I love this place. First of all, it's the cheapest full-size supermarket around. And by a good amount. I left with a very full cart for under $200 (AKA 3 days' rent). And I probably left ~$10 savings on the table by buying the brands I preferred. The store is never a mess and the people working here are consistently good. It feels like a "we're in this together" kind of environment where we want to buy groceries and the workers seem to want to facilitate that, and then everyone goes on with their lives. I can say for 100% certain that this is the least financially predatory supermarket I know of. Produce is the biggest example. When stuff is in season, you can tell they buy a ton of it and try to turn it over fast and cheap. Very good quality limes were $0.25 today. I don't even think bubble gum machines cost that much anymore. But I also worked in retail and can tell they do the same with dry goods as well. They look for good deals like we do, and instead of using some complex algorithm that gets their CEO an extra million, they just make sure they're making enough money, and if they are, they often give people the opportunity to buy stuff cheap. The loyalty programs at other stores will never earn my loyalty like a grocery store operating in a neighborly way will. read more

Watch out! Pricing can be sneaky and unfair, with sudden astonishing price increases on some products that make them much higher than at other supermarkets, even expensive ones. Customer service completely unresponsive. I feel cheated. read more

Something disturbing happened in the self check out today. A mother and her small baby were using this, she obviously had to many items but, her baby was in distress so she was obviously trying her best to leave quickly, when a clerk told her she needed to take her items and move. There was a woman across from her with way more items and proceeded to bully this mother, I stepped in and did what should have been done, I held that baby so mom could work quickly to resolve this issue. If someone is in distress help them Don't add to it. Shame on your handling of this. read more

This is a long review, but I think it important for people to see this information. People who know me know that I don't leave reviews unless I have used a business for many years, and I have shopped at this Winco Foods store for literally decades (all the way back when this store was known as Cub Foods). And while I normally leave reviews when I have something good to say, this time (like when I left the reviews for Animal Control in Vancouver not helping with the raccoons in our area that have been killing pets) it is a bad review that I feel customers need to see. As I said, I have shopped at Winco for decades, and I have always received an excellent experience, until recently, and while I am not sure if it is because of new management or employee turnover, in the past couple of weeks I have had a couple of really bad experiences at this store. Here is what happened. A couple of weeks ago, after always having a great shopping experience for decades at this store, I brought two of my granddaughters to this Winco store with me, and like I always do (because I am disabled - severe problems with my spinal cord), I allowed one of them to sit on my lap as I obtained a mart cart and started into the store. Just as we were starting to go into the store an employee that I have never seen before (she was working the self checkout area) came running (literally) up to me and started yelling at me (literally yelling, which drew the attention of every customer in that area) about how I was putting my girls in danger by allowing one of them to sit on my lap (which they love to do) while I drove the electric cart. I tried to tell her that no one has ever told me that in the past when I have done this, she made another scene, turning around and walking away from me saying "Whatever", and then started talking to other people about how I was putting my girls into danger and that I didn't care. I have never been humiliated like this at this store, ever. So we got our food, and at the checkout all I wanted to was leave because there were still customers staring at me. My granddaughters were upset as well, and they told the cashier that they were upset at the lady who was mean to me. Example - I was so upset that my granddaughters had picked out a birthday card, but they didn't grab the envelope, and after ringing it up the cashier suggested to them that they go back and grab an envelope for the card, however, when they went to do that, they could not find an envelope for that card, so they picked out another card. So the cashier rang the second card up, and because I was so upset and just wanted to leave, I told her to not take the time to credit me for the first card, and that I would just pay for both cards, even though I only received one of the cards. As a matter of fact, this cashier has know me (her words) for 20 years at that store, and she felt really bad about what happened to me, and she told me so. All I wanted to do was leave because of how upset me, and my granddaughters, were over what had happened. So, that was the first incident, but the next one happened yesterday, and it was almost as upsetting as the first incident. I brought my boys to Winco yesterday, and when we got back out to my SUV to load up the food and leave, next to my vehicle was a huge rat! The body of the rat was a good 8 inches alone, not counting the tail, and we had a hard time just getting into our vehicle without the rat going after my boys. I took a picture of it so that I could prove that it was there. So, after securing my boys in my vehicle, I went back into the cart area to inform the employee there that there was a rat, and after telling him about it, he looked at me and said, "Oh well, I will tell someone about it.", like it was no big deal! I used to work in the administration of the Tacoma/Pierce County Heath Department, and I can tell you that it is a big deal to have rats going after customers in the parking lot, but like I said, this employee acted like it was no big deal, like it is normal at this store now (I have pictures of the rat, but I cannot get them downloaded. I have a new phone - cricket android - and it is the worst cheap phone on the planet!!!)! Like I said, I don't know if these incidents are due to new management at this store, or employee turnover, but I do know that these incidents have never happened to me at this store (or any other store) in Vancouver before, and I wanted to share them so that anyone who reads this can make up their own decision about this store. The employee acted like I was putting my granddaughters in danger, and yet, they now are not concerned about rats in the parking lot going after kids, and to me, it is wrong. Just wanted to share. Have a great day, and watch out for your kids when they are in the parking lot, because rats carry disease, and if they bite one of your kids, then they could get very sick, and obviously, the employees don't care. Stopped in here since I was in the neighborhood, and was impressed with this location. It is larger than most I've been to, and has an accordingly larger selection. Notable here are the deli-made take-and-bake giant calzones. They're a veritable bargain, and taste a lot better than I'd have expected for their low price point. The groceries are fresh and full, the employees are welcoming, urgent, do not mess around and are pretty patient with the rest of us. The prices on most of the groceries are still pretty reasonable and some of the lowest in price compered to some places. Winco advertises as being a 24-hour establishment, but that doesn't include their restrooms, which were blocked off and closed until 7 am. When I walked in, I needed to use the restroom, but I was told I couldn't. I went forward with my shopping, only to find two large crates of inventory that were in front of what I was trying to access and I had to wait for someone to move one of the crates so I could access what I was shopping for. Next, I had to wait through a line of 15 people with only one checker. I came in for only two items, and it took 20 minutes to get in and back out the door, all while holding it and nearly urinating myself. I will not be returning. read more

