I'm really surprised by the bad reviews! When I relocated to the area, they were recommended and I've had stellar treatment. My fur babies have had excellent care from dedicated, caring employees. My fur babies are older and need patience and they get it in spades. I've boarded there and the facility is beautiful. My experience with the clinic has been great. And they were very, very compassionate when I had to put down a pet. They are wonderful!!! read more

We've always had 2 sets of vets for our animals: Groveport Animal Clinic for our cats and dogs and Winchester Vet Clinic for our sheep. All through 4-H, Dr Haynes would come out to our farm and provide the health documentation required for me to show them at the local fairs. He never charged me either! Instead, I'd trade him between 5 and 10 pints of the Raspberries we grew for him and his office staff. Recently, we found ourselves looking for a vet who would accept a voucher for neutering from the Advocat program and Winchester Vet Clinic did. We had never been there for our small animals but we knew that they were a good place. I made an appointment and they were friendly and told me exactly what I needed to prepare my cat for the procedure. When we dropped him off, he was petrified, but the staff was gentle and calm and he calmed down quickly. Unlike the horrible place we had taken our other cat, they were also going to keep him overnight just to make sure he was OK and so he could have pain medication (I'm feeling more and more sorry for our other cat and his experience now!). When we went to pick him up, the vet tech got us up to speed on how he did (he wasn't happy, but did fine), went over his weight and other health indicators, and then went over post-op instructions including written instructions to which we could refer. All in all, a wonderful place to bring your small and large animals alike! read more

This was one of the most unprofessional animal care service providers I have ever taken my animals to. The building was poorly maintained and had a bad smell scent throughput. The young staff was loud and obnoxious in the back of the building. The doors are very thin and you can hear every word as they laughed at the horrible service complaints of clients and boasted about the bad yelp reviews. The staff up front were decent,, but very slow when paying the bill with no sense of urgency. My animals are the sweetest things in the world and this is the only place they have been terrified to walk into. We only went once out of convenience and will not be going back. Upon requesting the updated animal records they got snippy and rude making smug comments about the newly found vet we will be transferring to. I do not trust them with my animals in the back and I wouldn't either if I were anyone else. read more

My girlfriend had an appointment today and forgot her wallet. They KEPT our dog until she made a payment. It was a simple mistake. We have been there before and never had an issue paying them. What kind of jerk does this? I'm sure they let people make payments. We were going to, and did, pay them that day. Holding someone's pet over an appointment is disgusting. I brought my 14 year old cat to Winchester Vet Clinic because she stopped eating and was acting lethargic. $268.00 later, they advised that "they didn't know what was wrong with her", and that I just had to keep trying to get her to eat and she would perk up. She didn't. I ended up having to rush her to the emergency animal clinic because I found her having a seizure on the bathroom floor. They looked at the x-rays that Winchester took, and said they were useless because they did not include the full body (which is what my receipt said that I paid for). As it turned out, my cat had a brain tumor, which would have shown up as a dark mass in a film (so I was advised), and suffered unnecessarily. I had to have her euthanized that evening, which was devastating. Unfortunately, I had taken my other cats to Winchester (including one that they did unnecessary surgery on...I should have learned my lesson then), so I hoped I could trust them. I learned quickly that I could not, and while they are very close to my home and convenient, I would rather go a further distance and see someone who actually cares for my animals. While the place is clean, and most of the staff seems friendly (not the receptionist, however), the money is what wins out in the end. I don't recommend going to Winchester Vet Clinic if you want the best care for your pet. read more

First appt: I said I needed x-rays following a Med-Vet appointment (new patient, recently moved). They said no problem. Scheduled me, I took off work. Still carside at this time - They took him in, and brought him back out, THEN told me they didn't even have a tech scheduled that day, and only did an initial exam. Took off an hour of work when I was able to take him for actual x-rays. Showed up at 7:30am as instructed. Nobody was answering the phone or the door - it wasn't relayed that I was coming. Late to work. When I went to pick him up that afternoon, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude. She told me my total, I said okay, and the next thing out of her mouth was "are you going to give me a card number?" Made another appointment to have a tumor looked at (CLEARLY trying to give this clinic the benefit of the doubt), requested surgery, was told the suggested plan was a month of antibiotics (he'd already been on 2 rounds of different antibiotics). I did 2 weeks, said it was worsening, attempted to schedule surgery, had to go to the office once in person and call twice before I could even get an estimate. At the end of the phone call I said thanks, and was hung up on without even so much as a goodbye. I will be paying DOUBLE for this surgery elsewhere, by choice, 40 minutes away, as I am unwilling to return even if it saves me $700 and a commute. read more

