If they refuse, we will share our experience so far. 2/2/2017 As noted by many other SCAMMED consumers, this company is HORRID and has refused to refund our money. It is unfortunate that a pleasant start could end so quickly due to a business not conducting business properly and selling POOR QUALITY FOOD. This is the case with Windy City Quality Food I work in an office setting with a front door that opens to a main lobby with multiple offices inside. Each office is a different business. I was sitting in my office working on Friday Jan-27 when I head a mans voice outside saying "Hello! Hello! We have a sign on the front door saying "Shop-at-home only please call XXX-XXX-XXXX for an appointment" Generally only delivery people enter to deliver boxes. I opened my door and was startled to see a strange man, who does not work in our office building, across the hall. He had opened a closed office door. That was my first warning sign,I should have listened to it. It was Todd E. Boss. He turned to and t me that he was trying to earn Black hawks tickets by selling the most meat that day. Todd even offered to take me to the game with him if he won these tickets. I did not believe him and asked if we could just move past the pitch and get to the pricing. The presumed lie about the Black hawks tickets was my second warning sign, I should have listened to it. My career includes sales and I have a lot of experience working with and training sales people, so I wanted to help this guy. I understand how hard it is and was willing to help this young man. I also needed to get back to work. So the exchange was pleasant and very quick. He said he could take $300 if I paid by check and wrote check directly to him, Todd E. Boss, and not the company. That was my third warning sign, I should have listened to it. I wrote him a check for $300 and I wrote "meat" in the memo as a record of the payment. The outside temperature was in the teens that day, so he loaded the meat and seafood in the back of my van and left. When I unpacked the product to put in my freezer later on, I noticed that all the seafood had ice inside of the bag. This was a big red flag that it might be freezer burnt. I googled the business, which I had to do from memory because I was not provided with a receipt of any kind. I emailed customer service. I saw that this company has A LOT of bad reviews and then became even more afraid that I may have been swindled by Windy City Quality Foods. On Saturday Jan-28, I cooked two of the small filet mignons for my husband and I for lunch . It is not odd for us to prepare steak in our home, we know how to cook it. The meat was so tough that not one bite was edible. We chewed and chewed, but it never broke down to a point of able to swallow. So we had to spit out every single bite. Then I looked online again at Windy City Quality Foods reviews and saw that this was normal as well as someone getting sick. I was then afraid of what I had purchased from this Elgin, Il company. I saw how rude that many people said Todd had been to them on the phone and that others had the same issue with wanting and not being able to get their money back. I gave the purchase 1 last try for dinner & heated up some of the breaded shrimp. The seafood was so freezer burnt that it did not brown after 30 minutes in a gas oven set at 450. At this point, I stared emailing Todd to ask for my money back. He has refused several times & lied in emails saying that he told me about the exchange guarantee. I expected the quality of meat that you would get from Omaha Steak. Even a lower quality would do, but not being able to chew the beef and having completely freezer burnt seafood is not acceptable. I'm also very afraid of getting my family sick as others mentioned since we have a 2 and 7 year old. In addition, any door-to-door sales person has to give you a full refund if you request it in writing within three days. As mentioned, I'm in sales (for over 20 years now) and I know this to be a rule. When I checked my bank on Saturday, Todd had already cashed the check on Friday. I am alarmed that this man entered a building with a sign that says "call for an appointment". I am concerned that he opened closed doors in the building and shouted hello until someone appeared. Do not buy steaks from these scammers. They came to my office and sold me on what I thought was a great deal. I cooked three of these steaks and they were like I took a bite out of a tennis ball. This is the lowest quality meat I have ever had. I called their office line, which was out of service, I found the owner (Todd) personal phone number and called him. He promised to come out and replace the box of steaks. I have sent numerous emails with no response. Stay away from these guys. I've been had. These guys were in my neighborhood a few days ago. Previously, I've turned them down, but I've been working long hours lately and felt flush with cash and too busy to shop. So I finally listened to their pitch and it sounded like I was getting a reasonable deal. As they put it, I was getting "32 steaks for five bucks each." Kinda sorta -- 18 of these "steaks" are small hamburgers. And with tax, my order came to $176. When I received the food, it actually came out to something like $12 per pound for my burgers, ribeyes, filets, NY strips and porterhouse steaks. All are "gluten free," which is a funny way to market meat. But I tried to keep an open mind. Until tonight, when I grilled up a filet, a NY strip and a ribeye. Toughest meat I've ever had! You could pretty much see the indentations where the jockeys whipped and spurred these horses! Seriously the lowest grade product I've ever put on my