Family friendly | events year round This was my go-to when my daughter was a baby to early toddlerhood. I came here because they had fun mommy and me sessions during the week. It gave me a place to feel like I can be comfortably outside of my home and connect with other parents/caretakers with their kids. There is a good selection of books in the kids section. They have a little play area with puppets/costume play, dollhouses, Lego and train sets, a kitchen, and an enclosed outdoor area to play. Overall, they have fun events year round for everyone of all ages. There is story time, hunts, book signings, and lectures you can attend. If you're a parent and it's your first time coming here, sign your kid up for the Dolly Parton book club. You get one free book a month up until they're 5 yrs old. Lets hear it for our public libraries. Over the past five or so years, I've been a frequent visitor to three libraries: Tualatin (currently under renovation), West Linn (close to home) and Wilsonville (close to work). This library was renovated just a few years ago and has a very open floor plan and lots of room. While it doesn't have the excitement of a downtown library, it is a great resource and I've found the staff very helpful. They've helped me track down items from other branches and usually I am able to get the book, CD or movie earlier than anticipated. Nice web site to manage your account on-line. I also get a kick out of the arial photos showing how Wilsonville has grown during the last century and a gorgeous wood carved landscape hanging in the main vaulted area of the library. This branch has a large childrens' area and many programs (story time in English and Spanish) and events. Good amount of computers in both the regular and childrens' areas as well. Wilsonville was also home to Walt Morey (childrens' author/Gentle Ben), so there are a few items in memory of him. I get most of my movies here and they are usually in good condition (for some reason it seemed like the movies I borrowed from the Tualatin branch had so many scratches the movies were unwatchable). You can also borrow a cultural pass from any Oregon library that gets you in free to some of our most interesting attractions (Classical Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion and Portland Children's Museum to name a few). The things I wish were a little better were the weekend hours - they don't open until 2:00p on Sunday. I also think they have a pretty small selection of magazines. read more

For a small family city, Wilsonville Library has all you need. Lots of computer space. Lots of tables for studying/reading. A couple of study rooms. A decent selection of books with my favorite - The New Indie!! A bookstore with $3 and less books!! I'm super spoiled with California libraries which are much more elaborate as they probably get more funding, but for a city library, I'm not complaining especially if it's only a 3 min drive. Wilsonville, anchoring the south end of Clackamas County and with some undeveloped land between it and other Clackamas County communities, has an excellent library. For years, I've been wondering who this Wilson was. There's always Wiki. I doubt the tennis ball manufacturer hails from here and I don't think the creator of Dennis the Menace hails from here, either, much the same way that Edgar Rice Burroughs living in a part of the San Fernando Valley fetched that suburb the name Tarzana. I might take away half a star for the building's funkiness from the outside (read: McMansion exponential), but it is the biggest library in Clackamas County, and a hair bigger than the main one in Lake Oswego. The Wilsonville Public Library measures over 28,000 square feet according to the librarian who was eagerly answering my questions, though the librarian volunteered this information. I don't exactly go around asking "Excuse me, but how many square feet is this library?" The library is about half a mile further east from I-5 from places like LA Fitness (previously Bally's) and the Starbucks in the Wilsonville Town Center. It is in a treed, residential area. There is ample parking. While other libraries in the county have their own feel - West Linn feels cozy with its nooks and crannies and Sunnyside feels modern - the one in Wilsonville feels airy and homey. They have everything one would need. Most importantly, the level of service here is the best I've encountered in any Clackamas County library ... or any library in the tri-county Portland metro area for that matter. Lastly, upon entering the tallest of the volumes in the library, one sees an intarsia up on the wall below the clerestory windows. I didn't know what an intarsia was. It is sort of a collage, but crafted out of wood in this case. It tells the story of the Wilsonville area. It was supposedly designed by an artist known for this genre of work and assembled by inmates in the Oregon prison system, some of whom, upon being released, took up making intarsias as a living. Not only that, it is reportedly the largest single intarsia piece in the world. However, grab a book or two, find an upholstered chair, forget about Starbucks or other coffeehouse for a while, and enjoy spending some time at the Wilsonville Public Library. read more

