It is pretty much always crowded, so be prepared to stand in lines at most of the vendor booths. The lines actually feel like a plus to me, since it is well organized and clear to know who is next. Some markets feel more like a free-for-all of whoever is loudest and this way is far more comfortable for a person with social anxiety. Of course it's crowded because everything here is high quality and sold at peak freshness. There are fruits, veggies, prepared foods, canned foods, flowers, and in the late spring / early summer you'll find seedlings for home gardens. Prices aren't low but it is important to support our local food infrastructure and the flavors are outstanding. I have talked with a lot of the farmers and vendors and every one has been friendly and helpful. Most vendors I shop with here accept credit cards. I would love to see more variety, as most of the farm stands tend to have similar things - farmers, please grow more tomatillos, radicchio, hakurei turnips, artichokes, and other less-common veggies! Logistics: Streets are tight, parking is all parallel-parking on the street, and there are not enough sidewalks. The entire market is on grass. I don't think there are any restrooms. Bring a wagon if you intend to buy anything large or heavy.

It was so much fun to wander past the stalls of local food/produce/products and see all of the people out enjoying the gorgeous morning. We ate breakfast here from one of the vendors. They have a few small tables and chairs you can sit at - a lot of other people brought chairs or blankets. The vendors were varied and all local - it was really a wonderful way to start our trip to Buffalo.

Met her at an Yelp event and fell in love with the tamales and sauces. Having southern roots been hard to find a good tamale, but Natalie has nailed it. The pork and chicken tamales are delicious! Like I said the weather was not the best, but I was still surprised at how many vendors were there. Ranging from fresh sausage, fruits, vegetables, sweets, cheeses and wine and alcohol. I met a chef, Chef Scott Bernard. (Instagram goodneighborflavor) He has a stand with balavka, original and brown sugar cinnamon. They both were tasty, the brown sugar cinnamon was my favorite. He was very friendly. He told me he does catering, and four course private dinners, as well as opening a Bistro in Cheektowaga coming soon. I love going and meeting new vendors. I will definitely have to try this market in the summer, where I am sure will have way more vendors. Shop local!

It's okay. I am disappointed that vendors are not required to grow their own produce - which is…read moreclear when I see lemons with grocery store stickers and plastic containers of Driscoll's berries. Some vendors have "homegrown" signs, but many don't. What's the point of going to a farmers market and buying out-of-state produce? Some vendors have clear signage with prices, but not everyone - which makes it very time-consuming to ask lots of pricing questions if you shop on a limited budget and stressful if you don't like holding up the line. Many farmers also seem to grow very similar items. I rarely or never see things like okra, peppers other than bells, radicchio, tomatillos, purple carrots, etc. I'd love to see more variety! What do I need to do to get a decent head of radicchio around here? Most vendors only accept cash; some are starting to take Venmo now but only a few seem to accept credit cards. I wouldn't mind this except there is no signage so you have to wait in line and get someone's attention to ask at EVERY stand even before picking out veggies if you don't carry cash. There is an ATM on-site but of course it charges fees. There is very little shade and no areas to sit and rest. The one covered area is always very tightly packed with people and it is hard to walk through; I don't understand how anybody shops at the vendor tables in there. The parking lot is small, very tight, and a challenge to get into and out of - and people frequently just stop vehicles in the middle of the road and block you in. It's easiest to park along the side streets in the neighborhood - but plan ahead and bring a rolling cart to carry stuff back to the car. Finally, the market is technically year-round and happens on multiple days, but be aware that if you go during the off-season or on a Thursday that there are significantly fewer vendors and your selection will be very small. Maybe not even worth the drive depending on where you're coming from. I get it, being a vendor is hard work - I have worked at farmers markets myself - but it's something to be aware of ahead of time to set expectations so you aren't disappointed. Summary: This is one of the most stressful and least rewarding markets I've been to. I go when I want to get a huge quantity of tomatoes or apples, and otherwise avoid this one in favor of the smaller markets that require their farmers to actually grow what they sell.

Opening day I noticed the vendors below. They do expect to add others moving forward. Jolie's Chinese Traditional Food Singer Farm Naturals The House of Olives Gino's Italian Bakery Hens Honey Bee Farm Kornerstone Coffee Code Blu Juice Bar Librock Farm Arden Farm I'm thrilled there is a Farmers Market closer to where I live, and not on a Sat morning. Well done on that front. While the vendor stalls were well spaced, there was also a lot of space between them, so I look forward to more vendors coming. This is a venue that is very stroller/wheelchair etc friendly, which, if you've been to other markets around town, you know is not always the case. The 4th star is because of that. The layout is just plain easy and comfortable. Parking is street, or the BK lot, which is what we did.

I'm so glad to have a midweek farmer's market so close to home. It is my understanding that there will be an "official" opening later this month and that more vendors will be joining the market. I'm looking forward to becoming a weekly customer!

Nice new farmers market in Buffalo. Larkin Square is making itself a daily destination…read more The farmers market vendors can change weekly so check the Larkin Square website for latest info. The stalls go through the whole area so be sure to take your time and see them all. I've seen fudge, beer, Jolie's dumplings, donuts, Koops hot sauce, and pretty much everything in between. There are even restaurants here serving food. I saw Taste of India. The Gelato Gypsy was here. Three Sisters tamale stand was here as well. They got their start at Larkin. On the craft front you can find handmade soaps, nice mounted photos of Buffalo, dog treats, hula hoops, jewelry, moccasins and more. You can even join the Buffalo Historical Society here. Like I said, a little bit of everything. If you get here early there is plenty of seating, some even in the shade. Very nice. You can use the same area to eat a tamale if you want. If you are lucky live music will be playing too. But of course there is always the Larkin Square piano to play if you want. Parking is difficult but manageable if you arrive closer to 4 than 6.

I hope my fellow Yelpers had a chance to make it out to Larkin Square on a Thursday evening (between 4-7:30pm) this year to experience the Larkin Market. New this year, Larkin Square created another weekly event (Tuesdays - Food Truck Tuesday; Wednesdays - Live at Larkin; and now Thursdays - Larkin Market) so people could come on down and enjoy an evening of "social shopping." This market is perfect - in my opinion. You could grab fresh ingredients to make dinner for the upcoming week, grab some beer or wine, fresh flowers, gifts - possibly for a host, all kinds of great, quality, unique products. I also loved "Paperette" who had all kinds of paper products and some creative stationery sets. I believe she has an Etsy site. In addition to vendors with products to take home to enjoy, there's also Public Espresso + Coffee, an amazing tamale truck - Three Sisters Tamale, Ashker's handing out samples of fresh pressed juices, Duke's Donuts, a couple food trucks, and other food vendors. I seriously looked forward to Thursday evenings all summer (up until last week when it ended for the season) because I knew I could stroll the market with a cup of Public coffee, grab some tamales for dinner, and have Duke's Donuts for dessert while sitting at the provided tables and chairs. Very relaxing experience. Here's to hoping Larkin Square brings back the Larkin Market next year and while it could stand to have some more shoppers at the square, I hope it remains somewhat tranquil. The Larkin Market is a nice complement to the craziness of Food Truck Tuesdays. Bravo Larkin Square!!
