Our hamster had what looked to be an infected eye and was losing weight, so we called this vet. This is one of the very few vets that see "exotic rodents" and we were lucky enough to book an emergency appointment for the next day. Sadly, our hamster's eye infection turned out to be much worse. The vet told us our options and we ultimately decided to put her down. It wasn't easy, but the staff were immensely helpful with every step. They were so supportive of our decision and explaining what would happen to our hamster. We decided to have a private cremation and although it's a little pricey, we were blown away by the quality of care. We not only received a patch of her fur, but also a beautiful wooden box containing her ashes, a book that held a clay block with her paw prints alongside a place for a photo, and an ink paw print. They also gave us pamphlets on how to deal with grieving and the loss of a pet. A week or so later, we got a card in the mail saying "Wishing you peace." We're so thankful for their kindness. This vet was farther away than expected, but 100% worth the drive. We will keep them in mind for future animals. read more

Unfortunately we didn't find them until our dog was near his time to pass but I'm so thankful we did because Dr. Logan provided us exceptional care. She came to our house for a home euthanasia and she couldn't have been more informative, comforting and professional about the whole situation. She explained things very clearly and provided us with the information we needed to make the best healthcare decisions for our dog. We never felt pressured or rushed. I had visited the vet before I moved out to California to get my kitten at the time looked over and some meds for the long car trip and they were fantastic. That was in 2017. In the 4 years since, apparently some things have changed: 1. I got a black lab in august and was looking forward to going back to them. I got all my girls shots and everything with them and then I had some issues with a possible parasite. I took in a stool sample and this is where the first issue began. I had to wait a week with no call back and then called them. When I called them they told me that everything was clear and I was relieved and then said I was worried because it looked like in the sample that she had eaten like two cups of rice (which I'm assuming it was) and they said, "oh hold on." Put me on hold and come back and say, "you didn't mention anything about rice or possible tape worm". I did about three times when I called them to bring in the sample. All they had to do was open the bag and look and they would see what I'm talking about there was no microscope needed. They then proceed to tell me that the bill for the tape worm medicine would be $23. I'm put on hold again. I then get back on the phone with them and they run my debit card and I see the charge come through on my phone and it's for $45ish dollars. I asked why it was double and they said well the flea and heart worm medicine that she's on monthly is that much. I said right but this is $23 you just told me. "I didn't know that's what we were doing I'm so sorry." We literally had just spoke about it 30 seconds before she ran my card. Annoyed, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. 2. I called in to have my pups spay schedule. We messaged on the app a few times and I told them the date that i wanted out of what they gave me. I get a message back that will book it. I then get another message saying that they are sorry but they actually gave that date away already and I will need to schedule for the following week and they will put me on a cancellation list. I was never called (but told they get cancellations often). I am trying to get her spayed before her first heat. 3. Her spay day finally comes and She gets sick at the vet supposedly and it has blood in it. $600 later and almost forgetting to give me the diet medicine that I just paid for, we rescheduled for 2/1. 4. Today, January 6th, they call me and tell me that because she's 50 pounds she's too big to just have one doctor do her spay and that now it will be more than the original quote that was given to me and only one doctor was going to do it on the 28th. Because they need two doctors we will now have to push it out to the 6th of February. I finally decided to voice my concerns, annoyance and anger with them to the woman who called. She said she'd forward my concerns. 5. The "managing vet" finally calls me and says that she checked with the surgery doctor and that she is confident based on my body body structure she would be able to do it by herself and so it wouldn't be a surprise charge later. She then informs me that this dr only does surgery on Friday and we need to push to date back again. Time number 4 of pushing it back. In short, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing anymore and it seems like they are more out for the $$$ than caring for your pet. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

I could write about how much I love Norton Road for days. Long story short, I had a horrible experience at a different vet. The other vet told me to euthanize my newly adopted dog that was showing some behavioral issues. I did not do that (of course) and turned to Norton Road who came recommended to me by my dog's trainer. Dr. Jew is an angel on earth. He was so patient with me when I got upset recalling the incident with our first vet. He explained everything in a way that was so easy to understand. Dr. Jew had concerns about my dog's hips and ACL so we were referred to OSU Orthopedic. They determined that my dog has hip dysplasia and started him on a new treatment regimen. He is doing exceptionally well now. Not only is Dr. Jew kind and caring but so are all of the techs and support staff I have encountered. The appointments always start on time and there is very minimal time spent in the waiting room. Plus the prices are reasonable from my experience. I am so grateful for this office's compassionate care towards my dog whom I love so much. read more

