Management is terrible. Dog poop and urine made me and a few neighbors sick. They said it's not their apartment. Back tracking to July my PSD had a 950 dollar vet bill. That they claim couldn't do anything even of the ring worms she collected from here. I reported noise from the upstairs neighbors a ton it was an upstairs worker. They would drop stuff scare the crap dogs @11-12:30 at night contest dog barking. Urine all the way in the breezeway and main entrance. There was a dirty diaper and sometimes dog poop w no bag.. Dog trash's were always full for weeks. Management did a huge flip when I reported one of their employees kids which is there quite often. They also kid barged into my apartment. They were also giving us late notifications of checking fire alarms they said they were just texting me not even before giving us a notice. I quoted the 24 hour notice to enter in to my apartment one of my girls got spayed and needed quite. At this point management didn't care people were getting really sick. I got nasty texts and phone calls. From the office. Honestly not worth. Run far away, oh one more thing they don't take care of community spaces claiming its not our space. Oh they also claimed our apartment was move in ready definitely not. Oh and the oven sets off the fire alarms each time. You can definitely find somewhere better. They don't care about safety had a dog couple 10 + years and yelled at me first then my husband because, every time we walk in they are charging straight down. I went to the office, with my PSD they did nothing. They just sent a text never followed up on any of it or care much about health and safety for yourself or pets or your cars. Also their maintenance did not know about how they change the leveler water to go higher . They only changed the water temperature. It took six different visits to fix it. read more

Liked living here, they're nice apartments in a great location for a good price. Had few issues related to the complex itself. The office staff was bizarrely unhelpful whenever anything came up, but we almost never had issues so it wasn't a big deal. Giving two stars because I moved out almost two years ago and I continue to receive emails from them. I've called twice and let them I know I DONT live there anymore and neither does my fiancé, they swear we've been taken off the email list. Even though they said they would fine me for writing a negative review, I have to tell the truth. We lived here a few years ago and we could not stand how much dog poop there was everywhere! Sometimes it was even smeared on the walls. Management literally didn't care. When asked they told us "You will have to pay $10,000" if you write your review, we told them we were writing it anyway. I want to start by saying I have never lived here my review is about the leasing office. A few weeks ago my husband and I went to look at these apartments. They are super close to work and we are trying to get a head start on looking. We were kinda of greeted when we walked in. She kind of shouted I'll be eighth with you. We explained that we wanted to look but she questioned us as to why we were looking already. I'm just trying to be productive! The whole time we could tell that. She viewed us as an inconvenience, she hardly spoke unless we asked questions and when she showed us the apartment, she stood at the door and waited. My husband and I knew within 2 minutes walking through the door we would not want to live here. They also charge different depending on views and levels, more expensive for first floor. My concern was what if that was all that was available. Her response was oh well. Today I see an article that they make residents sign about posting negative reviews. It also says applicants and I did not sign anything but I also didn't really apply. I really hope that article is untrue because if it is, that is a 100% violation of our rights! I have lived here for 5 years and recently purchased my first house. As soon as we let management know we were looking and might want out of our lease early (our lease is up in October) we started getting the run around. Lack of response, different responses from different people in the office and regional manager, no follow up, excuses after excuses as to why they were so un-responsive. They should be happy we are moving they will make money from us breaking the lease and someone new moving in and willing to help us get out but it has been a horrible three month process to move out (next week we will be out for good!). I would steer clear or make sure you ask for them to write your lease different from the get go, apparently that is an option we were not told. When I first moved in everything thing was fine. And the apartment itself was nice, but the management company and leasing office are horrible. I lived here by myself but had someone move in with me later. They told me misinformation about the pet policy so I ended up violating it. Additionally, I had problems with my A/C unit where it kept not cooling my apartment. I had them "fix" it several times and they insisted it was working. After it breaking again, I went to the leasing office wondering why it kept breaking they said they finally got the part in for it and it they would send over the maintenance people to fix it that day. Well they should have just said so. I also left a review on Apartments.com detailing the same thing and it was deleted. Weird. Especially since almost all of their reviews on Apartments.com are like one sentence saying how awesome it is to live there. read more

