Disgraceful!!! OUTRAGEOUS PRICES for CRAP donuts!!! How dare this place call themselves Winchell's Donuts!!! I'm 50+ years old, growing up in the beach areas of Los Angeles, Winchell's Donuts was part of my family traditions. Donuts on weekends, donuts for sleepovers, etc... Fond traditions of Winchell's donuts (especially around Halloween) are cemented in the memories of my entire family. But this place is NO Winchell's donuts!!! FAAAARRRR from it! The donuts are a disgusting disgrace. The donuts taste exactly like what the place smells of... cheap oil. When I was last there, I got an apple fritter. My gawd, I may never be able to eat another. It was completely drenched in grease, and tasted nothing of apple. Just hot grease. After being in the bag a couple of hours, the bottom of the bag was completely saturated in grease. My daughter had a cream horn... she almost gagged when she took a bite. The pastry cream was 100% void of ANY taste or flavor. The puff pastry on the outside, rock hard, and crumbled right out of her mouth. Its as simple as paying attention to the temperature of your oil BEFORE dropping in the delicate donut batter. It makes AAALLL the difference in how much oil your product will absorb. I ended up spending $21 on 6 donuts. I will NEVER go back! How dare they rip people off charging an exuberant amount of money for a single fucken donut that tastes like shit! Are you kidding me? Their prices could be explained away if the food was phenomenal, but it was the complete opposite. They pump out sweet, after sweet, after sweet just to fill their display case. But don't give a rats ass about the quality. They need to try perfecting the simple taste of a perfect donut, before they move on to other pastries. Its not rocket science, and I hate that I have to leave at least 1 star. There should be an option to leave negative stars. Shame on this place, you are NOT Winchell's Donuts, and you never will be! The Donut House on Avenue J and Division are so far the best donuts in the AV, with the new Monster Donuts (on Avenue J and 20th W) moving in for the tie. CLEARLY this is a place only for those with impaired pallets, who have NO idea what a REAL donut is supposed to taste like. If you like the food here... cool, rock on. But if you care to see that you're being played a fool... try the 2 places I mentioned and you'll know what a REAL donut is supposed to taste like. read more

I got one of their mango drinks and it tasted like they poured a bottle of honey in it and it gave me a stomach ache.