They had everything on our list and like most shoppers, we picked up several items that were NOT on the list. . Store was clean and employees were pretty friendly like most of their businesses. It is noon on a Tuesday and there is 3 lines open. The lines are over 10 people long on all 3 lines and they just closed one of them causing lines to jam even more. To have 3 employees checking when there is a store full of people is unacceptable not only to the customers but also your corporate rules. My family comes here a lot, you know why? To avoid big corporation greed....But yesterday that's exactly what I saw here. On the way out into the parking lot after paying, I witnessed three grown men tackle and almost beat a man up for theft yesterday. The man was tackled to the ground by three men, with one "wanna be cop" holding his cuffs in his hands and motioning at the already detained man that he was going to punch him in the face. (With his cuffs looped over his fingers) he didn't do it, there was a huge audience and he was on film at this point and another man stepped in to help. (A customer...not one of the many people working there making things worse) This man stole snacks or something from winco, they proceed to tackle him with three grown men, and an additional winco worker standing over as well. Not only did this rile everyone around up but it could have escalated much worse. I won't be back to this winco ever ever ever again. Human lives do matter before silly stolen "snacks." And clearly that was missed by your abusive lost prevention team. Lost all my business. Haha kinda ironic that Winco lost business in the end anyways. I had the worst customer service experience at the Winco on Andresen. I've been shopping at Winco stores since I was 18 so like over 30+ years. I typically go to Winco in Orchards and have had great customer service. But on this date I went to the Andresen Store. I had my little fur baby Lola with me. I've never had any problems bringing her into a store as I typically have her in my purse. I wasn't aware that they can't be in the cart. I preceded to be approached by a security guard and an assistant manager (Garrett) who claimed to be the manager. He harassed and argued with stating an emotional support animal isn't a service animal. I walked towards customer service holding my dog and ditching my cart as I couldn't do both. He followed me and jumped into a conversation I was trying to have with customer service. I just wanted the name of his supervisor. He stated he was the manager (which he's the assistant manager). Mind you this entire time he's two feet from my face and we are in the middle of a global pandemic. This entire thing could have played out completely differently. Tried out this winco and have come back, bypass the Fred Meyer and Walmart near my home to come here. They were able to cash a check for me when Walmart was tripping (their system rejected the check when they had cashed them before.) It's open 24/7 and they have a pretty big bulk area, with a nice deli that puts out precooked meals that are fresh and good. My kids like to go here and it's just a grocery store. read more

