. However, the typical crooked basketball rims and standard balloon popping games were plenty. This is definitely an event I recommend taking part in next time they are in town! read more

The pros of coming to the Wilson County Fair are starting to outweigh the positives, which is why I've updated my review from 5 to 3 stars. Traffic is so terrible, it will take you at least an hour to enter the fair once you're in Lebanon. I wish I was exaggerating. On top of this annoyance, my friend and I waited in line for nearly 30 minutes only to be told they take cash only - even though the vendors inside who sell funnel cakes take cards? After wasting 30 minutes, we were in line for the ATM for another 20, then came back to a line that had magically doubled. I asked the attendant why they didn't have a CASH ONLY sign, because they had plenty of signs for everything else, and her best possible response was, "Well, we talked about it." Oh. Okay. After waiting 2.5 hours to finally get into the gates, we didn't have enough time to enjoy the rides and opted to walk around instead. While I love everything else, I can no longer gush about Wilson Co. Fair liked I used to. While the crowds may not be 100% their fault because they're so popular, they certainly didn't help any when they cut back their operating days from 2 weeks to now 1. Yikes. Next time I'll just go to the Williamson County Fair. read more

Growing up in Fort Bend County, just outside Houston, I always had one day off for the county fair. However, aside from marching in the parade during high school (band nerd), I never went. So when I started dating my fiance, this was one of the first things she started saying we had to do. What can I say? For my first county fair it was and has always been a lot of fun to attend. With so much to see it is impossible not to have a good time. My favorite is all the contests they have that the residents of Wilson County enter. The photography contest in particular as I love taking photos and looking at those taken by others. All in all a great way to spend time with family and friends, while continuously having a lot of fun. read more

Fun place that we love to visit every year! Pros: Awesome event with hundreds of things to do. There is not just rides here, but shows, artists, local makers/vendors, shops, places to explore, animals, and Carnies! Cons: Prices, parking, lines... The prices on even the most basic of things such as food/drinks is ridiculous and expensive. They've started charging $6 for lemonade and $7 for a single cheeseburger with NO fries. Highway robbery. To be fair, most of the food isn't that good anyway. 99% of what you will find is deep-fried and terrible for you... (but that doesn't stop us from occasionally imbibing). -- Which brings me to another point. They do not serve any alcohol here at all. I get that there may be some sort of archaic Tennessee law preventing it, or maybe the fair folks just don't want to get the required licenses, etc. But I'll be 100% honest, a cold beer would be fantastic on some of these hot summer days at the fairgrounds! Parking and traffic are a NIGHTMARE later in the evenings. The Interstate and main roads in Lebanon become seemingly impassable when most folks head to the fair an hour or two after opening. Local's tip: Go early! Skip most of the lines, and just enjoy yourself later on as you watch everyone else stand in ridiculous lines for the most simple of tasks such as entering the fair or waiting for the ATM. My last gripe: Reluctance of 90% of vendors (including the folks who you pay to get inside) refuse to join the 21st century and accept credit or debit cards. Most everything here runs on cold hard cash. Ever heard of a square?! Every person out there had a cellphone. You can't tell me that this business couldn't pay the small transaction fee on the LOADS they are raking in charging the prices they charge for their food, drinks, rides, and park entrance. All this aside, it will not stop my family from joining the fair every year it continues. We love it, all the headaches aside, and look forward to it every single time! Go! (Just be prepared for the aforementioned things and you'll enjoy yourself.) read more

This fair is understated for Size. First of all, this fair spans so many acres you will need walking shoes! Second, wear comfortable loose clothing because their are so many food trucks its to hard not to try everything. Wife and I visited one evening and came back on Saturday for more. Traditional fair food trucks that travel with the fair, plus rides galore are standards for any fair. What was different about this one was that ALL of the locals got to bring food trucks to. Fried cookie dough, fried banana pudding, fried Oreos, Frogs legs, Shrimp, chicken on a stick, potatoes on a stick, you name it, if it can be fried someone was trying it. We went to another fair that had the fair food trucks and rides, but this one had so much more! Now, add in the fact that theirs tons of other attractions to. Want to see poor monkeys strapped on the back of a dog running around a race rack? Got it. Piglets running in a circle around their own race track? Sure. Horses turning an old fashioned grinding wheel that turns fresh home made ice cream? WHAT! Overall, we cant wait till next year to try everything else we missed! read more

This place is a great time. It has a lot of great shows that are free with your purchase of a gate ticket that you can just walk around and walk up to when they start. Lots of displays from the various competitions. The photography competition was a very impressive collection of Photos. I come from an area of rural Ohio that does a lot of farming so the general lack of a large animal presence was disappointing. Lots of your typical fair food stables. Fried, Fatty and DELICIOUS! Yes I probably sacrificed a year of my healthy life from what I ate but it was worth it. I will definitely attend next year. read more

