Front of house - beautiful green open lot next door
    Janell C.

I highly recommend the beautiful properties at SPI rentals. They are top quality and the service staff is second to none. Any request is received graciously and taken care of right away. I enjoyed my stay with our group at 111 E. Esperanza very much. Beautiful, clean, spacious and well-appointed 7 br 4-ba 2-Villa house at great rates! The location is close to an awesome beach access point. Check this awesome place out!!

Completely dead hot water heater. They left water on the garage floor and my elderly mother slipped on it and nearly fell on the concrete.

Wow, don't rent through these guys. I rented a "luxury" property for my family and paid an exuberant amount for a house that was for all accounts kind of icky. Despite a cleaning fee of 400 bucks, we found half a dozen cigarette butts in and around the pool when we checked in, grease stains above the stove, grime streaking the cabinets, and my bathroom was infested with tiny ants and the shower leaked all over the floor. The house was missing trim and had smudges, gouges, and scrapes all over the walls. The TVs didn't work (someone came and fixed the downstairs tv to be fair, but the tv in my room didn't even have a remote) and the hot water heater completely died leaving us with no hot water for almost 24 hours. SPI rentals were difficult to get ahold of to report the problem and the head of maintenance, Ken, was rude to me over the phone and seemed annoyed that we wanted hot water for the rest of our stay. David, was pleasant to work with and had better customer service skills and eventually the new hot water heater was installed. Everyone had taken ice cold showers by then, just to get the pool water off. We didn't have hot water for almost 24 hours and SPI Rentals didn't offer to refund any portion of our money. I rented through Airbnb and left an honest review of everything that happened and since SPI didn't want it to affect their rating, they found a fun loop hole where they simply didn't rate me so that my review never posted. Smells like a scam to me, so here I am on google since we did in fact rent from SPI Rentals. Attached are photos. On the plus side, the pool was nice and there were plenty of towels. It's easy to walk to the beach from here but be advised that you still have to check in and out at an office to get the keys so there's no remote check in during a pandemic. The house is okay, it's just old and needs updating and better cleaning after guests. It's just not worth what they're charging. My other review was more detailed, but since they wouldn't post it on Airbnb here is the short hand account.

    Filthy pool

This by far was the WORST AirBNB we have stayed at. The price was very expensive but we were willing to book since it advertised a wonderful pool and hot tub. Upon arrival the pool was FILTHY and so was the house. A huge bag of dirty linens and towels were left out. They made so many excuses as to why the pool was in that condition and even said that BEFORE we got there they tried putting chemicals in it WITHOUT telling us. TOTALLY UNSAFE. I will never book again with this company and I recommend families don't either.

This is how "clean" the property was - 4511 Gulf Blvd

I would highly discourage renting from SPIrentals if you are planning a vacation in the South Padre Island area - they manipulate/remove bad reviews from their site and don't take responsibility for scammy houses. More importantly, never EVER rent the property at 4511 Gulf Blvd as you will likely feel scammed like we did. It's an absolute bait and switch - the photos and videos make it look like a luxury vacation rental but the owner very clearly is taking advantage of the great location and providing a glorified frat house for a Ritz Carlton pricetag. The AC is old and doesn't have the capacity to adequately cool the house size, it reached 82 degrees inside for us and there are zero window treatments in the house. 4511 Gulf Blvd felt dirty/grimy and in addition to having absolutely no mats or rugs anywhere to wipe the grim off, you'll encounter a busted hose, broken shower door, faulty sliding door, broken bathroom hardware, terrible cookware, inadequately stocked kitchen, pantry stuffed with the owners junk, and old exterior furniture. If you like waking up at 3:30AM then congrats, the fire alarm will gladly do that for you when it goes off for no reason each night. Overall, the property is NOT as advertised. Don't be fooled and don't waste your money with SPIRentals as a company because their accountability doesn't exist and definitely don't spend your family vacation at 4511 Gulf Blvd. In the end, SPI will just refuse to provide a refund for the fraudulent setup they put you in blaming it on the house owner when in fact you rented from their company website with fake reviews. But don't take my word for it, check out the BBB as they are a C- and I wish we had done our homework prior.

