I am extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled. We booked this property through Airbnb, paid our $2,500 deposit, and secured what we believed was the perfect home for our group months in advance. Now, after all this time, SPI has informed us that the property was incorrectly priced and they will not honor our reservation. Instead, they are asking for an additional $3,500 or offering to move us into a three-bedroom property located off the beach--which is not suitable for our group of 14 guests. While they have offered to refund our deposit, this does not make up for the inconvenience, stress, and lack of accountability. This situation reflects a serious lack of professionalism and reliability on the part of SPI, and it is equally frustrating that Airbnb has not provided meaningful support or resolution. Worst customer service ever!!! A HUGE disappointment and a WAIST of money! Our house smelt like MOLD. They tried to say that's how the island smells. (Lie-we rent every summer and have never had issues with other rentals!) Our pool had a nasty film in it. Property was poorly managed. I could go on and on about everything that was wrong, but our main concern was the smell inside the house. It was a safety concern that they did not want to address. We were forced to get a hotel. SPI rentals would not relocate us, refund us, or even come out to fix/assess the problem. I will NEVER rent through SPI Rentals again. read more

Service. Our AC didn't work for 2 of our four days. Drapery bar was falling off the wall in the living room and mold in the showers. We rented a 3 bedroom beach front condo with a pool at the Edgewater and did not provide towels. They offered beach chairs and tent rentals and dropped them off in our 5th floor condo but no service to take them to the beach and set them up. We would have gladly paid someone to do. There is not beach equipment co that will set up in front of the Edgewater. You'll need to walk down the beach. I suggest using Franke Realtors or Padre Island Rentals who offer more personalized and accommodating service and condos are in better condition. We are mature adults and treated us like they were renting to teenagers. They gave us wrist bands! read more

horrible! Thought we were staying in a beautiful vacation home that we drove 17 hours to get to. Walked into a horrible smelling place that was not cleaned at all. The showers were so bad I had to go by cleaning stuff to clean them! we found multiple cockroaches. The air conditioner did not work in the master master bedroom was unsafe and hazardous. The didn't work when we asked to be moved they refused when I threatened to turn them into the health department. They retaliated by sending an email saying that we were being kicked out because of my emotional support animal three hours later they showed up unannounced walked in the door and told my three minor children they needed to be out in five minutes. They also told me if I purchased six nights I would get the seventh free they did not honor that and they told me I had a $200 credit. For beach which was not a credit they ended up admitting to me. It was a charge. It was an absolute nightmare, and they are a terrible excuse for rental management company. read more

We had rented a vacation property last year and had a better experience, but our rental over Thanksgiving week was a huge disappointment. We had family flying in to South Padre from all over the U.S., so I wanted to ensure everything was perfect. Unfortunately we had power issues the first couple days (no heat or major appliance usage), to the point where the meter had to be replaced. Then the hot tub didn't work for 3 days and we just received some excuse that it wouldn't work at less than 55 degrees. (We had a hot tub we used when we lived in MN at less than 20 degrees, so I didn't buy that.) The maintenance folks were nice when they came out to the house, but it was a lot to spend ($1,250/day) to not feel like our issues were getting prioritized. Will definitely find a different family vacation spot next time. read more

Wow, don't rent through these guys. I rented a "luxury" property for my family and paid an exuberant amount for a house that was for all accounts kind of icky. Despite a cleaning fee of 400 bucks, we found half a dozen cigarette butts in and around the pool when we checked in, grease stains above the stove, grime streaking the cabinets, and my bathroom was infested with tiny ants and the shower leaked all over the floor. The house was missing trim and had smudges, gouges, and scrapes all over the walls. The TVs didn't work (someone came and fixed the downstairs tv to be fair, but the tv in my room didn't even have a remote) and the hot water heater completely died leaving us with no hot water for almost 24 hours. SPI rentals were difficult to get ahold of to report the problem and the head of maintenance, Ken, was rude to me over the phone and seemed annoyed that we wanted hot water for the rest of our stay. David, was pleasant to work with and had better customer service skills and eventually the new hot water heater was installed. Everyone had taken ice cold showers by then, just to get the pool water off. We didn't have hot water for almost 24 hours and SPI Rentals didn't offer to refund any portion of our money. I rented through Airbnb and left an honest review of everything that happened and since SPI didn't want it to affect their rating, they found a fun loop hole where they simply didn't rate me so that my review never posted. Smells like a scam to me, so here I am on google since we did in fact rent from SPI Rentals. Attached are photos. On the plus side, the pool was nice and there were plenty of towels. It's easy to walk to the beach from here but be advised that you still have to check in and out at an office to get the keys so there's no remote check in during a pandemic. The house is okay, it's just old and needs updating and better cleaning after guests. It's just not worth what they're charging. Not sure why all the bad reviews. I had called this company to rent a condo for a weekend trip, (as of yet still working on when, due to COVID) but they have been really helpful with the process. Yes there are fees that if you book are non refundable but this is with any company (VRBO, AIRBNB ETC) you need to look at this prior to renting anywhere. When we decide when to rent we will be going thru this company they do have some great rentals and quite a few to choose from. Give this company a try you will not be disappointed. read more

