The professionalism in this library is on another level. The staff is always ready to help, and the study rooms make it easy for groups to work together. The entire space is clean, neat, and thoughtfully organized truly something for everyone. There's a quiet section dedicated to studying, and I can vouch for it because I'm here almost daily. We joined the Tualatin library and have had a great experience. All the staff are friendly and nice. Their parking lot is a little funky and can be busy at times. It's a shared area with the city of Tualatin. We joined their summer reading program and have enjoyed doing that as well. read more

Libraries are so much more than books. The Tualatin library has plenty of books, but it also has an incredible board game selection, it is a national park site for the ice age trail and has the best makerspace I have ever encountered. 3d printers, laser machine, glass cutter, sewing machines, soap making, candle making, robots, leather work.. And more. This is our place to go to be creative. There is a project of the month if you need ideas but go to an open lab and create! read more

A beautiful library. Friendly staff. Plenty of tables with outlets along the curved glass windows. Lots of activities going on today. Something out front involving balloons and raw eggs in cups being dropped from a ladder into a kiddy pool. Looked fun and educational. Inside you can rent musical instruments or bike kits as well as activity bundles. It was my first time at this library and it was a good visit. I'd go back. read more

"dun da la da dun dun"- Music from the vintage Build-a-Lot game. When I got to Tualatin in 5/2019, I pretty much fell in love with this place because it's so serene and quiet. This is a place where I can be safely ensconced in comfort away from anyone that gives me a hard time. I don't have to worry about anything outside of my comfort zone ruining my life including rejection emails from jobs I applied for because it's Oregon, you don't have to be rich to enjoy the state. With this library it's no exception. Everyone from all walks life in the area come here. It's a place where high school students meet to collaborate on project and where natives relax and calm down after a hard day at work. I had no issues with noisy kids who make a lot of ruckus. Of course even with the pandemic, I feel 0 stress from tough people. Note: Best not to drive if you live in the Tualatin area because the lot can fill up fast. read more

This is a fantastic local library that goes above and beyond your expectations. You can really tell that Tualatin cares about its paleontological past, since the skeleton of the Mastodon excavated in the 60's is behind the front desk. There are other exhibits of ancient ice age mammals throughout the building, each telling its own unique story. Admission to the library is free to everyone, and in addition to a wall to wall vast collection of fiction novels, there are a variety of nonfiction books available for any type of research, and of course a kids section for young readers, and even some recent comic book series. There's a comfortable reading area for newspapers and magazines reflecting current events, and several private conference rooms available for anyone who wants to reserve them in advance. Movies and video games are also available for check out, on a first come first serve basis. There are free computers to use, free WiFi, free bathrooms, and since signing up for a library card only takes a minute with help from the staff, it couldn't be easier. What are you waiting for? Another case of keeping up with the Joneses? I spent many Saturday mornings at this library before we moved last fall and it was dilapidated to say the least. The staff spent a year in a temporary space before the grand reopening of the new library and city offices last month. I finally made it back to check out the new digs, as well as some books and DVDs. So modern and spacious with soaring ceilings and large windows. What a contrast to its gloomy 70s-era brick predecessor. It was hard for me to adjust to the new surroundings and so odd to see the same friendly librarians working in five times the space. They are even installing a coffee bar in the lobby for cripes sake. When you enter, there is a large glass etching of a dinosaur and throughout the building there is this interesting mix of old and new. The city's historical artifacts are displayed next to the New Releases section. The large children's area has comfy chairs and 'Fatboy' beanbags. The teen zone is in the back corner and looks more like a lounge. I was really impressed by the mix of social areas, especially the lounge by the large fireplace and periodicals, with community rooms and more secluded reading zones. Since I spend a lot of time at libraries both on-site and on-line checking out resources, I can say that I prefer the on-line search and reserve system utilized by the Clackamas County network (West Linn, Wilsonville, Lake Oswego, etc.). Far more intuitive and clear than the Washington County system. It felt more like a community center and gathering place than a 'hush-hush' library. It will be interesting to see how the library grows and develops as the community starts to use the new facility. I sure hope West Linn and Wilsonville don't get too jealous. read more

it is pretty and has a good magazine selection, but is lacking in books. If I want a book have to request it from another library most of the time. Another great plus is the amount of seating available. I really like the chairs by the magazines. The one drawback is that it can be pretty loud for a library. read more

I love coming to this library every couple of weeks. I used to come here to do work but won't anymore because it's too dang loud! I'm not talking about just the children who run, scream and yell without their parents keeping them quiet, it's also the staff and patrons who talk in full voice. As a child of a librarian I was taught to whisper or take conversations outside. has this guideline gone the way of the dodo? The staff seems unwilling to ask people to tone it down, but since they also are loud I guess that's to be expected..Too bad they can't set an example for patrons. read more