As a new pup parent, you always try to be extra cautious and concerned. While trimming our pup's nails, he moved suddenly and caused my wife to clip too much, making him bleed. Of course, panic set in and she didn't know what to do. With blood everywhere, fear in her mind and me at work unable to help, my wife called Winchester Veterinary Clinic. They calmed her down and talked her through a home remedy. They let her know if that didn't work to call right back in. Having never experienced this before, my wife was unable to stop the bleeding and called right back. The staff was quick to invite her come in so they could take care of him. My wife took our pup right over with his poor little bleeding paw wrapped in a paper towel. Once she entered, they quickly grabbed him and took him to the doctor. A few minutes later, our happy pup came out with no more blood gushing from his toe. They were able to pack his nail with some cauterizing powder to stop the bleeding. They were even kind enough to send extra home for us, just in case. To top it off, they went ahead and trimmed the rest of his nails so my wife didn't have to be traumatized again. Needless to say, big or small, scary or not, trust this Vet. They made us feel so much better and took care of our fur baby with such swift ease. read more

I take my 3 pets here and they've slowly went downhill. When I walk in the front desk ladies are nice, but will very often help others before me, even if I walked to the counter first, they will actually ignore me til they helped someone else. Then recently I was rushing from work to get my sick cat looked at ASAP. I showed up 11 minutes late and was told that I had to reschedule even tho I called ahead and let them know and I'm coming alittle ways away. Then I was told they do that because they only have 15 minutes per pet appointment. I usually wait 15 minutes to even be seen by the vet! 15 minutes is absolutely not enough time to truly care for a pet. I use to think they were good but really seems like they don't have your best interest at heart. Taking my fur babies someplace else!! read more

I've used winchester vet for years with my cats and my rabbits and i have seen all the doctors and they are great with at least those 2 types of animals. I brought my 5 month old pup in for her shots and the injected them under her armpits of her front legs and i have never seen that done before ive always seen it done in their rump or on their back between the shoulder blades. I say this because now my poor chihuahua wants held but i can't hold her or pick her up without her screaming in pain!! and she doesn't want to walk anywhere she struggles with going up the stairs cuz shes in pain! She is due for her booster in a couple weeks and i will not be going back with my dog! read more

These guys are incredibly expensive. I have a barn cat--literally, a cat that was born in and lives in a barn. She has long hair, and it became matted over the winter and looks uncomfortable. These guys wanted close to $200 to sedate the cat. They wouldn't do it without blood work, vaccines (cat's already been vaccinated), a $60 grooming charge (I was going to do the actual grooming) and the sedation on top of that. Highway robbery. I've used them for my dogs before, and they will charge you $40 just to walk in the door. I was sucking that up, but the $200 to clip some hairballs just lost them a client with dogs, cats, horses and other assorted animals. read more

Cannot day enough good things about the clinic or staff, if they cannot do the job they will tell who can. They will not do a job that may be a danger to the animal because of their capabilities at that particular time. If they were GP's I would have them for my doctor. Had to have my kitty of 18 yrs put to sleep. She was very sick. The whole staff was wonderful!! I felt I was amongst friends. I was very upset and the staff and especially the vet Lynn made it a very calm and peaceful experience for me and my kitty. Others have posted that they are expensive but I found just the opposite. I called a place closer to home. (my kitty hated car rides) AllPets in Pickerington to be exact. They wanted to charge me DOUBLE of what the cost was at Winchester Vet Clinic. and on my phone call to AllPets I felt as I was a nuisance because I needed to get my kitty in quickly. WVC was closing but they stayed a little past closing time to help me. Thank goodness. I am very glad I chose to go to Winchester Vet Clinic. They made a hard day bearable and peaceful for me. And it did not cost me big $$$$. I highly recommend. read more

Never do business with Winchester Veterinary Clinic. They are grossly greedy and care only about taking your money. Here is how they are trying to rip me off for $1,200 + a year for a dog prescription....... My Dog has arthritis. Winchester Veterinary Clinic themselves diagnosed the dog. Winchester Vet Clinic sells prescription Rimadyl, a medication for dog arthritis. 20 tablets are about $34.50. The dog takes two pills a day, so it is $35 every 10 days! A generic equivalent is Carprofen. It is available at Walmart, Target and many other "people" pharmacies. 180 Carprofen tablets only cost $80. 180 Rimadyl tablets cost $310. This is $230 more for the same medication every 90 days. In one year, the name brand would cost over $1,200 more at Winchester Vet Clinic. That is a lot of money, a family vacation or 5 months of my car payments! Now, Winchester Vet Clinic will not give me a prescription to take to another pharmacy. The incredibly rude receptionist made up a bunch of lies. Folks, if you can decide what pharmacy to get a child's meds from, you can sure decide for your dog too. If I want to get this at Walmart or Target, or mail in, that is my business. Imagine your own "people" doctor would not give you a prescription and insisted on filling it themselves at 5 times the cost of the pharmacy. Would you stand for that? Save yourself rude treatment and being ripped off for thousands of dollars and do not go near this place. Greedy, self centered, rude and deliberately difficult, willing to make up farcical stories to take your money. read more