This by far was the WORST AirBNB we have stayed at. The price was very expensive but we were willing to book since it advertised a wonderful pool and hot tub. Upon arrival the pool was FILTHY and so was the house. A huge bag of dirty linens and towels were left out. They made so many excuses as to why the pool was in that condition and even said that BEFORE we got there they tried putting chemicals in it WITHOUT telling us. TOTALLY UNSAFE. This was our second time renting through SPI. First time last late December we had a perfect experience. We booked for this Thanksgiving week and the experience was certainly disappointing. When we arrived it was raining (not heavy storms). The electricity was not working correctly, so we had no appliances or heat. It never came back after nearly 24 hours on and they determined it was the meter. Had to have it replaced. Once everything was working the hot tub would not heat. We got multiple answers on why. Below 55 degrees. Then even though above 55 the wind. Then another guy came out and monitored it over the hour and determined yes, not heating correctly and said he would document so. Short time later another guy came out and said the rain caused the water level to rise so that is why and the pool company would have to come out. They never did. It did finally heat up enough our last day and 1/2- but the pool was the same temp as the hot tub because they were heating together- which we did not need. It look way too many contact to office. Maintenance staff was polite and nice. I feel like SPI has a management issue and not blaming on maintenance workers. Management never reached out to us until we left with a $200 credit. We paid $6,300 for 5 days. First 24 hours no heat and no blankets (just a thin quilt). The first 24 hours were just a waiting game for them to fix stuff. Certainly it worth the cost. Hotel managed resorts for us from now. read more

I would highly discourage renting from SPIrentals if you are planning a vacation in the South Padre Island area - they manipulate/remove bad reviews from their site and don't take responsibility for scammy houses. More importantly, never EVER rent the property at 4511 Gulf Blvd as you will likely feel scammed like we did. It's an absolute bait and switch - the photos and videos make it look like a luxury vacation rental but the owner very clearly is taking advantage of the great location and providing a glorified frat house for a Ritz Carlton pricetag. The AC is old and doesn't have the capacity to adequately cool the house size, it reached 82 degrees inside for us and there are zero window treatments in the house. 4511 Gulf Blvd felt dirty/grimy and in addition to having absolutely no mats or rugs anywhere to wipe the grim off, you'll encounter a busted hose, broken shower door, faulty sliding door, broken bathroom hardware, terrible cookware, inadequately stocked kitchen, pantry stuffed with the owners junk, and old exterior furniture. If you like waking up at 3:30AM then congrats, the fire alarm will gladly do that for you when it goes off for no reason each night. Overall, the property is NOT as advertised. Don't be fooled and don't waste your money with SPIRentals as a company because their accountability doesn't exist and definitely don't spend your family vacation at 4511 Gulf Blvd. In the end, SPI will just refuse to provide a refund for the fraudulent setup they put you in blaming it on the house owner when in fact you rented from their company website with fake reviews. But don't take my word for it, check out the BBB as they are a C- and I wish we had done our homework prior. read more

We planned a family reunion for more than six months ahead of schedule for July 6 - 11, 2024. We had our six grown children and seven grandchildren booked on airline flights into Harlingen and Brownsville for our reunion at 111 East Capricorn. That's when Hurricane Beryl began it's approach into the Texas Gulf Coast. The Texas Governor issued a State of Emergency for South Padre, and the airlines informed our children that their flights would be cancelled. Accordingly, we had to cancel the event. Even though Beryl narrowly missed SPI, the rip currents and surf became dangerous. When we asked for a refund or a reschedule we were summarily denied both. We even asked if they could reschedule us for a time when the rentals were not occupied. In short, we were out more than $8,000.00. In my opinion, they were uncooperative despite circumstances beyond our control. I strongly advise against renting from SPI rentals. read more