My "home" library and a favorite place to drop in - the staff are wonderfully friendly and sometimes I stop and chat if they aren't too busy. Very pleasant. The library itself is nice, spacious, but not as large as some; the collection is good and nicely varied. The children's room is lovely; adult non-fiction is better than adult fiction, selection-wise. The artwork is gorgeous, and there are rotating exhibits of local art (varying from school art to quilts). However - the library is almost big enough to have a second story - but doesn't. They seem to have gone for architectural "cool" rather than usable space, instead of achieving both, in terms of building height. It's pretty but I wish they'd put more books in. That said, you're not short on books or other options, especially since (in addition to their collection) you can place holds for items from the entire Clackamas County system. There's a lobby, some meeting rooms, and a used bookstore off the lobby as well. As I understand it (but since I live here, haven't tested), membership would be free for anyone living or working in the tri-counties (Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah counties). read more

We especially like to browse the bookstore in the lobby. We usually find an armload to carry us through a month or so. This week was no exception. There is a drive through drop box that is very easy to access. There also seems to be more than enough parking spaces. The children's librarians are outstanding. They host multiple events for children every week and you can tell they really put their heart into it. I highly recommend the puppet shows. This library is also a very short walk (across the street) from Murase Plaza splash pad, and the adjoining Memorial Park play ground. This is my hometown library, so I really want to love it...but I don't. I remember when we first moved here, and I was excited at the huge library...until you walk inside and realize that it's only a one-story building and that huge roof means nothing. Or until you walk around and see how little space is actually devoted to books, versus meeting rooms, and staff area; so much wasted space. They also don't provide much in the way of comfortable or cozy areas to just stop and read, which is part of the joy of being at the library. I much prefer the Lake Oswego or Ledding libraries. However, the staff here is great, which helps earn stars. On the plus side, the Wilsonville library is part of the Clackamas County LINCC library system, which allows you to place holds on books, movies, anything; the item is then delivered to your preferred library location for pickup, even if the book came from Sandy, or Canby. It's like having Netflix, only it's free! We haven't paid for a movie rental in over a decade, and I love it. read more

This is my main library that I use. The Tualatin, OR library is a newer somewhat nicer library, but the people at Wilsonville Library are very helpful and (most of them) are friendlier than the Tualatin library. The WiFi is a bit slow durring busy times (but they tell me that it is in the works that they are upgrading soon). They have a great color copy / fax machine, that not only faxes and copies and prints, but also will copy to PDF file and email it where you tell it to. No other libraries have this that I have found. I use this feature quite often, especially when you need a live signature on a document. The help desk is VERY knowledgeable and friendly, and are willing to help with all sorts of technical questions, not just library related. First Friday of the month is movie night after closing, and gets a pretty good turn out. There are other events from time to time like live music, lots of children's story times, art shows and displays, etc. 4/5 Stars only for the wifi being slow during busy hours. read more

Where should I start?! I love the online catalog and being able to put things on hold from the comfort of my home. The weekly story time is awesome. My kids love that each week is a new theme and that there are songs that get them moving as well. Which of course brings me to the kids area. Nobody shhhhshs and in fact the librarians even get involved helping my kids find whatever books they can think of. A dinosaur good night book... NO PROBLEM! I love the open floor plan with lots of windows to let in the sunlight. Not to mention there is a library store where you can save a ton on books. And even free book bins. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. I wish, when I was growing-up, that the library I went to was even a 1/10th of what the Wilsonville Public Library is. My selections (from online) are always ready for me to pick-up and I love to look at the art displayed; the lobby always has a great selection of free periodicals and events information. read more

Wow - this place is humongous! I've been to a lot of libraries in my day, but this one is probably the most deceivingly large one I've ever been to. I walked in and had no idea there was so much more to it than what's visible from the parking lot. I'll be short and get to the point. The library is as everyone says, nice. The people are friendly, etc. So check out their reviews, but I just for the life of me can't figure out why the internet would be soooooo slow. It takes about 3 seconds to load a very simple website, while multimedia rich sites are not even worth viewing. I am putting this in simple terms. The connection is well under 1Mbps. Well, below. Speedtest.net showed them running Internet through Comcast Business. I waited 5 minutes for the test to begin before giving up. This is really disappointing. There really is no reason to have such poor Internet at the library. I remember once how America talked about how far ahead they are in technology. Let me fill you in. Most of Asia support 1 gig into apartments and fiber to homes for $20 month! What do you have? I know what the Wilsonville Library has and it's not that great.... Sigh...
