We rented a home on the bay for the week and were looking to rent kayaks during our stay. Jibber was great! He offered a competitive rate, and even delivered and picked the kayaks up. We always enjoy staying with Jibber at the Windsurfing the Boat Yard. This is the 3rd time we have stayed in a small bungalow. It is always clean and neat. Everything that you need is in the place. Laura and Jibber have a great front yard that looks like a jungle where we had a barbeque in. Jibber has paddled board rentals there and took us to the end of the island to paddle back to the yard. We had about 15 dolphins playing around us. We always have a great time there. read more

What a great time!!! My guy has been coming here to windsurf for 12 years and renting from Jibber. Now he brings his own equiptment & Im renting / taking lessons. You will not meet a more paceint knowledgeable instructor. I've advanced so much in two weeks!! He has great state of the art equipment. The South Padre Windsurfing association is on the north flats where there is the best clean wind unobstrutced from buildings. It also has the longest reach ( apx 4 miles to the channel ) on the island. By far the best place to learn this sport. The bay water is at most 6ft deep all the way across so you dnt feel intimidated when you fall in:-) What a deal for a low fee of $15 a month or $25 for a year & no rigging fees. It is gated private property so you feel safe leaving your equiptment in your transportation. There isn't the state of the art facilities but who needs them when you are a true windsurfer;-) Bring your water & lunch & meet some great people!!!! There are also many great liters that belong to the association. Have fun!!!! read more

Jibber was super accommodating and the prices were very reasonable. I had my paddleboard and we needed a kayak for my boyfriend so we could enjoy the water together. I took a beginners windsurfing lesson with Jibber. It was fun and alot easier than I thought it would be. Jibber had me windsurfing in less than 30 minutes. Jibber is true "island guy." He is easygoing and fun. The instruction was great. On my windsurfing breaks, Jibber let me know what I needed to correct. I just kept improving. Jibber put me on a more advanced sail after about an hour. After just one lesson, Jibber says that I'm ready for a more advanced windsurfer. I'm hooked. Had a great time! read more

So after just about 4 weeks in Texas, getting skunked the first time out here, and not finding a suitable launch point last week, I finally got out on the water for just about two hours. I was the only person in the water except for two fisherman near the convention center and the occasional boater....I call Gibber to pick up just a few used items and he spent some time helping me disconnect my mast. Even though I just needed a few things, he was quite gracious with his time and told me that he never had a day job and this has been his main gig for life!!! Windsurfing has now become a very solitary sport for me, as barely anyone really cares to even give it a shot and I have gotten a lot of snide comments from people saying that it was a fad sport. Well from what I have seen, Windsurfers as a group are some of the healthiest and nicest people I have ever met, and that is one of the reasons that I have stuck with it. Most of the rest of the people I know are slowly putting on more and more weight and stuck in lives of quiet desperation trying to support more children or car loan debt or other life sucking endeavors!!! Its great that there is someone like Gibber out here, in this place and time offering his moral support for the few Windsurfers left!!! read more

Windsurfing on South Padre Island with Jibber is the best!! He's a great instructor, so patient and calm. Plus he has a loud voice you can actually hear when you are out in the water. ;) The Laguna Madre water is almost always nice and warm, and shallow too for easy water starting.