Came here to say what a fantastic team WCA has! Enrique the maintenance guy was super quick and helpful to replace out light bulbs in our kitchen! We were not home at the time but we felt comfortable to allow him in our home and he left us a note explaining that he had completed the task and told us what a good boy our dog was and to "give him a treat" so precious! HaVe lived here for 6 months. My biggest complaints are: 1) Very thin walls. I can hear my neighbors go to the bathroom early in the morning - yuck. 2) Dog feces. There is constantly dog feces smeared in the hallway and on the sidewalks for some reason. I don't mind that dogs are allowed to live here, but owners need to be responsible and pick up after their pets. I am tired of tip toeing around dog crap to enter my apartment. I have told management many times and it continues to be a problem. Once I told them on a Friday afternoon that the hall was covered in dog feces (as did many others, per the office staff who said I am not the only person to complain) but they said there won't be anyone available to clean it up until Monday. The following Tuesday it was still there. 3) Parking. There are not enough parking spots, and they are not assigned. So sometimes if I come home after they are full, I park two buildings away from my apartment, which sucks if I have groceries to carry. To be fair - what do I like about Windermere Cay? Valet trash is nice Sunday through Thursday and I like the location. I can watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom every night if I want to walk outside. I checked Yelp and Googled "Windermere Cay" before I assumed the lease. I didn't know that there was a gag order in place. I ruled out other places based on online forums and reviews. Windermere Cay didn't have anything so I thought that was a good sign. Who knew?! Needless to say, I will be moving the second my lease is over. read more

Okay, I'm an actual resident and not an internet troll (nor do I work for the apartment). I am writing this to deflect the reviews written by the readership of Ars Technica. My family (wife, two kids) loves living here. My bed is closer to Cinderella's castle than the cars parked in the Magic Kingdom parking lot. We moved here from out of state and did our due diligence. We chose this place because of the good location, the responsiveness of the manage, and the due to the fact that the complex is brand new. Yes, the fireworks are quite loud. But that is because this is an apartment complex and not a underground bunker complex. If I had one complain, it might be that this is a dog-friendly complex and not every pet owner is responsible for cleaning up. But that has nothing to do with management or the property. We are aware of the social media clause and had decided not to post a review online, but since push comes to shove, I am more than eager to rate 5/5 on yelp. The property management here is great, as are the facilities staff. We thoroughly enjoy the amenities and we are excited that the property is expanding with a second pool being built, along with a larger exercise complex. We don't know our long term housing plans, but we are definitely planning on renewing our lease this year. read more

I've lived at Windermere Cay for almost 3 years. This place is HOME for me and I enjoy coming home at night. There are fireworks -- if you are complaining about that, you may not be the sharpest crayon in the box. I can actually see them launch from my building -- that's how close we are. If you didn't figure out there would be noise -- that's on you, cupcake. Personally, I love being able to watch the fireworks and brag to my friends that I live closer to the Magic Kingdom than the people who are paying $2M for a home in Golden Oaks. Joke's on them, I think. The apartments are really quite nice. There are some odd choices (light-switch placement, closet racks, etc.) and we added remotes and lighting kits to our fans because the place really needed light! There are minor build quality issues in the newest phase, but it appears the maintenance team are working their way through those and they are pretty helpful all the way around. I love the office staff. They know me by name when I walk in to the office (to pick up a package or to drop off rent). They have been exceedingly easy to deal with on anything I've needed. MOST of the folks who live here are decent, hard-working folks who just want to come home and relax. There are a few bad eggs -- but that happens anywhere you live. There are a few idiots who smoke. Did you not see ALL the signs and read the lease? Seriously, just don't. There are some careless, rude people who allow their pets to toilet anywhere they want and not pick up after it. Not cool, man. But the place is consistently good and the benefits decidedly outweigh the (largely out of the management company's control) problems. Oh -- and that ARSTechnica stuff is ancient history. That social media policy died less than a year after I moved in. The owner's statement on why it existed was logical, and I understood his concerns, but it was still a hamfisted attempt to "control" the popular opinion online, and it failed because it was poorly thought-out and executed. Since my last review, they have now opened up the larger gym and secondary pool. Pretty impressive in terms of workout space. There is a decent number of machines (though they could use another set of free weights), and the space inside the building is pretty large. However, I will say it does get busy. You kind of have to pick and choose your battles as to what you plan on working out with if it's busy. Not much else has changed from my previous review. Again, this place isn't terrible. It just doesn't fit what I would consider my definition of "luxury." Definitely give it a look and an opportunity as it may fit your needs in terms of location. read more

