Ah the chicken delight. It keeps me coming back. The price is fantastic, much cheaper than a comparable wrap anywhere else. From time to time I've tried other menu items but none are as good as the delight (a chicken delight is a chicken pita wrap by the way, with lettuce, tomatoes and a special delight sauce). One time we had a bad experience, the tomatoes on our delights were a greenish unripe colour, texture and flavour. When the waitress asked how everything was we told her and she made excuses, no apologies. Then on paying at the cash were asked again how everything was, we again mentioned the tomatoes and got more excuses, no apologies. It was a bit bizarre. Have been here several times. There is typically a wait for food but the service is good, food is tasty - it comes out hot and fresh so it's worth the wait. Everything with the rib plate is fantastic, especially considering the price of just $12.95. Had the chicken delight and was not blown away - it was good but not exactly as legendary as I have heard. I've been going to this restaurant over the course of my 31 life and, sincerely, this place is extremely hit or miss. When they nail it, the food is a great example of staple American food done pretty well and when they miss the mark, they miss it terribly. However, I'm going to give you guys a basic rundown of my average experience with the place, as I have way too many of each experience to really post them all here: I would walk into the restaurant which, in all honesty, after parking, which is a pain in the rear to park in the parking lot of, almost all of the time, to see that I'm either completely ignored, partially ignored, or treated to a "Seat Yourself" sign which could mean they're either too busy to help customers or they don't really care to push themselves beyond their routines. After either being seated or seating ourselves, which can take a long time in its own right, we have to wait even longer - this wait time can go even longer depending on how busy it is there - just to order our drinks, let alone receive them. Once I receive a menu, usually I'm distracted by how long it's taking to be attended to because I'm something of an indecisive person, so I'll take an unusual amount of time to pick what I want, especially when there's not a huge variety in menu items. Ordering and getting my food usually doesn't take a huge amount of time compared to how long is usually takes to get the ball rolling. Once I receive my food, though, is where the fun begins. Plating usually leaves me either with an abundant portion that seems to depend on how big they make the main - as they fill the rest of the plate with a heap of fries, coleslaw, and beans, depending on your dish - and that doesn't equal a truly large portion as it's easy to fill up on fries, and, honestly, half the time, the quality of the fries aren't up to snuff and I never really finish them, so it feels like a waste. My wife always gets the Chicken Delight and we always share my fries - we're both pretty healthy eaters so that should tell you something. Getting refills on our drinks, as well, is something I should honestly just forget about half the time. The quality of the food, though, most of the time, is spot on and it tastes great, especially the Chicken and Steak Delights. The pulled pork here isn't bad, either. Service seems to be hit or miss and it's usually a miss as it takes the restaurant being nearly empty to feel like they're being pleasant with you and properly attended to. Considering how little I spend here I feel as though I'm getting exactly what I paid for which, I guess, isn't terrible.. I just wish the service was a lot better. read more

My sister had her baby at Met Hospital. I called ahead and was told 40 minutes (also felt rushed off the phone before I could finish placing my order). It was busy and I know they are notorious for being slow but I was being patient. I went in after 30 minutes to pre-pay for my food. I asked the waitress for a couple condiments and was told not a problem. I watched as more people came in for both pickup and dine-in. At around 50 mins after I placed my order when I asked to check my order I was told I would be called when it's ready in a stern manner. I watched in disbelief as people who came in after me and were seated getting their food before me (among countless other orders). This made me upset. I politely asked once again after an hour and 10 mins and I was told it was being wrapped up. At almost an hour and 15 mins! They came out with my order and I wasn't even given an apology for the wait!!! Do they have good food? Yeah, it's OK. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. We do love Penalty Box don't get us wrong. However each visit is a hit and miss with both staff and the food. The Chicken Delights really are amazing - but you might want to ask "easy on the sauce". If you go on a Friday or Saturday evening expect the wait to be long. To be seated and for your food. They WILL warn you right when you walk in, but the warning is more "go away" than "we'll do our best to take care of you". But really that in my opinion is more Canada's customer service vs elsewhere. This time we decided to order the GYRO - A GYRO - Not a Chicken Delight Gyro! They put their Chicken Delight Sauce on the Gyro Instead of Taziki Sauce. Who does that? It's a Gyro that's what makes it a Gyro the sauce. The sandwich was all mayonnaise "delight" sauce. But, our fault, we failed to read the menu which did state Delight Sauce on the Gyro. The wait staff was great and quick to assist and suggest instead of waiting another 45min for our food to be replaced we just scrap it off and she'd bring us some Tiziki Sauce to replace it. This is my favourite restaurant by far. The best food ever, could have a chicken delight every day of the week, and I am very picky.

