The old location always felt full, lively, and kind of like a staple in the community. This new space feels quieter and honestly a bit empty, which made me a little sad. I even noticed signs asking customers to come in and support, which makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Price wise, I've always known Broken Horn to have occasional good sales, but overall it's usually not the best deal in town. I recently went in specifically looking for a pooper scooper they used to carry years ago because it was amazing and I genuinely wanted to support local instead of ordering on Amazon. Unfortunately, they didn't have it. The only similar option was plastic and priced the same as what I could get online, so it just didn't make sense. I ended up ordering from Amazon, which I honestly hated doing because I would've preferred to give them the business. That said, I'm still giving them an honorary five out of five purely because of the memories and what this place meant growing up in Baldwin Park. They still offer dog vaccines, which is a huge plus for the community and something I appreciate. I really hope they find their footing again and make whatever adjustments are needed to bring back that special feeling the old location had. Broken Horn has history here, and I genuinely want to see it thrive again.

I decided to come here for its convenient location and great reviews, and I'm so glad I did. The store is fairly small, but it's very clean, efficient, and packed with a ton of cool supplies. There is ample parking and all the workers are extremely kind and helpful. I bought a bale of timothy hay, and the friendly workers outside helped bring it out and load it in my car. The bale was humongous, the price unbeatable. The hay has a lovely scent, texture, and color. I can clearly see the quality difference compared to the packaged Oxbow hay sold at pet stores, and as further proof, my rabbit went for the new hay immediately. Since my car was too small, the hay bale couldn't fit, and two workers proceeded to try various solutions to accommodate. They laid down cardboard in my car without me asking, to minimize the amount of scattered hay. In the end, they cut the hay bale into two smaller batches, secured one in the trunk, and gathered the rest in a box for my backseat. Everybody was incredibly nice and patient the entire time despite my car giving them so many issues. They also gave me advice on how to transport the hay once I got home. Everyone in the area should definitely come here for their farm supply (and bunny hay) needs!! I look forward to returning.

I hesitated to write this review, but it really needs to be put out there so you know in advance what you're getting into here. A couple of months ago, I bought an item online during a good sale for store pickup. When I picked it up, I asked if I would be able to exchange it for a different size if it turned out to be too big. They said yes, but this turned out not to be true, It was a size too big and when I came back for a replacement, they handed me the new one and told me that I had a balance due! Instead of exchanging it like they said they would, they did a return and pretended like I had not already bought and paid for it and the sale was no longer in effect. If you're buying a high ticket item here on sale, watch out. I was tempted to leave the item, but I needed it so I paid the balance and I will never shop here again. You can get a way better deal from the myriad online retailers. This is not how anyone serious does business, including myself in my own business, and they need to take a course or something. You never revoke a sale, especially when it's an item that is size specific and often tack needs to be exchanged. So much for supporting a local business. This is why corporations do better than mom and pop stores.