Turtle house ****BEWARE**** When we arrived at the Turtle house, first day we wanted to cook out in the outdoor kitchen and the code for the outdoor speakers no one could provide it the code to use the system. Also, the back area by the volleyball they had pallets just thrown back there. Volley area could use to maintenance. Landscaping needs upgrading, outdoor kitchen needs Maintenace repair drawers are loose and not aligned, outdoor lights in kitchen area are poorly kept and some are burnt out, when cooking in the outdoor kitchen area does not have good ventilation and vent does not work properly. Inside the home was ok, we found that the head boards to the two master suite are not attached, as they just lean against the mattress. Upstairs TV in the shared rooms only one works. Furniture in family area needs a deep cleaning you can see stains and you can tell they are not being properly cleaned. Worst experience ever. The security guard in The Villas is extremely rude and curt. SPI rental does not answer their phone. We got the keys from them at the office and when we got here the key didn't work. It is absolutely ridiculous to pay $1,700 for 4 days and this level of Motel 6 service. read more

Perla and Jose were very nice to work with. RENTAL PRICES for Golf Carts are higher in South Padre Island ($250 per day) than Port Aransas($75 per day). So getting over that shock was the first thing. SPI Activities was one of the more reasonable outfits we checked. GOLF CARTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE BEACH This was the second thing we discovered. Perla was very kind and helpful and told us how we could get close. One reason we rent a golf cart is to take gear down to the beach! TOWING COMPANIES TARGET GOLF CARTS Boy was this a really unpleasant experience! AND COSTLY $350!!! to get the cart out. I parked our SPI Golf Cart in the Seville Hotel lot to unload gear. I was gone 45 min, too long, and A-Pro Towing was contacted. Someone was just waiting for me to make that mistake. Perla called me to warn me what was happening but by the time I saw her message it was too late. The enormously over weight man at A-Pro said, "Have a nice day". Really? CARTS BREAKDOWN This a fact. SPI ACTIVITIES did the right thing every time, they replaced the cart without a hassle. Good Luck with your Golf Cart experience in South Padre Island. Despite being a beautiful beach front property, there were many issues with this rental for our stay during Thanksgiving. Upon arriving, lights flickered, appliances and heat didn't work, and the pool and hot tub would not heat. This is pretty odd, because we arrived right as cleaning was leaving. You would think these would've been reported by them? There were MULTIPLE calls to the office to come fix these things. The maintenance workers were very nice. I wish I could say the same about the management. We had no heat / appliances / hot tub for the first night. BRR and what a way to start vacation. After so many calls and back and forth they finally replaced the meter. The hot tub / pool took over half of our trip to get fixed. A $6300 rental for 5 days, this was not ideal. You'd think management would try to make things up to us, nope. We received a 3% refund. 3% for having a night without appliances and heat and almost 3 days with no pool and hot tub AND multiple hours spent on the phone / figuring things out with maintenance. I'm sad to say that I am super disappointed and I do not recommend staying here. Great views and location but not worth the hassle! read more

This was our second time using SPI but never again. Our first trip was a delight but this last weekend was so bad, I guess they need to pay for that big new office by forcing us to stay in below par condos. We booked Continental 104 thinking it was nice, clean and on the ocean. It was on the ocean but was old and worn down looking the parking is in a dirt lot across the street and nothing was clean from the walk in to the condo to the Dirt and Grime on the old nasty shower. I returned my door code and asked to be moved but was told they are not a hotel so we would have to stay there and they would send a cleaning crew the next day. So I informed them I would be staying else ware and contacted my credit card to dispute the charge. No one should have to spend one night in grime. P.S the pictures are very Deceptive, the rooms are old and worn out the Stove had to be 20 yrs old. The pool is right next to the street with very little room and a wall between the pool and the street. The beach view was ugly as well with trash and a broken patio dumped in the sand. read more

We booked online through Trivago to booking.com and they were very diligent on contacting us from our first inquiry then keeping us updated in advance on the steps we needed to complete prior to arrival. We were very impressed at how detailed the instructions were and the Sapphire Luxury Residences were totally 5 star accommodations a huge 3/2 condo with beach front view and full kitchen stocked with everything you need for the beach or poolside. Downstairs was 2 pools and even kiddie pool, they had an Easter egg hunt for kids all ages when we stayed over Easter weekend. They truly covered all the bases! When you arrive you go to Spi offices down the road few blocks to check in then you drive to Sapphire to get your keys at front desk you can drop off suitcases and hit the pool or beach or you can drive a mile down the road and stock up your huge kitchen to enjoy meals at home too which is great for our big family. Also the convenience of countless shopping centers and restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining all within walking distances or riding if you prefer a golf cart rental! You have to check it out for yourself they surely will not disappoint. read more