Love it here! Whether it's the chicken delight, boasted chicken, or even the Greek salad it's ALWAYS delicious. The wait time is often very high for this restaurant for takeout or dine-in but that's just something that needs to be accounted for. The wait is that long because there are that many customers placing orders. I have been a repeat customer at Penalty Box for 15 years. My family and I have eaten here 3 to 4 times month, each order being at LEAST $50. The staff has never been fantastic, but I haven't had an serious problems besides them always forgetting my extra sauces etc. Which is annoying, but I can let that slide. What happened yesterday was unacceptable. I called in my order and they told me 1 hour. You're busy...I get it. No problem. I show up after an hour and they tell me that they either never put in my order or lost it. I'm annoyed but still polite as they tell me it will only take 5 minutes and they'll rush my order. 45 minutes goes by and I am still waiting. When I attempt to ask the staff about it, they accuse me of lying. They tell me that I didn't wait an hour for my order in the first place and that I hadn't just been sitting in their restaurant waiting for my food another 45 minutes later. I called on my cell phone and had PROOF that I had showed up a full hour later, but the staff refused to even look at it or let me talk to a manager. He then proceeds to sarcastically say "See you next week". Ya, right. I will NOT come back here and I will tell everyone I know about their TRASH service. This is no way to treat ANY customer especially one that has been loyal to your restaurant for 15 years. My friend and I came here for lunch, we arrived in the lot early so my friend came to sit in my car, a man approached my vehicle, came to my window and said excuse me, "Dont leave your vehicle here" my friend said we are going inside the man had no interest in what she had to say and was already at the end of my car. We went inside and we sat I mentioned to our waitress the incident outside at this point my friend and I were concerned her car would have a ticket or worse be towed away by the time we came out, because the man didn't see us actually enter the building because he entered the back door of the restaurant, he wasn't pleasant nor interested in knowing we were coming inside. The waitress appologized and asked what the man looked like, so we gave her his description. A few moments later, the man came to our table and become very angry with me, I told him I didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me in the parking lot, he said he was being nice. I reminded him that when my friend went to speak to him he ignored her and we simply wanted to be assured nothing would happen to her car, I told him maybe he needed to take a better approach at speaking to customers, possibly ask maybe if we planned to go into the restaurant than tell us not to leave the car there. He told me "Don't lecture me" I told him he was rude and disrespectful. He didn't like being called out on his demeanor and he told us to leave. Come to find out he was the owner, I am so sad I've spent money in this restaurant in the past, if I would have known this man treats customers this way I wouldn't have wasted my money here. I honestly hope the staff are treated better than he treats his customers. The waits are far too long here and they are rude when you call in for take out orders, you call at 11 to ask for an order to be ready at 530-6 and they tell you they cannot guarantee it'll be ready... I am giving you a 6.5hour notice for pitas and you can't guarantee it'll be ready???.... I will not be back, yes the delights are good but anyone can slap chicken in a pita and add sauce........ Good food, extremely slow service and the worst experience I've ever encountered personally, very rude! The person that waited on us was so rude that he was yelling and arguing with us about how long we waited for our order. Yes it can get crazy especially Friday 5pm , you may have to wait for a table and another 30 mins at your table but when u get your food you will be back every week and wont even care about waiting.