We went to the fair Saturday (08/19/2012). My husband and I had a great time, it was literally our first fair together. There was so much people and I've never experience a fair that seem like over 100,000 people was there. It was all good and games till about 20 minutes into it. There was so many rude people. You couldn't really move because it was so crowded, and we are polite people. We'll excuse ourselves if we're in the way or apologize if we need to. But my husband had to go throw something away and had to stop and wait for people to pass him, and while he was waiting not even 5 seconds, someone from behind told him to "get outta my f***ing way". Then there was a giant plush minion I wanted so bad. He warned me that (some) carnival people are crooks. The game was "Bank a Ball" ( or was it bank a basket) and now that I look back, the carny guy knew I wanted the plush badly. So it was his chance to "milk" our money. We asked him to demonstrate the game. He threw the ball, hit the board, and it went into the basket. Seems too easy. My husband tried and tried. He finally got the ball in the basket. I was thrilled for not even a second. The carny guy said he was "bending over too much." How is that the carny guy demonstrated the throw, and saw said that leaning was ok, and saw that he was bending and missing the throw, but did not address him before he made the basket?? So we didn't win anything. My husband was angry, but did not want to cause a scene. He exchanged some words and we walked away. We'll probably go again next year, but we WILL NOT play anymore carnival games. read more

Okay, I'm rating my experience on the sole reason my husband and I went to the fair - for the FOOD! (As for the rides and games, the lines looked outstandingly long and crowded!) We had a great visit and got to sample a good bit of the local foods and flair. Find the hand pie stand and the carnitas burritos place if they return! The Wilson County Fair is FABULOUS and the weather couldn't be better. Be sure and check out the All About Dogs tent, Fiddler's Grove and King Robota. Be prepared for the traffic on Friday and Saturday but what can you expect when you have such a great a event. Everyone wants to be a part of it. If you can make it out on a weeknight, the traffic won't be such a problem and you'll still have a great time. Lots of great entertainment with just about any type of music you want. And if you get tired of fair food, check out the catfish and turnip greens at MeMe's. Mmmmm!! read more

Absolute horrible experience last night!!!!!! This is regarding the rides. The remainder of the fair was still amazing and I highly recommend it, however, the rides are poorly managed and we wasted our money on wristbands. Waited in line for two rides over two hours each. Why? Not because the lines were long, but because teen aged children continually broke lines in large groups. They were out in abundance, like roaches, spewing profanity and having no respect for anyone else who happened to be in any line. With no security and no fair workers helping to monitor and keep order, ten plus kids would consistently break lines throughout the night. We had planned to ride many rides. Bought wristbands to do so. Spent over four hours in the fair area, some lines were not even very long, until kids began breaking in them in large groups, and we were only able to ride two rides. WASTE OF MONEY. WASTE OF TIME. Those who run the fair should manage this area of their business. It was complete chaos. Ruined our night. We will not return. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON RIDE WRISTBANDS!!!!!! Those who run the fair are not concerned with maintaining any sort of order in the area where the rides are. These large groups of kids had free reign to do as they chose, and they had no respect for other fair patrons. At any other facility, they would have been removed for this type of behavior. No reputable business would allow customers to treat other customers in this same manner and the business remain viable. read more

Had a wonderful time at this fair, they had more and better of everything than I expected. Plenty of food, rides, and different displays to keep anyone of any taste entertained. We were there for 5 hours and barely saw half of what was there. Horse competitions, Pig races, Tractor and truck pull competitions, even a hypnotist who put several people in a trance and made them do funny things. So many rides I couldn't even count. This is a huge fair so be prepared for loads of walking but it is easy walking with most of the area flat. So affordable and the people who work there were very pleasant, lots of bathrooms around and lots of historical stuff, we even watched a blacksmith make something the old fashioned way. oh, the food, the food, the food! the banana jockey races! (little monkeys riding on doggies). there was also a clown there that i'm pretty sure wanted to kill me, but my husband was a stand up dude and shielded me from him, whew! but it was close. as far as fairs go, this one is super clean too. you don't feel all that dirty and yuck when you leave, and there are tons of food vendors to choose form: local to lebanon and MJ, local to nashville, and typical carnival food trucks with funnel cakes and hot dogs. read more

The fair has grown tremendously over the years but they have not done much to handle all the people. Parking is fine, but getting in or out is CRAZY! LInes for the rides are also crazy - I think they have the same number of rides, but many more people! Food is about the only thing you don't have to worry about. read more