From the moment we checked into our room, there were multiple leaks coming from the ceiling while we checked in and the ceiling of the elevators, creating an unacceptable and uncomfortable environment. To make matters worse, both the shower and sink water smelled strongly of sewage, making basic hygiene unpleasant and concerning. No one was able to shower, brush their teeth or even drink water. We were patient and understanding, giving the hotel ample opportunity to address the issues. They sent a random maintenance man to come "clean the drains" and acted dismissive and bothered by our request. By 10:00 AM, after the problems persisted, we requested a room change. Instead of taking immediate action, we were repeatedly told someone would call us back with an update. Those calls never came. We were forced to continuously follow up ourselves just to get information. By 4pm, they FINALLY told us that our room would be ready within 15 minutes. The replacement room is also a disappointment. We paid extra for a larger room with a specific view and bathtubs, yet the room we were moved to is noticeably smaller and does not match what we originally purchased. We essentially paid a premium for accommodations we no longer have. The customer service throughout this experience has been shockingly poor. After finally arranging a room transfer, the front desk informed us we had one hour to vacate our original room. Then, with ten minutes still remaining before that deadline, we were threatened that the transfer would be canceled because we were "not moving quickly enough." The complete lack of empathy, professionalism, and basic courtesy was astounding. So we were allowed to wait all day for them to rectify the situation but we only had less than an hour at ANY given time to get out when it best suited them? Not to mention, the workers walked into our room without knocking and walked in on us changing and gathering our belongings which is a huge violation. What makes this even more disappointing is that our group has provided this property with multiple room bookings and approximately 10 guests during our stays. Despite being loyal customers and remaining respectful throughout this ordeal, we were treated as though our concerns were an inconvenience. Between the leaking ceilings, sewage-smelling water, unexplained extra charges at the pool bar, failure to communicate, downgrade in accommodations, and hostile customer service, this resort has demonstrated a complete disregard for guest satisfaction. We will not be returning, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property to anyone. There are far too many resorts that value their guests to spend your money at one that clearly does not. What's ironic is that this place has so much potential of being amazing. Most of the staff is great, but solely MANAGEMENT needs a refresher on what the hospitality business entails. Especially Imelda.

There is a deck by the beach for guests that has chairs, tables, umbrellas, and a shower/wash-off spot. They did have 2 containers of soap to get the tar/oil off your feet, but both were completely empty, so that was a bit of a nuisance, and some shoes got ruined. The pool and BBQ area were nice and clean. I saw workers cleaning the pool each morning that I was there. All three nights, there was a fireworks show around 9ish. I don't know if that's a nightly thing, but it was lovely. Okay.. $80 for additional cars, I understand there isn't a lot of parking space but only being able to have 2 cars, even if they aren't staying is wild, it was a hassle to be able to get my whole group together in one place to meet up to discuss plans/hang (some of my party stayed at a hotel next door). We ended up getting a golf cart for a few hrs because you can park that without having to pay (if it's not overnight). The body wash/shampoo/conditioner was out in ALL 3 bathrooms. The faucet in the shower was so loose I was scared if I touched it too hard it would come right off, same with shower curtain rod. The towel holder in the bathroom I was in popped right off when I was drying my hands. Overall I feel like the bathrooms could have been cleaner and could definitely benefit from some upgrades. Covers on the bed are thin so if you are cold-natured I would definitely bring a cover from home. Baseboards in the master bedroom were all messed up, not a problem just an eyesore. WiFi was trash but it usually is in public places like that so didn't bother me much. Overall for the price, some things need upgrades, and staff can be more mindful of making sure things are filled and clean for the next guest. All that being said, I would probably stay here again.