Only to arrive and find out within less than 24 hours that the only elevator in your second choice of condominiums is being torn out and repairs will continue for the week. You only discover this from RIO ELEVATOR REPAIR person in the parking lot. There was no notice of repair anywhere in the building and SPI RENTALS did not notify you and also seemed unaware and dismissive of the fact. After making multiple phone calls and unable to speak with management (yes I immediately requested management as to not subject front desk personal to duties or objectives that they should not be held accountable for) I still have not had a return phone call from management. When presented with the third condo, I took it upon myself to view it. It was vacant of guest at 10:30 am but not available for check in until 4pm, after reaching out on my part to SPI RENTALS. At no point did they reach out to our family to notify us of when the condo would be ready. I feel that SPI RENTALS is negligent of the American Disabilities Act, dismissive of seniors, the handicapped. lacks any sense of urgency, has zero capabilities in communication and is untrustworthy. This was absolutely the worst experience that I have ever had! Upon entering the condo, there was a slight smell and the floors were moist and sandy. Oh well, let's try to enjoy our vacation anyway. Sat on the balcony to have a drink and watch people on the beach after a long 10 hour drive. Then we went to the beach and came in around 8. We had supper and drinks on the balcony until bedtime. My wife and I both almost threw up when brushing our teeth because of the foul water. Exhausted, we went to bed. The bed was awful - hard and sheets would not stay on - not a restful night. In the morning we made coffee with bottled water and then off to the beach. Came back around 1 and immediately took a shower. OH! MY! GOSH! The water smelled like sewage and the whole condo stunk. Talked to several people in the complex - they had no water issues. Obviously this unit does not have drinkable water and there is some sort of sewage backup issue that was not disclosed to us. Called SPI Rentals and they sent the maintenance man. He immediately said "Wow, I can smell the sewage! Not much I can do but put in some sani-sticks". I called SPI Rentals and demanded to be put in another condo or house elsewhere. They did not have anything available. I then demanded an entire refund. SPI Rentals said they would charge us for the one night in this unsanitary hell-hole and could possibly refund cleaning, taxes etc. Their only question was what time would we be out. By this point I was irate. We packed up the car and headed home for another 10 hour drive within 24 hours. Because it was so late in the day, we had to stop in San Antonio and pay for a hotel room. That was Saturday and Sunday. Today is Wednesday and we still have not heard from SPI about our refund. We will be posting this to Facebook so that nobody else will suffer the same consequences as we have. I WILL NEVER USE SPI AGAIN!! I CAUTION YOU TO NOT USE THEM TOO! read more

I rented a condo for $1100 bucks from this company and then cancelled a few days later. I took a hit for more than $400 of non-refundable charges, but the worst thing is they still charged my credit card for the full second payment even after they stated in writing two times that they wouldn't. First off we get to the SPI office for check in today at 4 P.M. only to find out our condo is not ready. Saida IV condo #4204.. My husband, 4 children and I, hot, tired, been on the road for many hours. Finally get the key and arrive after 5 P.M. only to discover that the condo that we thought we booked was not this condo, meaning the pics that we seen while booking was not of this. This condo 4204 is disgusting! We feel totally decieved. It appears as if it has not been updated since the construction of this whole entire building, or even a fresh coat of paint. Not to mention the smell. The toliet handles look like and function like they could break at any moment. The BBQ grill on the balcony, well I wish that I could post a pic of it. It is so very Rusty, you would need to get a tetanus shot if used. So much for grilling on vacay, right!!! As well as we had to even purchase this evening flat pans. As well as, towels and wash cloths because there was a very limited amount. I am sorry but I as a mother and on vacation I don't want to have to worry about washing towels and wash cloths for my family everyday. We ended up buying Clorox wipes and Lysol as well. We paid around taxes and all 1,900.00 for 6 nights 7 days for this disgusting, nasty place and here we are... My children are asking me, could we get bed bugs... I do Not recommend Saida property nor do I recommend renting from the SPI rentals, which we booked this horrible condo from. My thoughts... You go on a Vacay, you expect it to be nicer than your own home. Never again! read more