There are a handful of nice employees at the Andresen location in Vancouver, WA. I usually go in with a positive attitude. I went in on 1/18/2022 and was getting ready to checkout at the self-checkout. A woman was working there with short grayish hair. I am sure she is of Russian descent as she has a strong accent. I only say this because I don't know her name, and it's the only description I can give. As I went to the self-checkout, where there were hardly any customers, this cashier turned me away and embarrassed me in front of other customers. She told me, actually yelled at me I had too much stuff. She then yelled, "15 items or less; you have much more than 15". Folks, I had 16 items, to be exact. I always use self-checkout to avoid the 65% misery amongst the staff. I rarely ask for help because most of the staff looks unapproachable. Keep in mind that the self-checkout says, "about 15 items"! This woman (cashier) has been rude on many occasions and needs to practice customer service. Companies abuse the current narrative with democratic state mandates and treat their customers like crap. Just remember, with any business, if you lack customer service, you can go out of business just like all the other grocery chains before you. There is always room for improvement and better companies waiting in the wings to start up. I want an apology! I did not disrespect this woman. I live off of respect and treat others how I want to be treated. Perhaps she may need a Human Relations class; it does wonders. read more

On the weekdays after working hours the store is packed and the lines are long, but I have witness them opened up lines to try to accommodate quickly. I was just in there and got a couple of things through self checkout. And as I was walking out I see one thing of toilet paper because once again people have ransacked the aisle and depleted what was there. So I grabbed it and went back into the self checkout line. While I was in the self checkout line a guy catches eyes with the worker from self check out and she lets him check out in a separate checkout lane. I walk towards her register and she says "I can't". I told her I had ONE item and she still insists "I can't". So I stayed in the long line and then to find out that she takes another guy that wondered over there. But I thought she "couldn't"? This really pisses me off because that is complete inconsistency with Winco employees and Winco as a whole. I didn't catch her name, she's some Asian lady that usually ALWAYS works at the self check out. At first I thought she knew the first guy since they nodded to each other like they did but then she took the other guy, so who knows. I spend a lot of money here, money not EBT and used to go to Fred Meyers but since I moved closer to Winco, I've been going to Winco. I will gladly be making the trip back to Fred Meyers so that I don't have to deal with the inconsistent employees at Winco. I hate shopping at WinCo stores. My first visit to a WinCo store was about a year prior to this review. Since that time I've visited their stores maybe 3-4 times over the course of the year. My experiences have always been negative. I had vowed not to shop there again, but it was 4:00 AM, I was awake and craving Diet Coke (I'm addicted to the stuff and was out of it), and they were the closest grocery store that was open. WinCo's main claims to fame are that they have the overall lowest prices in town (they generally do) and they are open 24 hours (most grocery chains aren't). Based on my experience, here's my advice - don't shop there. But if you must, then don't go after 11 PM or before 7 AM. It's an obstacle course. The stockers are everywhere. Yes, this is what one should expect at this hour, but compared to other 24-hour chains (QFC, Walmart) the stockers at WinCo are in a league of their own. Aisles are frequently completely blocked off, or they are blocked off at one end (and they are loooong aisles). It can be a gamble picking up items, if they are in one of the fully blocked aisles. You take your chances late at night. They may have what you want, but you just can't get it, if the aisle is closed. The place is like a spruced up Costco with better variety. Unlike Costco, they do have signs on the aisles telling you what can be found there. But, the signs are forest green with white lettering (poor contrast) and are only in the middle of the very, very long aisles. So, unless you have really, really good eyesight, you have to walk down an aisle far enough to read the sign. And unlike the competition, you bag your own groceries here. I'm fine with the concept of bagging your own groceries for substantial cost savings, but just don't try this alone. If you shop alone and buy more than a few bags full of groceries during the day, and early evening, you risk holding up the line (at which time, you will have to suffer the embarrassment of having one of the employees getting annoyed and coming over to assist you). In such an environment, you'll stand out like a sore thumb. If you're planning on buying more than a few bags of groceries, you really need to bring someone along to help you bag, You can avoid this checkout predicament, by shopping late at night, but then you have to contend with wrecking crew. Another Costco comparison - limited selection of products. Yes, the store is huge and yes they do have a lot of stuff (certainly more variety than at Costco), but still, it's quantity over variety. You'll find better variety elsewhere. For example, I've been able to buy Oscar Mayer (a major brand) Hard Salami at Safeway, Fred Meyer, Albertsons and QFC (I'll never shop at Walmart, so I can't speak to them but I'm sure they carry it too), but it's nowhere to be found at WinCo. This isn't just a one time out of stock thing. They don't carry it, period. I've looked (and asked) for it every time I've visited over the past year. I've run across this with several other items as well, but this one in particular stands out. Noe then, if you want Oscar Mayer Bologna, they've got 5 times as much as you'll find at the competition in a variety of package sizes. The savings are just not worth the hassle of shopping here. You'll usually spend more elsewhere, but not that much more, if you shop smart. read more