This is hands-down the best veterinary practice I've ever been to. I recently had to say goodbye to my Lucy that I've had since she was a baby and I've had for 13 years. We tried several options towards the end, always keeping her comfort and also my budget as top priorities. The day I had to say goodbye was one of the hardest days of my life and the sincerity and kindness of the staff was unbelievably real. I will never forget that when we were saying goodbye the staff was huddled around us and some were even crying along with us. Do not go here if your pet has to be seen urgently. I have been waiting for over an hour in the parking lot with my dog to be seen, and have yet to even get checked in! Unless you have an appointment (which is hard to come by if you need to address an illness/injury) expect to wait over an hour for a drop off exam. I cannot say enough about how great this practice was. I called in, as a very worried bunny mama, and they took my concerns very seriously. The receptionist was very kind and reassuring. When I arrived, everyone greeted me and my pet. They made scheduling an emergency appointment super easy. The appointment was very informative. My bunny was very nervous but the dr and techs handled him very gently and made him feel very comfortable. Dr. Logan was phenomenal and I could tell as a first-timer that she has all animals best interests at heart. It is hard enough to find practices that will see rabbits, but this one is top notch. My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has had an array of issues in his small lifespan of 3 years and since the very beginning he has been treated at Norton Road Vet. The two doctors, Dr. Borders and Dr. Logan are terrific at caring for him and ruling out any problems and prescribing the best treatment. They understand that caring for your pet can be costly so they work hard at making sure that the tests they would like to perform are necessary. I trust them to not take advantage of me, they really just care about Carson. The vet also has boarding services that are super reasonable. I have been keeping Carson with a pet sitter for years but she is now moving away. I plan to keep him at Norton Road Vet next time I plan to leave town. I can't recommend this practice enough. Moving to a new area, we were worry about a new Vet for our Dingo. While driving around we saw Norton Road Veterinary Hospital and I stopped in. First of all, staff were so friendly and understood my concern with my 6 year old dog Dingo. He has cataract on his right eye and at times sudden moves on his blind side makes him Skiddish. Dr. Jew was so patient with the young lady that was helping him, and he spent more time asking questions of my concerns about Dingo, than what he already knew about my dog. He made sure I understood everything in how to deal with my Dingo's allergies. They were concern about Dingo being skiddish, HOWEVER as a professionals, they never showed it. I'll admit I was a little bit nervous taking my new dog, Milo, in for his first vet appointment. When I adopted him at the end of February, he was about a year old and VERY energetic (typical chocolate lab). As soon as I arrived, the staff at Norton did everything they could to make the visit go as smoothly as possible. I had to fill out new client paperwork, and they let me use a small side appointment room so I didn't have to hold onto my dog's leash and try to fill out papers at the counter. Dr. Jew was great with Milo! He and the techs all had treats to keep Milo busy as they did the exam, and they even brought in a Kong filled with peanut butter (after making sure it was ok with me) to keep him busy while they discussed various things with me. Dr. Jew and Rebecca both also gave me fantastic training tips! Since then, they have been so wonderful working with me on various health issues Milo has had (allergies, parasites, etc.). Lori and Hannah both were so great following up to see how Milo was doing and getting the meds I needed the same day I called in. I would highly recommend this vet hospital for anyone looking for a place that excels at customer service, that genuinely cares about your pet, and that focuses on low stress handling techniques. read more

Finding vets is easy for dogs or cats, but for rabbits? It's a little more complicated. Thankfully, Dr. Borders is one of the finest rabbit specialists I've ever known. She's actually a rabbit dentist (!) but is also well qualified to handle any other issues your bunny might have. The other vets on her staff are really proficient too. For us personally, Norton Road has become our family doctor, far more than my own primary care. We've gone to them with everything from spaying to funeral arrangements, through good times and bad, and they've never stopped caring about us. Vets and staff are caring and sensitive, and no matter how busy they are, they treat every bunny like their main concern. And they can handle just about anything. While sitting in the waiting room, we've heard the bleating of potbelly pigs and the curious chatter of birds. Whatever your pet might be, Norton Road is probably your best bet. We're so thankful to have them. read more