Weber; I hope it forgives me. A guy also walked into my husband's business and told him the same thing - selling food for hawks tickets. Although that may have been true, the quality of the food we purchased was utterly disgusting. There were tendons and connective tissue in all the cuts of red meat rendering it inedible. The raw shrimp were brown and full of a pink substance that resembled fat. We threw the rest out. I wanted to give a recent review for whoever bought meat off these Guys today. After I bought it I searched reviews for them and it looked incredibly grim. I want to start off by saying Todd's approach is incredibly unconventional and I had every intention of telling him to buzz off. I manage a warehouse and he came around the back with a box of meat and started trying to sell. 24 Prime steaks and 8 prime burgers. I was very unconvinced at first. After a bit of talking he showed us the product. The meat looked great. Individually packaged and vacuum sealed. Against my better judgement I took the box after he gave me a pretty good deal. Looking at the reviews I was sure I got scammed but I went home to fire up the grill anyways. I cook on a charcoal grill with cherrywood brickets. I decided to try a boneless peppercorn Sirloin, a delmonico sirloin and one of the burgers. The meat had an ok looking color after dethawing, a little more grey than I would have liked and nothing was really marbled, but I guess that's what you get for buying frozen steaks. I seasoned the steak with pepper and garlic and I have prepackaged burger seasoning I used. Look, I don't know what these guys used to sell, maybe they sold a pile of shit a year ago. And I can't speak for Todd's driving, maybe he drives like an asshole. I don't know. But what I do know is the steaks and the burger were very very good. The burger was juicy and had a great texture. I cooked the steaks medium, they were juicy. The peppercorn steak was seasoned poorly and The delmonico was a weeeee but tougher than what I think Prime Steaks should be but overall it was a good buy. As a disclaimer, the cuts are very small except the delmonico. Value for your money is really up to you as a consumer. If you bought this today, don't fret, the cuts are good. I'm not sick yet, and everything looked and tasted good. Don't think I'd buy again as I'm not a steak fanatic but it'll be nice to have these in the freezer in case I get a craving for one this summer. read more

These guys came all the way up to Bayside, WI to make a delivery (possibly a lie on their part) and tried to sell me meat out of their van trunk in the parking lot of CVS pharmacy. The heavily tattooed looking guy started at $225 and got the price down to $160. It was laughable. "See what this is right here? This is MEAT!" As he smacks a frozen package of it into my hand. I should have thanked him for the gift and left. Instead I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He went on forever. He said he takes cash, credit, even food stamps and would sign any related forms. Talk about skirting the law. When he saw I wasn't buying it he lowered it a little more as his driver slowly started driving the van away to provoke me to expedite my decision. He refused to give me a business card even after I said I could give him referrals (lie on my part). As I walked away I tried to make eye contact with his driver who was professionally dressed, but he kept his face down. I posted on their Facebook page and got no response. Don't trust strange, nefarious van-meats. These guys told me they were called "Windy City Steak" and I found them on this page via their logo, the same one on their truck. Note that there's another company called "Windy City Steak Company" located in Chicago, IL. Their website is different, different phone numbers and Facebook page has decent reviews. I posted to their Facebook page thinking this place was them because of what I was told by the salesman. There's a chance WCQF has someone misrepresenting themselves as the other company. Horrible product and horrible customer service. A man shows up at my door stating he delivers meat to my neighbors and has some extra product he is willing to sell. Long story short, my mom is over visiting, we both listen to his pitch, he offers to double the product for the same price and throws in a "shrimp kicker" since we like seafood. All along the way he is toting his company's guarantee. All of their product is guaranteed for a year and how unique that is, etc etc. He reassures us that because of this guarantee it's a no brainer since we won't be out anything if we are not happy with the product. We just call up the company and we can be refunded. That sold us, done. Salesman starts bringing over the cases of meat for us and the shrimp kicker. While their products are stamped with a package date and no expiration date, the shrimp kicker has an expiration date. Guess what had already expired? The shrimp kicker. That should have been my way to get out but the guy apologized over and over and replaced the kicker with more meat (I want to say sirloins), so it smoothed it over for us. My husband and I tried a few cuts of the meat and 1 or 2 of the burger patties. Terrible meat. We buy from Omaha, the supermarket, etc, so we are used to meat quality across the board. The meat we received is of the lowest quality I have ever eaten. The meat was gristly beyond belief, tasted terrible, and looked like blobs of gelatin with no shape when I took them out of the packages. And the burgers were definitely not the amazing quality he claimed they were, either. I'd rather go to a fast food restaurant for better tasting burgers. Fast forward