My family and I decided to rent one of their house ubícate at 123 Georgia Ruth st and we're very disappointed with SPI staff because we spent a lot of money for 3 day more than $ 1'500. 00. To get a wonderful vacation but won't be like we expect. The neighbors next to de house put a complain every single days and they automatically came to let us put the music low that inciden was at 5pm, came on "" it's a Friday and Saturday, we are on vacation with our family, they tell us if we not put the music low we have to leave the house, to me that not the reaction to expect for ISP, they have to let the neighbor, that kind of house is for rent, for people on vacation, of curse we want music and party, let me tell you this if I want sleep or watching tv I don't spend my time driving more than 20hrs or my money, believe me. ISP has to put in the contract this house is just to rest the neighbors don't like the music, the neighbor don't like Hispanic people, I don't want a writing here the offensive words that that gentleman told us and of course ISP did not do anything about it, only to us it came every single day, they came to scold us, we pay you, it is you who have to tell the unbearable neighbor to hold it, oh the owner of the house, not to rent it for holiday purposes, I will never go from Florida to Shouth Padre islad to waste neither my money nor my time ... I rented your property on 4511 Gulf this past weekend from 8/13-8/16 and I had some issues with the house that I was quite upset about. First of all, we arrived at the house and my grandkids go out to swim and we could not figure out how to get the water to the slide to work. My wife called in and no one in the office knew how it worked so they had to send a maintenance worker to come show us. They showed my son and it worked for a while but we could not use the jacuzzi and the slide at the same time. This was never told to us and it was not posted on the amenities, that only one would work at a time. Secondly, the couch in the small living space downstairs, seemed like the couch was about to collapse. One of the legs of this couch was leaning and cushions were so worn they were hardly considered cushions. The sofa beds upstairs had springs broken and our guest that we had stay in them had to sleep in leaning beds. Thirdly, one of the beds in the 2 double bed rooms collapsed with my grandkids (2yrs and 1 yr) on the bed and no they were not jumping on the bed, my daughter-in-law was getting them dressed after their bath. My son went out and found something to put under the bed to keep it from falling again. Fourthly, the floor mats outside were wet, disgusting and had a stench. I do not know how replacing a inexpensive floor mat between guest is not done. As soon as we opened the door from the kitchen outside was like a slap in the face. So unsanitary. Also, the tile used under the deck by the kitchen was so slippery, that my son-in-law fell simply walking. Last but not least, the shower in the king bedroom downstairs was made for a child and should be considered a tiny shower not a full shower as described. I was not going to spend my weekend waiting for maintenance nor did I want anyone in the house while we were not there. We had a full weekend planned with going to the beach, fishing trip etc. and I did not spend that much money to wait around to have maintenance come and look at these issues. We rented this home to have a safe, relaxing weekend with our children, grandkids and friends and instead of going smoothly, it was one thing after another. We have rented homes in Colorado, Bahamas and Port Aransas and have never had these issues. The way I see it, is the house should be inspected prior to our arrival to make sure everything is up and running and comfortable for your houseguest and that does not seem to be the case. I was disappointed to say the least and quite a bit embarrassed because we had invited out children's in-laws to spend the weekend with us and the grandkids since we thought we had this great house by the beach to stay in. I feel when your in the business for beach house rentals that you would know all the little things that could be done to make the guest feel more comfortable and welcoming. I wish this review was about the property, but sadly, we did not have the chance to visit. This review is a warning against renting from SPI Rentals based on our recent experience. Just last week, we were forced to cancel our prepaid stay at one of their properties due to a sudden death in our immediate family. Although we informed SPI Rentals of the circumstances, they refused to negotiate or compromise with us at all regarding the cancellation policy. We understood that the cancellation would cost them money, and we felt that letting them keep half the cost would be a very generous compromise. Our offer would have allowed them to keep nearly $1,500 for an empty rental. However, after multiple pleas with Ashley at SPI Rentals to to reach a fair solution, she refused to even have a conversation about the situation. SPI Rentals' unreasonable refusal to refund any portion of our payment for a vacation interrupted by a tragedy added grievous insult to our immense injury. Their actions have insured that we will never again take our business to this shameful enterprise. We write this review as a warning to others looking to have a pleasant week at the beach - when choosing a company to rent with, avoid SPI Rentals. read more

I gave this place three stars because even though the room we chose said ocean facing but really was facing their pool. The housekeeping staff does not clean very well. Nasty rug, thank god it was only a small rug. The electrical plug points were mostly lose if not working at all. For the rental price I expected something slightly better. The room floor plan was not bad but bathrooms were tiny and off-course water pressure in showers were horrible. But one thing there were plenty and that was towels! I don't think I will book this room from this rental again. It was Saida 3202. read more