Took our cat in for what we found out to be, a UTI. The staff was excellent, the place was clean, and i couldnt complain about a thing. They even recomended a vet to follow up with in a few days, My cat responded well to the medication, and everything was fine from there on... The only reason i didnt give this place a 5 was because it was a little pricey compared to other places, What should have cost $300-350 was $500 out the door. But i guess you cant expect cheap from an ER vet. read more

We had brought our 10 year old Dachshund, Patches in back in November. We found out he had a large tumor growing inside of him and that our time with him was limited. On December 24th we brought him in to have him put to sleep. It was one of the most difficult and heart breaking things we have ever had to do. The staff and doctor was so compassionate and we are so thankful for how well they treated us and Patches. We had him cremated and picked up the box with his ashes today.(12/31/13). We were so surprised with the special gift that we were given with it. More tears were shed, but so thankful with the care we have received there and will be bringing all of our pets for care/treatment in the future. read more

My three legged kitty, Mr Tub Tubs, gets urinary tract infections about once every 6-8 months. It usually starts the same, squatting in the litter box, crying in pain, and him going to the vet. 8 months ago, he was rushed to an emergency vet clinic and it was touch and go for about 12 hours. After resolving his serious infection with pain meds, two weeks of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and prescription cat food, we were on our merry way. Fast forward to December 26th, coming home from work early to find that Mr. Tub Tubs was again showing the same behavior as the other times, I knew I needed to get him in somewhere ASAP. I decided rather than taking him to the emergency clinic again, I would try and find a new veterinary office that would be able to take him as a new patient. My husband and I called around and I was able to get him an appointment at 5:00pm with Dr. Jennifer Raidiger-Zarbaugh. I wasn't really sure what to expect considering he had never been seen at this office before, and I only had limited records from his last emergency vet visit. The veterinary assistant who first greeted us upon entering the examination room was extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable. I explained his history, the symptoms he was displaying, and she was very attentive to what I was telling her. When Dr. Jennifer came in the room, I knew we had found our new vet. She was extremely likable from the beginning, very friendly, and down to earth. After doing a quick check-up she took Mr. Tub Tubs back for an ultrasound and urine analysis. It was so nice being able to have test results within 15 minutes and not having to wait by having them send off somewhere to a lab. After the results came back it, it was discovered that he did in fact have another UTI infection with Struvite Crystals present. (Oh Joy!). She prescribed the Clavamox antibiotics and the Metacam for pain. She informed me of another prescription cat food that is known to help break up the crystals, prevent them from forming, while also increasing the water intake; which I ended up switching to and now can tell a pretty large difference in the amount of water Mr. Tub Tubs is drinking. Overall, I'm extremely happy and satisfied with the concern and care I received on such short notice that evening. The entire staff has been extremely nice and easy to work with during the entire process. We had a slight hiccup with a dosage of antibiotics but it was quickly resolved and Mr. Tub Tubs is feeling so much better; running around the house like normal. It's wonderful finding a vet clinic that has extended hours after 5:00pm to accommodate my work schedule, and where the workers are genuinely nice. Although it's never fun having a sick animal that is in pain, I'm happy to know that I can atleast get him taken care of in a quick and timely manner. Mr. Tub Tubs will have a follow up appointment in two weeks or so to make sure the antibiotic completely killed the bacteria causing him pain, which makes me feel even better seeing as how this often times turns into a reoccurring problem! read more

These guys are the best you can get! For years they've taken care of our dogs through various surgeries and helped us adopt our crazy dog Sunshine (Sunni). Last year my boss started brining his dog Sabo down from Clintonville and is very happy with the family atmosphere. I am new to the area and found this vet online. I thought my 15+ year-old cat might be having problems breathing, so I called and explained to the receptionist what was going on and asked if I should make an appointment. She told me if it was an emergency, to bring him right over. I did, and they got me right into a room with someone. The staff was friendly, the vet was kind, and I was asked if I would like x-rays instead of being guilted into additional (unnecessary) tests at other vet clinics. I like that they take in cats and dogs to keep at the clinic--I think that is a sign of compassion. I expected the visit to be considered an emergency visit and to be charged an obscene amount--my choice, so that's fair--and I was charged a measly $38 for the visit. I have had to pay much higher for just walking in the door of a vet clinic. I was very, very happy with my experience. read more

This place is a nightmare and total BS. They took my cat, wouldn't let me hold her down or console her, injected her with something before they even told me what it was and I was stunned. I would NEVER recommend this place and I will certainly never ever go back. No vet I have ever been to has been as cold as the vet and vet assistant/tech were at this place. Save yourself from the lack of true care and explanation, as well as fear and trauma and go to The Cat Doctor on the corner of Schrock Rd. and Cleveland Ave. It's worth the drive and you won't face being treated like an ignorant person there, like you will at the Winchester Veterinary Clinic. Definitely STAY AWAY from this place if your pets are your family!!! They will not be treated as such here. I rate them with no stars, but this site is forcing me to give them at least 1 and I don't agree with it. They are a big, fat zero in my book. read more