Where do I begin with this establishment. First off if I could give this so called "Hospital" a negative -100 rating I would. After 14 years of bringing my cat to this facility, the nightmare that I never thought my pet would experience began on Nov 9th 2020. On what would begin as tests prior to my cat's stone removal in her bladder that required surgery, she was given the green light to proceed with having them removed on Dec 9th. After my cat was kept overnight after surgery (unattended) she was released back to me the next day. Within 9 days she suffered weight loss and by day number 10, would not eat nor drink. Frantic I called about the issue she was having and was told that Dr. Logan was "Too busy" to see her. My heartbreak having my pet's eyes look up at me asking "what did I do to deserve this"?....What is wrong with me?...I went to helpless, sick and down right WHITE HOT about the attitude and carelessness I experienced from this place. I rushed her to the local emergency hospital whereas the surgeons their had her in ICU for days making corrective surgeries requiring them to re-enter the area due to infection that set in. No Doctor or really anyone would want to have to go back in behind anyone's work. To date my cat is recovering, but after I had to spend over $10k in follow up surgery and care there is absolutely no way on earth I would ever recommend this "hospital" for anyone's pet. In closing I would be extremely careful, whether you would be new to taking your pet here, or even if your a long time patron of this facility my advice would be check out all the employees and Doctor's background. How long have they practiced veterinarian medicine? How long have they been at this location? When did they graduate? and so on. And also confirm who will actually be doing the surgery. Make sure the Doctor will not just pass the procedure off to be done by some associate that may have very little to no experience in what surgery will be done. read more

I take my chinchilla and rabbit here, and they are great with small animals. There are several vets at this office, and more than one will take 'exotics' on, and they've all been very nice and knowledgeable. They do the full exam with me in the room, which is something I truly appreciate at a vets. Their prices are also very reasonable. I would like to thank the Norton Road Veterinary Hospital staff for all the support given to me through the last 15 years. I met Dr. Borders in July of 1998, shortly after she graduated from vet school. I liked her right away. At that time she identified a heart murmur in my dog, when my established vet had never heard it during the many years he was treating my dog. Shortly after, in 1999, I started going to Norton Road with all of my animals. I met Dr. Logan then and was very pleased to see Dr Borders join the team shortly after. The Norton Road staff have seen all of my animals for well care, illnesses, health conditions, and emergencies since 1999. They have helped me through a Cocker Spaniel with a heart condition (who lived a lot longer than expected because of their excellent care), a Golden Retriever with cancer and severe allergies, a 2-week old abandoned kitten who is now thriving, a cat with diabetes, a cat with urinary problems who had surgery, and two cats with gum issues and surgeries to remove most of their teeth. They have also been very compassionate and supportive when the end of life has come for my past animals. They are always upfront and honest, even if it was something I did not want to hear. They even recommended that I go elsewhere for a surgery that they could have done, but they knew that MedVet was more familiar with the surgery, so suggested that I go there. I completely trust the vets and support staff at Norton Road. I will continue to take my animals there and always recommend them highly to anyone. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and just plain awesome! read more

I took my cat Smokey in to be seen Monday when they opened, because he had gotten sick the night before. He was with me up until 2 am. and he was fine. He got sick on something and he was dehydrated. When I got there they took me right in and took his temp. They told me that they should do blood test and other test at a cost that was way beyond what I thought was reasonable. I told them that I would much rather the Dr. look at him first before I agree to the test that they wanted to perform. It was 8:45 and they told me the Dr. wouldn't be in until 9:45. I told them I would be willing to wait for the Dr. After fifteen minutes, all of a sudden a male Dr. showed up and looked at him just briefly and told me that he thought test should be performed in order to see what was going on. He really didn't check his stomach or anything other than his gums. To me he made me feel like he wrote him off. I asked what were my options. They came in not even 5 minutes later and gave me two quotes, one was for test to be performed that range from 1000.00 to 1300.00 and possibly more to see what is going on with no guarantee the he wouldn't have to be put down anyway. The other quote was for putting him to sleep, which was upwards of 200.00. I told them I would think about it and they told me to take my time, there is no rush. Not even 5 minutes later, she comes back in to see what I wanted to do. I told them I needed more time. She said no problem and left only to come back in 3 minutes later. I felt at that point that I was being pressured to make a snap decision as to what I wanted done. I told her I was going to take him out of there. She said he was in pain and it wouldn't be humane to do so. I had him put down and regret it. I should have taken him somewhere else for a second opinion. This hospital is only about the bottom line MONEY MONEY MONEY. VERY DISSATISFIED! read more

i had my puppy in because she was sick i found out she had parvo which i some what knew they wanted to charge me 1300 for her care which i could not afford but they told me that can can keep her for 48 hours to get her strong enough for home care i was told they were 24 hour but they were not i spent 600.00 for 2 days of care which only got 16hours of care and the rest they were closed but they charged me for the 48 hrs long story short i took her home she was getting worse than better and she died a day later from the parvo .she could have had a better chance if they cared about saving her life more than how much more money we can get out of you which the money i spent was told would help here get better which made her worse read more