This is literally the WORST place I ever lived in my ENTIRE life. First off, the leasing office claimed they lost my security deposit. Who does that? Second, my roommate moved out and the apartment complex approved two people to move into my apartment without my consent and called me every day 5 times a day to tell me they moved someone into my apartment... WITHOUT MY CONSENT???? They also questioned why we didn't have furniture in my apartment! Why does it matter and why were you looking through my solarium? The rules are really tight here too, one time the wind knocked my trash can over and they fined me because it "looked bad". Maintenance takes days, not hours days even if you say you need it done ASAP. THERES NEVER PARKING and most of the time there's UHAUL trucks taking over all the spots so almost every night I had to park 3 buildings away. The people in the front office are THE RUDEST PEOPLE IVE EVER MET and they will talk about you behind you back. They talked shit about my roommate to me. So my biggest recommendation DO NOT get sucked into it, you will regret it. read more

Unfortunately this complex masquerades as a beautiful, well maintained, quiet place to live. When I initially moved it that's exactly what I thought. Unfortunately there seem to have been some changes in the last few years. I'm not sure if it's management being lax or overall just not caring but it's becoming a consistent issue. The development is "smoke free" yet I'm unable to open my solarium window without it smelling as though I lit a cigarette in my living room most days. Tenants have made an impromptu smoking section of the sidewalk next to our building. I'm not sure if it's happening anywhere else on property (I wouldn't be surprised) but it's an issue that has been brought up to management many times. The dog waste containers are barely ever emptied and get to the point of overflowing constantly. They can even be smelled inside the hallways of the building on particularly warm days. Overall these are some of the unfortunate issues that have been brought up to management and they seem rather unfazed. read more

I feel that that Covid really changed how these guys do business now. We were so excited to move here (waited 6 weeks for one to open up). As soon as things shut down, it went down hill. The worst part was the end. We had found a house that we wanted to buy. In order to do so, we had to get a form from the apartment complex giving our payment history, etc. The complex wouldn't do it unless we signed a form saying that we were moving out and giving a date. At the time, we have a date that we without would give enough time, but were assured by the office that "we could take it back" and "the apartment wouldn't go on the market and we could extend the date if we needed to". We tried to extend the date and called on a Friday with no one answering the phone and no response. On Saturday we emailed and promptly received a response that we couldn't change it and had to be out in 15 days. At this time, our mortgage was slowly moving and we had no where to go with a first grader, two dogs, and the two of us. With no choice and the deceitful tactics to get us out and rent the place for more (while collecting $2800 more from us to leave) we started to pack up. As our last day ended on Halloween, we stopped for an hour to let my son go trick or treating and then came back to finish up afterwards. We had items that we needed to get to the storage unit that we had to rent, but couldn't get them in that late at night. We went back very early in the morning and pulled the last items outside and left the keys in the apartment as requested. After some banter by text, we were then charged another day because they didn't understand the message that we replied to them saying we were already out of the apartment. Now we're living at a hotel until our mortgage finally finishes processing. For a place that originally said how much they care about their tenants...I think not. read more