to the past week. I contacted the company requesting a refund of the product. I was informed that they do not offer refunds and they offer exchanges, only. He also stated they do not sell anything with expiration dates , only packaged dates, so my story is not possible. Interesting how that all works out, right? From my end, everything I was told about their guarantee and that I could be refunded was a farce to sell their product. If that doesn't scream scam or fraud, I don't know what does. Time and time again, via email I refuse the exchange and state I want the refund that I was promised during the sales process. Once again, Todd, who I assume is their customer service rep, finally stated for about the um-teenth time that they "only offer exchanges" however now he followed it up with a statement they now carry a new product. Why is this fact just NOW being brought up a week into these back and forth emails? Shouldn't you toting a new product to replace this junk be the 1st thing you'd want to let me know? Honestly, this company needs to train their salesteam to use the proper terminology when selling their awful product. I was told I could be issued a refund. I would never spend this large amount of money on a product I am not familiar with unless I knew I could get my money back. It's not like I had it custom made for me. It's meat. You can resell this (if anyone want terrible meat). Obviously this is a case of his salesman's word against mine. His site has stellar reviews, but clearly any review site and the BBB shows their reputation otherwise. Their Facebook page linked to their website is also disabled - I can only assume because of so many complaints coming through. I had the same experience as everyone else. Scammed me and sold "USDA Beef" that isn't even real meat. Look at the ingredients label, not once did anything say "beef" on it. I reached out to Todd E. Boss for a refund today via email, because the "company" has about 4 different phone numbers, and I received 2 sentence answers that basically said "Oh well, that's sales". Same story, another day. Todd E. Boss visited our office with the same Blackhawk ticket speel. He told us about their Filet Mignons, New York strips, Rib Eye, hanger steaks, game day burgers, that were all choice plus in quality, and there was a one year refund. Paid $562 for 14 boxes of meat. Thought it would be a nice gift to some of our employees. This meat is not edible. It is the chewiest, nastiest meat I have ever tried to eat. If you look at their labeling of the boxes it shows them as boneless strip steak, boneless beef filet, boneless beef delmonico steaks, and chopped beef steaks. Not even close to the BS Todd sold us. Huge SCAM, stay away. Had us make the check out to him and not the company. RED FLAG, but unfortunately ignored. The check was cashed at our bank within 10 minutes of him leaving our store. The first question you should ask these jokers is what restaurants they sell their "restaurant quality" meat to. It is by far the WORST quality meat I have every purchased. I'm not even sure it's beef. What I do know is it is NOT EDIBLE! It's so bad I'm tossing what I have left over into the trash. The "fillets" were so tough and chewy we couldn't eat them. The ribeyes were no different. I have been cooking and grilling for 35 years and never in that entire time have I purchased or prepared such poor quality meat. I feel this is relevant because this is a food delivery service and I had a negative interaction with the driver on the road, in his delivery truck during business hours. The driver was unsafe and immediately rude on the phone to me when I called to let him know that he passed me on the wrong side of the road and plowed through a crosswalk with a pedestrian in it! The "let me know how I'm driving" phone number on the back of the truck rang the driver (Todd E. Boss) of the truck directly. What's the point of that? Well, he was immediately angry and defensive and huffed at me that I should get a life! He said more to me that was rude, impatient and deflective of his behavior and then he hung the phone up on me. What qualifies as a reason to call? When he actually causes an accident? So, I checked the reviews for the company and was not surprised at all by all the one stars. Apparently, mediocrity is part of this company's business plan. Well I'm part of a very large event group and we purchase quantities of meat for various functions and are also bar and restaurant owners and patrons in Chicago. I made sure to spread the word because we all believe in quality of service. I once heard that everyone who gets bad service typically tells at least 2 people and then those people tell 2 people and on and on. It can really hurt your bottom line if your reputation is poor. You can't just put the word "quality" in your name to make it so. There is such a thing as customer service, integrity and common decency. It seems from all the reviews below that's not a priority for Todd. If you're going to go to the trouble of having a business, why not have an honest business and attract repeat customers instead of attracting negative reviews like FOS? Their truck showed up at my office. This is how they get new clients. I was delivered filet steaks which I paid good money for. The steaks were uneatable!! Terrible. We cooked them several different ways to see if it made a difference. When I first contacted them they said they were going to make me happy and provide me some different products. They wanted to make me happy. There was about a month that passed between this communication. When I reminded them that the situation was not resolved the situation changed.
