I only have the best things to say about Julie, our groomer…read more A year ago, we adopted our miniature poodle, Nora, who had been rescued from a puppy mill. When we got her, she was traumatized beyond belief not only from the environment she was raised in, but also from being shuffled around from multiple foster homes. She had lost trust in people and was terrified of everything and everyone. As she became more comfortable with us and settled into our family, we decided it was time to take our little friend to get a much needed bath and haircut. When we showed up with our pup for the first time, she was matted and her coat was out of control. We had never had a poodle before, and had tried bathing her in the tub (which only made things worse). Julie greeted us with a smile, and instead of judging us based on the condition she was in, educated us on how to properly care for her type of coat. She was nothing but patient and kind when Nora pooped on the floor out of fear before even being taken in. She took her time with the appointment, and then called me to tell me that she was unable to finish her groom. Julie felt that based on her behavior, it seemed like she had enough for the day. Because she was so scared, Julie asked if I could bring her back the next day so that she could finish at Nora's pace so as not to traumatize her further. I was so taken aback and touched that she was so considerate of our dogs situation and behavior. I happily agreed. We now go back to see Julie regularly. Her work is exceptional and Nora comes home looking (and smelling) beautiful every time. Nora loves Julie and is so much more comfortable with the grooming process thanks to her patience. Not only does she look wonderful, but her experiences at Petco/with Julie have helped her grow into a more confident and trusting dog. Thank you Julie for your kindness, patience, and understanding! Nora looks forward to seeing you again!

Pet Express - This is where they get the puppies they sell. No you're not saving them, you're supporting them.

Only adding a star for the nice woman who helped us (Tori). The rest of the experience:…read more 1. Not allowed to hold the puppy or go into an enclosure even though we were serious buyers. 2. When we paid for the puppy he reeked. 3. Told he had his shots and was visited twice by a vet. Impossible the vet didn't know his condition. (See 4) 4. Puppy has had vicious diarrhea (our house is a war zone) since we brought him home. Took him to vet and he tested positive for Coccidia and Giardia. Highly contagious and we have another dog and small kids. 5. Dog also has a heart murmur but the pet shop said it could be from travel or stress so I'm not going to panic about this one just yet. We did submit a claim for the vet bills. I think they only reimburse up to $1k. We are at $220 and need to get retested in a few weeks and will likely need more meds. Add a test and meds for our other dog as well and we are racking up costs for what should have been a healthy dog. And forget everything we've had to toss and the rugs that will need to be cleaned after all this. Not a good way to start what should be a beautiful time with our new boy. Why are the dogs not being tested and treated for parasites? Why was the dog given to us with vicious diarrhea? So many questions.. but clearly either they need a new vet or they need to get more involved in making sure the dogs are healthy.

I asked whether Royal Canin and Pro Plan's large breed puppy food was good, they said no those are not good food for my puppy. My golden was underweight according to the vet. Read before going there!…read more I had a very disappointing experience at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital, Weymouth MA. My husband brought our cat in on May 27 and waited from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., yet only one test was performed and no diagnosis, treatment plan, or meaningful care was provided. The next day, I returned and was presented with nearly $5,000 in additional tests. Initially, I was told the ultrasound specialist was unavailable until the following day. After I declined some of the recommended testing, I was suddenly told the specialist was available immediately and the ultrasound could be done right away, which raised concerns about the necessity of the recommendations. Staff repeatedly discussed the possibility of cancer and even chemotherapy for pets (my cat is 11 month old), which put me under significant emotional pressure. I agreed to a biopsy, but afterward I was told to go home and wait for a call that never came. My husband later had difficulty getting our cat discharged, and we did not leave until around 11 p.m. No veterinarian discussed the results or treatment plan with us, no medication was provided that night, and our cat came home in worse condition than when we arrived. The lack of communication, questionable recommendations, and poor patient care made this an extremely stressful and expensive experience. I cannot recommend this hospital based on our experience. AVOID this place.