Although a bit pricey, Windermere Cay is one of the best apartment complexes in which I have lived. It's a beautiful property in a prime location with nightly views of the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. The primary reason I would live here again is the top-notch customer service from everyone in the leasing office. I used to believe this caliber of customer service was to be expected and took it for granted, but now I know that this property is a diamond in the rough. This was actually the first lease I signed, and the staff were very kind and understanding in walking me through the process. When we had issues with our roommates, they were very helpful and accommodating. They offer so many great amenities including free wi-fi, a wonderful outdoor pool and grilling area with a TV, sending and receiving packages through UPS and FedEx, valet trash, free printing, etc. I literally can't remember all of the services-- there were that many. Everything gets taken care of-- you don't have to babysit them to get paperwork signed or questions answered. If you have an issue, they will find a solution. When you add it all up, the higher rent is worth it for stress-free living. Parking is unassigned and uncovered, which was a bummer because we sometimes had to park a little ways from our apartment, but the actual parking spots were roomy with little risk of accidental door dings. The pools aren't heated and there isn't a hot tub, but I survived. I'm sure there were other little things that bugged me, but overall, I felt compelled to write this review more than a year after I left Windermere Cay because I wish I still lived here. They really made it feel like home. read more

The apartments are all well and good. But the staff at the leasing office are ridiculous. Literally like only one person that works there is a genuine person and is helpful. The rest change there mind on policy all the time and lie when they are called out for doing something else. I don't know if they are discriminatory to some people or just not nice people. I wouldn't go far to say racist but it feels like that sort of dislike vibe of just putting you through hell on you just trying to pay for the F*&% rent. I have lived at Windermere Cat for a year and after doing my research chose them because of the management and location. The process of signing the lease was easy and we did review our lease and agreed to the clause about slandering the community. For those that do not read the entire lease and sign without knowing this you are at fault. I know that Windermere Cay did not threaten you to sign. I am aggravated by the poor reviews and not sure which building those people lived in but below is my 12 month experience at Windermere Cay. Office Staff - The most considerate, helpful, and friendly we have ever dealt with. We have been apartment dwellers for over 11 years and lived at several high end communities. Maintenance - We had 3 issues with our air conditioner. Each was after hours and each was handled within 30 minutes of us calling it in. The maintenance man was very receptive and extremely helpful and friendly. Property - The property is taken care of and maintained above most apartment standards. It is a non-smoking community and has no balconies for people to trash up. The trash compactor does tend to jam up when people overload it or put items in that should not be. So sometimes when Monday rolls around there is trash. I walked around the complex on a regular basis for exercise and do not recall ever seeing pet feces. I promise you I look for it because that is the last thing I want on my shoes. They also built a dog park which I though was a great idea for residents to have a place to let the dogs stretch their legs and socialize. They also paint the hallways and pressure wash them on a regular basis which we love. Valet trash is nice but we tend to walk it to the trash can as our preference. Parking - I have never had a problem with parking and I come and go at all times of the day. I do not believe someone parked two buildings away because the lot was full. If you had to park that far away you would have passed at least 20 empty spots. As anyone that lives there knows two buildings away is a long walk. I also know that the back row of the parking lot is never full and there is always ample spaces. Fireworks - You live adjacent to Disney property!!!! Everyone knows they have fireworks 365 days per year. Everyone knows fireworks are loud. If you don't like the sounds you should not have moved there. You could build a bunker 3 floors deep and you would still here them. After everything is said I believe that if you read everything you are given and do not just scan it to be unpleasantly surprised after signing your lease that you had the choice to live at Windermere Cay and follow their rules or not. So quic complaining and move out. Please also learn a lesson to properly and thoroughly review your lease in detail. read more

