Your PEOPLE: What are your heights and weights and how many times have each of you ridden a horse before? ME: 5'2 120 5'6 230 4-6 times YOUR PEOPLE: Ok. The location is 100 Equestrian Drive, Southlake, Texas 76092 and I need you there by 5:45 pm. Kambry will call you later and get your cc# for the reservation.thanks, Jeff NO ONE EVER CALLED FOR CREDIT CARD INFO. SATURDAY EVENING at 7pm less than 24 hours before the ride I get this message Hey Larry. There was a miscommunication between myself and Jeff. The ride tomorrow is unfortunately fully booked. My name is Kambry with Widowmaker Trail Rides. The lady who usually sets people up for rides is out so things are all out of whack. I RESPONDED That is unacceptable. I have a guest coming in from out of town. So you need to do something. Something earlier or something. I planned this and you gave me confirmation. Kambry then said Who gave you confirmation? We only confirm rides when we receive a deposit I then said Let's not do that. YOUR PEOPLE: I have 2 spots Sunday from 6-8 pm ME:Great I'll take them. He will call you shortly. My ride filled up before Kambry could call you but she should have called yesterday and told you immediately. Jeff I asked Okay does the time change? Jeff said I'm not sure but he will call you shortly and you can work that out. NO ONE CALLED. SO AT 9:34 I said It's 9:30 I haven't heard from anyone. That's not a good look Jeff responded This ride isn't going to work. Do whatever it was that you were planning to do tomorrow before you called yesterday last minute to try and schedule a ride with us this weekend. I read your text with Kambry as well as your text above and it would not be a good fit. So I guess people that call last minute get lies. I responded I will definitely include this in my yelp review. It's obvious you don't keep your word. Pitiful I had someone coming in town for this ride. DO NOT USE THEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

This place is a legitimate piece of American pop culture history, and they do a great job bringing it to life. The guided tour takes you inside the actual ranch house, and it's more immersive than you'd think. The formal dining room with its crystal chandeliers, the bold red kitchen, the grand foyer staircase -- it's all right there, frozen in time like the Ewing family just stepped out for a moment. And yes, they have the room where JR was shot, complete with a chalk outline and crime scene markers. Campy? A little. Fun? Absolutely. Outside, the grounds are beautiful. White fences, open pastures, friendly animals wandering around with the iconic ranch house as the backdrop. There's also JR's silver Lincoln Continental on display in the museum, along with memorabilia and history from the show. Fair warning: this is a deeply generational experience. My older colleagues were absolutely in their element while some of the younger folks in our group needed a little context. But even without being a die-hard Dallas fan, there's enough to see and appreciate that everyone ended up having a good time. Great group outing, unique Dallas experience. If you're in the area, it's absolutely worth a visit.

Growing up in Europe, we watched the show later than audiences in the U.S., but I never missed an episode and absolutely loved following the Ewings' story. So when I had the chance to travel through Texas, visiting Southfork was at the top of my list. The visit exceeded my expectations. The ranch is perfectly set up for visitors - from the guided tour of the house, which is preserved and decorated exactly like it appeared in the show, to all the little details, including the cars the Ewing family used. Our guide gave a fascinating talk about the history of filming, the ranch's rental process, and behind-the-scenes stories that really brought the show to life. We also got to walk around the ranch, see the small horses or ponies, and browse a tiny gift shop. It was amazing to experience in person something I'd watched on TV for so many years - and on the other side of the continent, no less! The whole experience was nostalgic, charming, and genuinely fun. If you love Dallas or just want to see an iconic TV ranch in real life, Southfork is absolutely worth the visit.

The first time we came last year, they gave me the shortest horse because I was the shortest rider there! I rode Ziggy, and I was already attached. He's so cute-- I am a big David Bowie fan, so I have nicknamed him,"Mr. Stardust" LOL The first time we came, it had been some years since I had ridden a horse, and the same for the boyfriend. We did the easy walking trail ride-- this year we did the intermediate trotting trail and I asked to ride Ziggy again-- what can I say, I love him.. Although we were initially nervous for reservation cancellations due to the rain and being pushed back a day, they still had great communication as to whether or not we'd be able to have our trail ride. The respond via text message-- so be aware that if you call, they might not answer. The only time they DO call is when you're booking the reservation. It had been raining on and off and so they said the first time they were checking our specific trail, was when we were actually on it. We didn't get to trot as much as I wanted, but it was a little squishy in some areas. The staff is friendly and even take your photo at the end! My thing is that it is very hard to hear them talk when you're on the trail ride. It would be beneficial for them to carry a microphone or something.

We rode along serene trails and ended up beside a beautiful lake. We saw numerous deer that didn't even spook the horses. It was so peaceful hearing nature up close and personal. The horses were so calm The staff were so gentle and really helped us first time riders feel at ease, making our horseback riding a therapeutic experience.