I've been a grocery shopper at Wincos for a few years now, ever since moving to the Pacific Northwest. Wish we had them back in Colorado, because they're amazing! Is their selection on certain things limited? Sure! But if you're working with the kind of budget I am, where you have to be very careful not to waste a cent of your money for food, it's an incredible deal. Meat choices are much more plentiful than some of these other reviews indicate. I've more often than not had the problem of too much variety than too little! The produce is pretty good too. I don't get much fresh produce because I can only use so much before it goes bad, but when I do get it, Winco isn't half bad for it! Is it the best on that front? Well no, but it's not supposed to be. The thing about Winco is that its geared towards low income folks like me. We're the ones who benefit by FAR the most from access to such a cheap grocery store. I can spend fifty bucks at Winco and get far more than I ever could at Fred Meyer or Safeway or Albertson's. Especially the bulk foods section is amazing because you can get so many things in just the right quantities you need, without having to pay ridiculous prices for pretty packaging and colors. Winco has also introduced self checkout stands in the last year or so, so you can get out quickly if you have to! I usually have to go through the regular checkout because I don't get to shop very often, so I buy in bulk when I do. The only frustrations I have with this location aren't even their fault. It's often crowded, but that's a sign that a business is doing something RIGHT, that their services are worth paying for. And I'm sure I've gotten in other people's way as much as anyone has in mine--I take a long time to bag my groceries because I don't have a car, so most of them go into a hiking backpack I take on the bus along with a couple of carried sacks. Basically, I love Winco to death. I just couldn't afford to live without it, not at my income level. read more

Looks like I'm the first to review this particular location ... The new store (it replaced the WinCo - once Cub Foods - over by Target/Vancouver Mall) is a nice upgrade. Much cleaner, everything new and shiny. Otherwise a typical WinCo experience. I like to think of it like going to the DMV but they have groceries and you don't have to take a number. Pluses: *cheap on the canned/dry goods. Way cheaper. *you bag your own. I actually enjoy that. As a former professional box boy, it's surprising how bad a typical cashier can bag your groceries (like putting your Tide with your produce) *no dumb "club cards" or "rewards cards" - just straightforward good prices. Minuses: *ancillary items can be more expensive than some stores (dog food, light bulbs, toilet paper, etc.) *produce/meat departments more competent than a highlight *that DMV factor. "Wal-Mart" like people/characters. It's The 'Couve too, so you get some doozys. read more

I don't quite understand the point of reviewing a grocery store. You're probably coming here because it's convenient. I mean, it's Winco. Never a dull moment. The prices are great, there's almost never a stock issue, and the layout rarely changes. I also like taking my own reusable bags in because they give you 6 cents off your bill per bag used. I wittnesed a young boy around 12 years old tonight being snatched up violently by loss prevention. They were dragging him by the back of his neck and yelling at him. The poor kid was so scared. He was looking back for his mom to come help him. The kid didn't even steal. he was shopping with his mom and they came and drug him away. These people are out of control and I know it's not the first time I've seen this happen. They are abusive and way to aggressive. In this case the boy was innocent. I hope the mother of this boy sues the pants off these people. read more