If you're looking for the quietest place, maybe not for you, mostly because of said nightly fireworks Lol, but also, they are apartments, and there are a lot of younger residents. Also, I think a completely smoke free community is wishful thinking. I'm not a smoker, but smokers will smoke... why not have a small designated out of the way area for them? Lived there for some time, if u don't mind animal urine and crap outside ur door everyday and animal urine inside the elevator then move here. My son slipped and fell inside the elevator cuz of dog urine. I reached out tons of times to the management and they did nothing! So I moved and now they tried charging me all kinds of phony fees! PLEASE STAY AWAY. All they care about is money not the tenants. I have pictures of all the urine and dog crap inside hallways that would stay there for days unless I picked it up! read more

Last night the fire alarms throughout the entire building went off at 4:50 AM. Everyone evacuated the building until the fire department told us it was safe to go back inside at about 5:20. It's now almost 7 AM, and Management still hasn't turned off the building-wide piercing, flashing alarm system. This, on top of a number of other issues, is why we will not be renewing our lease. read more

A bit of a mixed review here... I'll start with all of the things I enjoyed. You truly can't beat the location, especially if you work at Magic Kingdom. It's great to be able to walk to work. The apartments themselves look nice, and are reasonably priced based on the location. If you're willing to live farther away, you can get a better price. The amenities at the clubhouse are decent, we got some good use out of the outdoor kitchen. You can always reserve it, which is really nice. On the flip side, there have been a few issues. The walls between apartments are very thin. We can very clearly hear the two chihuahuas in the apartment next door. We can also hear the neighbors talking, singing, etc. One time, we had Maintenance come to our apartment to repair a smoke alarm. They came in while we were out. When they completed the Maintenance, they left our door unlocked. The people in the office didn't seem to really care. Recently, we have had the fire alarm go off around 4:30 in the morning. It wasn't shut off until after 7:00. It was a crazy long time. We called the 24 hour courtesy officer to assist. We never got a call back. I emailed the leasing office to inquire about it, requesting a response. Never got a response. Still waiting. We also live on the 4th floor. One of our roommates broke her leg and is in a wheelchair. When the elevator broke and he response from the office was "Oh well..." that was a little disheartening. All in all, if you never have to have any dealings with the office, it's a good place. read more

I have to agree with JP on this one. Initially, I was very excited to see the complex; however, when we finally got around for the tour, I noticed the same things JP is stating. It's marketed to be a "Luxury" complex, they're missing the small nuances that it takes to be luxurious. **The KITCHEN counter tops (because the bathroom counters fell short and have the laminate surface) are granite, but then the cabinets are knob less. **The bathrooms are SMALL. **The AC closet is covered by a cheap aluminum door, which looks awkward. **The closet racks are unusually high, not a standard height so shorter people are screwed. **The pool is TINY (although they are having a 2nd pool.) **The complex across the street is low income (not that there is anything wrong with that) & the Disney parking lot is right next to it so the "exclusiveness" is worn off as soon as you get ready to pull off the parking lot **There is no traffic light exiting, so depending on which way your turning you might have to wait a while To their defense, clubhouse is pretty big, but how often will you want to hang out at the clubhouse where people are constantly in and out of? Yes, the elevators are a GREAT feature to have, but I am not sure they even out for the rest of the place. The Retreat right down the street at Summerport gave us a better apartment, with nicer features and amenities for $10 less than we were going to have to pay at Windermere Cay, so I think the neighboring apartments are closer in price than Mike thinks. read more

I moved into one of the new additions as soon as they opened. I love it. Parking has never been an issue. And although I have read some bad reviews about the staff , we have always found them to be nice and helpful. As for maintenance, if you are the first person to live in a brand new building and don't expect some minor issues you must have unrealistic expectations. As for the noise issues, it is an APARTMENT. Yes, we sometimes hear our downstairs neighbors kids run, but they are kids, that's what they do. If we have any other issues they have been dealt with swiftly. And if you really don't like the fireworks, why did you move here? That noise is a given when you live so close to the Magic Kingdom you can see Cinderella's castle from some of the buildings. And that is one of the reasons I moved here. I love to tell out of town visitors we ordered the fireworks display just for them.