Decent library, but it's the loudest I've ever been to. Parents who obviously have no consideration of others let their kids run rampant. Like most public libraries, people cough without covering their mouths. Loud talkers too. Three stars only for a decent book selection - at least in my opinion, but they really need to get people to act more respectful. read more

My, my, Tualatin Library - you are looking good! The library recently underwent a major renovation and it is now a gorgeous space that befits the city's growing population. It makes me proud that my hometown library is finally strutting her stuff. Although I now live out of state and the check-out process is primarily self-serve, the staff always greets me on my rare trips in and ask after my dad (who is a regular.) I'm a huge fan of public libraries - why pay for books when you can borrow them for free? Tualatin's library is fairly new and modern and clean. They have a small section of new books and plenty of regular (non-new) books and DVDs/CDs, but since they're part of the Washington County Library Cooperative, you have access to all the books in the county. You can reserve books online and they'll be delivered to your library of choice. Free Wi-fi is a plus too! But my favorite part? They're open 7 days a week. How is that possible? I moved here from San Jose, and their libraries are only open 5 days and not even full days at that. So yay for cities that value reading & community! read more

Nice library. Not as big as Beaverton but I'm not complaining. It got "Study zone" with one-person desks and built-in plugins (For your laptop, etc.). The desks are paired facing each other, though, so someone could potentially sit in front of you to break your solitude ;) This place has a large collection of Japanese anime DVDs and foreign DVDs in general.Free wifi like the rest of Washington co libraries. Parking is a little tricky. They said you can park across the street.. read more

The staff here at the Tualatin Library are very friendly and helpful. The library is kept really nice and tidy, newspapers and magazines are all current, and they have a pretty decent DVD collection as well. However if you are wanting a quiet place to study, this place isn't it! This place gets pretty loud for a library. There are 2 study rooms that can be reserved for 2 hour increments, if you want some silence for a couple of hours. But if you need more than 2 hours of silence, I recommend bringing ear plugs. There was one time where I had to "shhhhhh!" an extremely loud kid while I had my ear plugs in. The library has designated "study zones" but most people don't pay attention to the signs as it is a laminated 8.5" x 11" paper with small font that says "speak softly." read more

The issue is the parking. It has never been great. Then it was non-existent during the Cabela's build up. Now there are a bunch of really narrow slots surrounded by wasted space and the angles are terrible for pulling into. Even those marked for compacts are generally already filled edge to edge with big SUVs, trucks etc making the spaces in between them unusable. Drop box in back is impossible to pull up to. I always have to get out of my car to return books. I only go in to pick up books & do the drop box I'm so aggravated with the situation. A shame because it is a beautiful space I loved to visit. And I'm a librarian by training, so libraries are my favorite place. I think Tualatin is trying too hard design-wise to compete w/Lake Oswego.... [Hint -- that ship has sailed, taint gonna happen.] Maybe they should worry more about things like getting a new tenant for the Haggens space so the lot looks less slum-like. read more

Library may be closed till 10 am but the lobby with the restrooms is open! Just what I needed!

Always quiet, clean and staff is friendly. A good place to come and read, use the free WiFi and get some research or work done.

This is an okay library. The supposed study area (with signs posted on the wall) is not much of a study area. It also doesn't help the study desks are placed right next to the Teen book section, LOL. Just poor layout overall read more

Here's a Tigard gal writing a review for the Tualatin Library . . . what can I say? I get around. More than that, I think it's important to note that every library in the WashCo system has its gems and notsomuch(perhaps the two things lacking at Tualatin are more dedication of parking spaces for the disabled, and a better observation of quiet time, from visitors and also staff on occasion). Unlike the Multnomah library system, Washington County libraries are all basically independent of each other, so, while each library will have the obvious basic services for its public, it can program, and prioritize, as it likes. Why I like this library very much: I agree with the compliments listed in other reviews. In addition, I feel welcome at this library; everyone is extremely helpful and courteous. Not too busy to show a non-techie how to use the WiFi, or explain the layout to a newbie. Two things won my loyalty in particular: First, when the temperatures soared a few times last year, Tualatin staff evaluated the situation, and stayed open into evening hours. That lovely, cool place in which to work or enjoy a good read! Second, they take great care in managing their volunteer offerings, including tutoring. So, in short, the Tualatin Library is a lovely, uncluttered, pleasant place to be . . . not as close to the Beaverton Libraries for me (both good in their own ways--no complaints), but a very nice destination to enjoy once in a while. Also, also . . . about the occasional complaints about Tualatin, or other libraries . . .Not to discount others' feelings, but I've produced educational/outreach programs in libraries, with great rewards. These days, libraries are nothing less than community centers, where we can learn about anything, not least of all, each other.
